When someone asks what nier is “so it’s basically if you put depression and sadness and agony and existentialism in a blender and that’s how you get nier
Thinking about it now, this *is* Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 7 came before it where famously Arieth perma-died. So playing the part where Rinoa gets lost in space soon after that must've been way more nerve wracking back then.
Just finished my playthrough of this game. Did NOT see any of that coming in Ending E. Just like Fran, I thought I was going to have to replay the entire game again to get the last ending. Fun little fact: if you fully upgrade Kaine's sword, your character's name appears in the final part of its story.
it was a typical trope back then to do the whole lets make them believe the mc is dead, lead you into a false sense of security then show that they actually are alive. I have no idea why people keep saying his dead.
13:46 when i played in the first time... My mind blowed in confusion EXACTLY your reaction lol. "I supose to kill this machines? They are so harmless and happy", i thought. With this AMAZING song that mix the joy of the circus with an melancholy sadness, makes this part of the game very important to me. Amusement Park is my favorite song of the ost
I remember seeing the reveal trailer and thinking “Meh” even though I love Japanese culture and fantasy, then I heard about the demo and thought “Why not try it” and I was pleasantly surprised, I’m actually thinking of buying day one, the art style is amazing and I love the Okami influence (shout out Okami, everyone should try it if they haven’t)
The best thing about it is that I cried during the last scene I cried not because of the scene in the game, but because of your crying 36:39 May God protect you, take good care of yourself because your soul is very beautiful
