Thanks for the nice video I have followed it but at the time when I click to install it to my hard-drive, nothing happens at all. It doesn't even give any message of error

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. If nothing happens when you try to install it to your hard drive, it might be due to a few common issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: Check Compatibility: Ensure that your hardware is compatible with the installation requirements. Verify BIOS Settings: Make sure your BIOS settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, settings like Secure Boot or Legacy Mode can affect the installation. Boot Media: Verify that your boot media (USB drive or other) is correctly prepared and not corrupted. Try recreating the boot media if necessary. Error Logs: Even if there's no visible error message, check for logs or error codes that might provide more information. These can often be found in a log file or terminal window if you have access to it. Update OpenCore: Ensure you are using the latest version of OpenCore and that all configuration files are properly set up. If you've tried these steps and are still having trouble, please provide more details about your system and the steps you've already taken, and I'll do my best to help further. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Let's try a few steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1. **Check the USB Drive**: Ensure that the USB drive is properly formatted and the OpenCore installer is correctly set up. Sometimes, a corrupted or improperly prepared USB drive can cause issues. 2. **Verify USB Port**: Try using a different USB port on your Mac. Sometimes, certain ports may have issues or may not be recognized during boot. 3. **Reset NVRAM/PRAM**: Resetting the NVRAM/PRAM can sometimes resolve boot issues. To do this: - Shut down your Mac. - Turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds. - Release the keys and let your Mac restart. 4. **Reset SMC**: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) can also help with hardware-related issues. For a MacBook with a non-removable battery: - Shut down your Mac. - Press and hold Shift + Control + Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button. - Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds. - Release all keys and the power button, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac. 5. **Double-check OpenCore Configuration**: Make sure that the OpenCore configuration is correct for your specific model of MacBook Pro. If there are any mistakes in the configuration files, it could cause boot issues. Refer to the OpenCore guide to ensure all steps were followed correctly. 6. **Recreate the USB Installer**: If the above steps don’t work, try recreating the USB installer from scratch. Follow the OpenCore installation guide carefully to ensure all steps are completed correctly. If you continue to have trouble, consider the following additional options: - **Use a Different USB Drive**: Sometimes the USB drive itself may have issues. Try using a different USB drive to create the installer. - **Seek Help from the Community**: The OpenCore community is very active and helpful. You might find someone who has faced a similar issue and can provide specific guidance. If you need step-by-step guidance on any of these suggestions or further assistance, please let me know! I'm here to help you get through this installation process.

@@MyGeogy If your Mac shows a blank screen with no lights or chimes after holding the Option key to access the boot menu, it suggests a more fundamental issue, possibly with the hardware, the USB installer, or the OpenCore configuration. Here are some steps to diagnose and resolve this issue: ### Step-by-Step Troubleshooting 1. **Check the USB Installer**: - Make sure the USB installer is correctly created and that it contains all necessary files, including OpenCore, macOS installer, and essential kexts. 2. **Verify USB Ports and Drive**: - Try using different USB ports on your Mac. - If possible, use a different USB drive to rule out any issues with the current one. 3. **Reset SMC and NVRAM/PRAM**: - **Reset SMC** (System Management Controller): - Shut down your Mac. - For a MacBook with a non-removable battery: Press and hold Shift + Control + Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button. Hold these keys for 10 seconds. Release all keys and the power button, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac. - **Reset NVRAM/PRAM**: - Shut down your Mac. - Turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds. Release the keys and let the Mac restart. 4. **Check the OpenCore Configuration**: - Ensure the `config.plist` is properly configured for your Mac model. Incorrect settings can cause boot issues. - Use the [OpenCore Configurator](mackie100projects.altervista.org/download-opencore-configurator/) or [ProperTree](github.com/corpnewt/ProperTree) to verify and edit your `config.plist`. 5. **Verbose Mode and Basic Graphics**: - Add `-v` to the boot arguments for verbose mode to see detailed boot messages. - Add `-igfxvesa` to force basic VESA graphics mode, which can help if more advanced settings are causing issues. ### Creating a Proper OpenCore Configuration 1. **Download and Prepare OpenCore**: - Ensure you have the latest version of OpenCore and the necessary kexts (e.g., `Lilu.kext`, `WhateverGreen.kext`). 2. **Set Device Properties**: - Add the appropriate properties for your integrated graphics in the `DeviceProperties` section of your `config.plist`. ```xml <key>DeviceProperties</key> <dict> <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0)</key> <dict> <key>AAPL,ig-platform-id</key> <data>AAABAQ==</data> <!-- 0x0A160000 in base64 --> <key>device-id</key> <data>FDUAAA==</data> <!-- 0x04160000 in base64 --> </dict> </dict> ``` 3. **Set SMBIOS Information**: - Ensure the SMBIOS settings match your MacBook Pro model (e.g., `MacBookPro11,3` for a 15-inch 2014 model). ```xml <key>PlatformInfo</key> <dict> <key>Generic</key> <dict> <key>SystemProductName</key> <string>MacBookPro11,3</string> <!-- Other SMBIOS settings like SystemSerialNumber, MLB, and SmUUID --> </dict> </dict> ``` 4. **Add Necessary Kexts**: - Ensure `Lilu.kext` and `WhateverGreen.kext` are included in the `EFI/OC/Kexts` directory and referenced in your `config.plist` under `Kernel -> Add`. 5. **Boot Arguments**: - In the `NVRAM -> Add -> boot-args` section, add: ``` -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 alcid=1 -igfxvesa ``` ### Testing and Diagnosis 1. **Boot from USB Installer**: - Insert the USB installer, power on the Mac, and immediately hold down the Option key. - If the Startup Manager does not appear, try resetting the NVRAM/PRAM again. 2. **Check External Monitor**: - Connect an external monitor to see if it displays anything. 3. **Verbose Mode Boot**: - If you manage to get any output, verbose mode (`-v`) will help you see where the process is halting. ### If the Issue Persists 1. **Recreate the USB Installer**: - Use another Mac to recreate the USB installer, ensuring each step is followed correctly. 2. **Community Help**: - Post your `config.plist` and any verbose boot logs to forums such as [r/hackintosh](www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/) or [InsanelyMac](www.insanelymac.com/forum/). 3. **Hardware Diagnostics**: - If nothing works, there might be a hardware issue. Run Apple Diagnostics by holding `D` during startup to check for hardware problems. By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with your Mac not booting from the USB installer. If you need further assistance with specific configurations or steps, feel free to ask!

Hi michelespiritlevel, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing. It sounds very frustrating, especially when it's impacting your ability to work on music. Let's see if we can solve this together. 1. **Cursor Issue**: The cursor being stuck in the top left corner could be related to a USB issue or a trackpad malfunction. If you're using an external mouse, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Also, try using the trackpad to see if it moves the cursor. 2. **Graphical Issues**: The rectangular type icons could be a graphics issue. Ensure that you have the correct graphical kexts (kernel extensions) installed. For OpenCore, make sure you have the appropriate settings for your GPU in your `config.plist`. 3. **Update OpenCore and Kexts**: Ensure you have the latest version of OpenCore and that all your kexts are up-to-date. Sometimes bugs are fixed in newer releases that might solve your issue. 4. **Reset NVRAM**: This can sometimes resolve weird issues. You can do this by restarting your Mac and holding down Option + Command + P + R keys until you hear the startup sound twice. 5. **Check Logs**: Look into the OpenCore logs to see if there are any error messages that can give you a clue on what's going wrong. 6. **Reinstall macOS**: If none of the above solutions work, consider reinstalling macOS while keeping your data intact. This can sometimes clear up persistent issues. If you're still experiencing problems, please provide more details or any error messages you see, and I'll do my best to assist you further. Good luck, and I hope we can get this resolved for you soon!

That's fantastic to hear you've already prepared a Solo installation USB. Since you're currently unable to access your system, booting from the USB will be your starting point for the reinstallation process. Here's a step-by-step guide: 1. Begin by inserting your Solo installation USB into your Mac. Think of it as providing the necessary tools for your Mac to perform a fresh start, akin to handing a carpenter the right tool for the job. 2. Now, let's power up your Mac. As soon as you press the power button, press and hold down the Option key. This action serves as a gentle nudge to your Mac, prompting it to consider alternative startup options. 3. Voilà! Your Mac will respond by presenting you with the Startup Manager, a bit like opening a treasure chest of possibilities. From here, you'll spot your Solo installation USB listed as an option. 4. With a click, or more aptly, a tap of the keyboard arrow keys, select the USB drive as your boot source. Think of it as directing a ship towards a new destination. 5. Once your Mac sails smoothly into the Solo installation environment, you'll be greeted with clear on-screen instructions, guiding you through the reinstallation process. Picture it as following a recipe, with each step outlined for a seamless cooking experience. Should you encounter any waves along the way or find yourself navigating uncharted territory, don't hesitate to signal for help! We're here to ensure your journey back to a fully operational Mac is as smooth as a Sunday drive.

@@brian36313 Absolutely! You can indeed create an OpenCore installer on another machine and use it to install Sonoma on your locked-out Mac. Here's how you can go about it: 1. **Prepare the USB Installer**: On another Mac where you have access, follow the steps to create an OpenCore installer on a USB drive. This involves downloading the necessary files, configuring OpenCore properly for your target Mac, and creating a bootable USB drive. 2. **Transfer USB Drive**: Once you've successfully created the OpenCore installer on the USB drive, you can then transfer it to the locked-out Mac. Think of it as passing the baton in a relay race - you're entrusting the USB drive with the task of unlocking your Mac's potential. 3. **Boot from USB**: Insert the USB drive into your locked-out Mac and power it on. Like before, hold down the Option key to access the Startup Manager. From there, select the USB drive as the boot source. 4. **Installation Process**: Your Mac will now boot from the OpenCore installer on the USB drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the installation of Sonoma. It's akin to sending your Mac on a self-guided tour of its own makeover - with your guidance, of course! By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to reinstalling Sonoma on your Mac and regaining access to your system. If you encounter any hiccups along the way or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to ensure your Mac gets back on track smoothly!
