What size frog are you throwing? Just got the Sixgill hamarr set up on the frog rod that you have. But just not getting the distance I’m use to with other setups.
I throw ~65 size frogs a lot on it, such as LiveTarget and Toad Thumper. My Hamarr has the magnets inverted from the normal direction most bait casting reels have, so try turning them all the way down in the opposite direction of what they are. And I generally have my spool tension really light. Braid is a lot more forgiving, so I generally keep my reel almost fully open when frog fishing
I throw mine on a Lew's Super Duty 300. I've really liked that reel so far. The Tatula 300, Lexa 300, Curado 300, and Tranx 300 are all good reels as well.
I've got one, I just don't use it a ton because I've been fishing shallow stuff so much the past few times I've been out in the yak. I'll definitely have to get out here soon with it though
@@TheBassAddict have you tried fishing deeper? There's alot of places you could be missing that hold fish. Fish finder will help u find those points and downed trees you don't see. I use mine to get to the drop offs or ledges since my home lake doesn't have structure or many rocky bottom places. We got weeds.... and more weeds lol
That's awesome man! I haven't run a team, so I can't give you exact details, but I would focus on finding an adult (or multiple) that can run logistics for the team (payments, etc.) Because there is a lot small stuff to do. Other than that, getting boat captains is really important. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
@@TheBassAddict ok thanks, we have a coach that’s our sponsor that pays the fees and we have boat captains, we’re starting off small so we only have 2 teams but we’re trying to expand, thanks for the info
I’m looking at getting a new reel, do you have any recommendations? I saw the sixgill and they have good reviews but I’m not sure if I want the wraith or the hamman, what would you suggest?
I run straight 10lb Seaguar Invizx Fluorocarbon. Yes, I sometimes have issues with line twist. But I can largely minimize that by making sure the line stays tight before reeling, making sure no small loops get onto the spool, etc. I run this for a wacky rig and neko rig only, because it helps me get the bait down deeper and fish it slower. Plus, when I skip docks, I'm not constantly having to replace a leader. For almost everything else I throw on a spinning setup, I throw braid backing to a fluoro leader (15-20 lb braid to an 8-10lb leader).
Yeah, I fished it about a month ago. It's fishing really well. You can catch them on a lot of different things really, so mainly throw what you are comfortable with. But you can't go wrong with a big worm, crankbait, topwater, or even a jig. I hope you are able to get a boat.
Hey just a tip when you are fishing big worms let them eat it for a few seconds it will help with them just bitting the tails off. I will be fishing at the THSBA AOY tournament next weekend.did y’all make it
Great job getting those cold fish. That one bass was a stud! Yamamoto senkos are great but boy are they expensive. I have switched to Big Bite Baits Trick sticks for normal "senko" style worms. Sometime you want a very slow fall. For that I use the Lunker City Spankys.
