Goosetav the Tiny Goose crochet tutorial

In this tutorial, I show you how to make Goosetav, the Tiny crochet goose. He is the small counterpart to my Giant 5ft Goose, James Goosetav Fowl-lon. For this project you will need:
Blanket yarn in white and yellow/mustard
6.5mm crochet hook
Polyfil stuffing (or stuffing material of your choice)
Scissors
A sewing needle
Sewing pins
Stitch Markers
8mm felt eyes and glue for the eyes

My nieces just got a PS5 and discovered “The untitled Goose Game” and are obsessed with it. I am new to crochet and figured that the chances of me finding a RU-vid video that would 1. Show how to crochet a goose and 2. Be easy enough for a beginner to follow would be slim. 🤩Then I found this marvelous tutorial!!!🤩 My goose turned out so well thanks to your instructions. Nice tutorial! 😁 (you could get paid for recording audio books! Great voice 😁) By the way, I ordered a bunch of those rollers (skinny ones) bc my hair wouldn’t hold a curl like it used to. But instead of using them in my hair, I looked at them and thought “ohhh yah!!!! I could use these instead of raw wire for my amigurumis. 😁😁🥰🥰

I don't crochet with thread or floss. It is too small for me 😅 I have seen Goosetav made in micro crochet by a friend on TikTok, tho, so it is possible 🪿

just had a quick question for the eyes i’m not using felt was wondering where i would put the eyes if i’m using safety eyes 😅

Placement of safety eyes can shift due to tension, which is why I recommend felt eyes. Your tension can change how the neck/head sits and shift the eyes to the wrong place. Place them in the 1st stitch of R4, count 5 stitches, and place the 2nd eye. I highly recommend using wire in the neck if you're using Safety Eyes, so you can easily reposition the head/neck if they become crooked due to tension. I hope that made sense!

I've made it a thing that when I visit my best friend weekly, I make and bring her a new crochet gift. This is what got me back into picking up my yarn and hook regularly again. Do I have to use a rod inside its neck? Do you think it would be stable with just nothing or maybe some stuffing?

Yes, I do cover this in the tutorial, but you can choose to stuff the neck firmly. Wire is optional

Hi! Sorry but I don’t understand why in the round 6-13 u have 6 single crochet but in the round 14 I have to do 8 sc and inc

I think you might be misunderstanding the pattern. R14 is (SC, INC) x 3 [9], meaning: you should have 6 stitches at the beginning of the round and you're adding 3, leaving you with 9 stitches at the end of R14. Perhaps you've misread the instructions for R6-13, which is 8 rounds as a stitch count of 8? Either way, I hope that helps clear things up for you

When I stuff it the stuffing is popping out through the holes in the stitches. Why?

That depends. Your tension might be loose, or you could be over-stuffing your goose. Using Yarn Under instead of yarn over can produce smaller openings in the stitches. You could also try going down a hook size. Hope that helps 🪿
