My religious beliefs now say that anyone who is anti-trans must be misgendered 100% of the time until they are no longer transgender. My religious beliefs also now state that anyone who is anti-transgender must be names Bob if they identify as female and Karen if they identify as male.
The question I have is why is this such a thing. Why are so many kids all the sudden trans. It's a social contagion and a fad that adults are being forced to accommodate.
@missylee3022 Yes it is a trend with younger kids as they want to be apart of the bandwagon. Happens with everything. I faked being a furry for attention in middleschool. It is a legit thing though. My sister has been uncomfortable in their body for their whole life. When they where 3 years old in the bath with me, they asked "mommy, when will my penis grow in." They were sad when they learned they wouldn't get one. Thats not a fad. They are going to get breast reduction surgery when they are 16. a common procedure done for those tend to have boobs that are WAY to large and cause medical issues, and in cases with my sister, because it makes them feel uncomfortable when they go out in public. They wore binders for a while and stopped due to medical issues. Yeah, guarentee 50% of kids in middleschool are faking being LGBTQ+, they are kids, you were just as stupid back then. But its better to embrace all then to chance telling those who are LGBTQ that they are faking it, causing mental issues. Please do some research outside of truth social and fox news, they are a misinformation "news" source... Wow had to laugh at that. They really are not news anymore.
''Biological names'' is the most 12 IQ words I've ever heard, does this person know the meaning of Biology??? Nobody has a biological name because names are a human social invention. Animals don't refer to each other with names. Sadly I know this situation very well, in my apprenticeship I am also having problems with one of my teachers, who refuses to use my name. I am not even a kid, I am 19 years old. And yet I am constantly being infantilised at both school and my workplace just because I am transgender. This same teacher also treats me worst than he does other students, he didn't believed I was a legal citizen of this country because I am of Mexican family. I had to show him my passport because he literally said that I was lying. He keeps calling me a ''lady'' in front of others students, basically he outed me, because I pass enough that people assumed I was a cis guy till this teacher referred to me as a girl. Something wich I hate, because I would've enjoyed a stealth life at least in my work and school. It doesn't help that I live in quite a conservative place that combined with the fact I am the oldest there makes me feel very isolated from other people there.
I'm very religious myself, and my religion (like many others I think) is overall kind of confused about the issue of transgender individuals. I admit to being rather transphobic earlier in my life, and during that period, as a teacher myself, I had another student talk to me about his own feelings about transgender individuals - telling me that he felt uncomfortable about the idea, and was it really right to transition? I answered as follows: I told him I myself was uncomfortable with the idea and that I didn't understand it, but that I didn't have to; since I had no idea what transgender people were going through, I had no right to judge their decisions, and ultimately it was up to individuals to choose what was best for them. (Though I don't think I clarified this to my student, my reasoning was thus: if psychology indicated that medical transition was the best course of action for some individuals, who was I to argue? And I've never had a problem with people defying gender norms in general, so social transition was always a non-issue to me.) Since then I've tried to learn more about the transgender community, and while I admittedly still don't understand on a personal level I do understand more thoroughly that it is a complex, nuanced topic and in general people ARE making the decisions that will make them happy and comfortable with themselves, their bodies, and the way they present themselves to the world. And that's good. The idea of using my religion to argue that I should disrespect people just because it stuck to the gender binary never crossed my mind. After all, that's such a minor detail when compared to the main teachings of treating people with respect, dignity, and compassion. The fact that this woman - a teacher - is SUING so she can disrespect her students is just plain intentional cruelty. I mean seriously - "biological names"? The hell is that, anyway? Names are a human invention, they aren't "biological". I don't have much faith in the judiciary these days, but I still hope this woman gets her butt kicked HARD in court.
The bible says absolutely nothing about trans people, so no, intentionally misgendering students does not fall under freedom of religeon since nowhere in the bible is that opinion even remotly stated. It's not biblical teaching to be transphobic, its a personal choice to be an a-hole towards others.
Your “biological” name, LOL. Geez, I had to make up names for my babies myself. I didn’t know you could do a DNA test and find out what name a child is supposed to have. Public schools are supposed to be religion-neutral. If you can’t handle a religious-neutral workplace, don’t work in one.
I'd rather be homeless in another state where I can at least continue my medicine. I lost my job because of this discrimination happening, I might as well take everything I have and go it's better than staying here. I'd rather freeze in the winter to death than never be able to live
The malicious compliance version of this for students would be to find her maiden name and only EVER use it. "Marriage doesn't change who you are, no matter what paperwork or delusions you subscribe to, you were born a ____ and you'll always be a _____" Some people need to experience things themselves before they understand

Here's the thing... religion may be protected, but if your religion interferes with your ability to do your job, you need to find a new job, and religious protection doesn't help you there. Names aside, by claiming her religion makes her want to have those students out of her classroom, she's proven that her religion is preventing her from doing her actual job.
I've had plenty of teachers just call me my last name without any issues or accommodations. It's a perfevtly normal thing for students to do with students, and this woman refusing to do that is absolutely deranged.
The insanity of being a grown ass adult teacher and throwing a toddler tantrum because she doesn't want to call a child by the name they prefer. Does she throw a tantrum anytime a "Robert" wants to be called 'Rob" as well? Gross behavior. I hope she steps on a lego barefoot every day for the rest of her life.

Where did Jesus Christ talk about transsexuals or the sin in calling someone by their preferred name for her to talk about it being a sin? That said, there used to be a very powerful Gay and Lesbian National Task Force. Does that exist? We don't hear much from these LGBTQ organizations anymore. For instance, you would think that every time JK Rowling makes a transphobic remark, they would reply.
I will never understand why people are bigots. There is no gain, materially or mentally, in any form, for being an asshole to another person just for being someone you don't like. For stealing at least you get the thing you stole, and for murder it's the satisfaction of the kill or the impacts of said kill. But for bigotry, there's nothing, no gain at all, no benefit, nothing. I think that this is even worse than instituitionalized bigotry because at least someone is benefitting from the instituition even if it's at the cost of some other group's way of life. In fact you're suffering a loss from all the mental exhaustion of trying to prove your point. No one wins. I wouldn't say these people are evil, they're stupid.

Nah, she demonstrated incompetence in her area of expertise by arguing for prescriptivism in the use of language. Hope she loses her licensure. And that judge would not be making the argument that discomfort wasn't evidence of a title IX violation if it was racial slurs instead of misgendering. They would call a student by registered name instead of legal without question if their parents were getting divorced. This is absolutely BS.
So the teacher has a right to use a name that is consistent with her beliefs. So if there is a gay kid in her class named Tommy for example. Can she say "In consistency with my beliefs, Tommy, I will not be calling you by that name and I now name you "Faggot." and the judge is like "Yeah, that works for me, it is consistent with her belief. Like who was their lawyer. Also the part about she was denying them an equal education, the woman asked for them to be removed from her classroom because she refused to teach them. That is denying them that education. All I know is that my mother would have come to the school and addressed the teacher and if she would have continued my mother would have put a knot in her ass. She wouldn't have to be fired but she would learn fast not to disrespect my child.
The ruling wouldn't empower a trans-affirming teacher. I would bet money that those trans-rejecting parents would win in that case by suing in the exact same courtroom. Stop acting like unintended positive consequences of hateful rulings are possible when the only ACTUAL ruling is "give us and those like us unlimited power and fuck people we don't like."
what if a teacher said “ i want to call all the black students the n word” it’s against my religion to call them anything else. is the judge gonna say ya that’s ok they just look a bit uncomfortable. it helps the black students build tolerance, its not like it impedes their ability to function in school! it’s the same fuc%ing thing! misgendering trans kids and dead naming them is the same as calling black students the n word!!! this is so effing disgusting!
