This game gets extra layers of sadness when you finish KHUX and KHDR and probably even more when KHML is released.

I literally just realized why axel bugged roxas so much about if he remembered anything from his past life in 358 it’s literally because axel thinks he remembered meeting him, and in an overly complicated way he did since ventus heart lived in sora was used to create soras nobody how did I not catch this detail before

- Xehanort put Terra through one hell of a gaslighting exercise. Whether it was with Maleficent or Braig, he managed to hurt Terra's self-esteem enough to make him vulnerable enough to much-wanted approval. And when it seemed like Terra and Eraqus would finally have a chance to reconcile with each other, Xehanort changes gears by antagonizing Terra as much as possible to push him over the edge. All this, just to turn Terra into a vessel of his own...! (If you're wondering, Terra's soul ended up using his armor as a makeshift body. I guess that makes Lingering Will technically a Nobody...?) - Oh, right. Their Keyblade Armors were supposed to have capes, but they caused some visual issues in the original release. So, Lingering Will just FOOMPHS the cape into existence at the end of Terra's story. - Neat that Ven has met almost everybody whose Nobodies would form Organization XIII - Dilan, Aeleus, Even, Ienzo, Lea, and Isa in Radiant Garden, Xehanort from his past, Braig in the Keyblade Graveyard, Sora in the Dive to the Heart, and...ahem, maybe others. - "Poetic excuses!" Honestly, a good counterargument against a lot of KH villains' motives. - Sora's Japanese VA really wanted a chance to play a villain. Vanitas gave him (and Haley) that chance. - It's kinda unclear what happened with the Tremaines, but the way Aqua and Cinderella arced their heads upward suggests they were merely launched back. - Yes, Kairi unwittingly gained the right to wield a Keyblade by touching Aqua's key. - Remember when Fairy Godmother told Aqua that violence isn't always the best way to handle those with darkened hearts? I'd like to believe that influenced her actions in Deep Space, and why she stood against Gantu (who was trying to do what Aqua almost attempted against the Tremaines). - Aqua kinda shares traits with all of the Destiny trio - she's a mediating gal like Kairi, a hardened warrior like Riku, and a spirited meddler like Sora. (Remember, Xehanort's plan only required Terra and Ven.) - ...Can we agree that Terra-Xehanort is probably the most terrifying version of Xehanort?

This game hurts no matter how many times I've played it. 😭 Your Kingdom Hearts reactions are my favorite! Can't wait to see more!

That secret ending cutscene with all the characters always makes me tear up, especially with Dearly Beloved playing in the background. Best cutscene in the series.

Fun Fact: BBS Volume 2 was originally slated to be ANOTHER game before 3 detailing the journey's of all the characters who travelled the Realm of Darkness. If it was going to be anything like Vol 1, there would have been 3 playable characters: Aqua, Riku and Mickey. This obviously got reworked into the demo featuring Aqua, but all three of those characters are extremely prominent in it for that reason.

It's not important to know, but do note that it was Xehanort who struck the final blow to Master Eraqus. It's subtle, but you can see the blast hit him from behind.

The most emotional part is me going through each stage of grief twice in a row while fighting vanitas remnant and then mysterious figure back to back

I like how, at the end, Xehanort did the same heart trick that Sora did. Difference is: Xehanort's a Master, and knows how to NOT screw it up. Also, Sora gave SORT OF, gave birth to his and Kairi's twin children who for some reason, take after "Uncle" Ven. lol

I never put together ventus’ other half looking sora is supposed to be a direct parallel to sora’s other half looking like ventus

Ven is my favorite character in the franchise! Also, in the comments of another Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep video (I think it was on the channel LeighXP) someone says that “Ven” translates to “friend” in Danish, so he’s literally saying “call me friend”

Birth by Sleep ~Volume 2~ (a fragmentary passage) was meant to be a full game covering all of the screen lore of the series at that point, but it would release years later as a short tech demo for KH3 bc of switching to a different engine, in which we only cover Aqua's bit in the Realm of Darkness rather than other off screen moments. Would've been nice to see the RoD and other off screen moments in the old engine.

I’m glad the story is so good. Sometimes watching people play the game part of this game is like watching someone move a pile of sand with tweezers, while they have a shovel strapped to their back and the keys to a nearby bulldozer in their pocket.

A really cool detail that i think a lot of first time players maybe dont get right away is the place where Aqua leaves Ven, its Castle Oblivion (Like, Land of Departure converted to Castle Oblivion) and its SO clever because if the player played the games in order of release (or like, watched it) then you can recognize that's where all of Chain of Memories took place... So yeah, really cool when i realized for the first time...

I'm editing together a movie version of this with all 3 stories intertwined. Getting it done one tear at a time.

One of the heartbreaking things about the secret ending is that, at least partially, Aqua isn't crying in relief. Time doesn't pass normally in the dark realm. It barely moves at all, if it does move. So when Aqua hears that the boy who, last she saw, was only *five* is now saving the world, it's only just setting in that she's been in the dark for a *decade*. Ventus is still asleep. Terra is still a prisoner. She's been lost for ten years. But she puts that aside, and does her best to put her hope in that boy she met.

This is my favorite KH game (and trio!) so this video sure was fun to watch LOL 💖💖 You’re awesome

Its not Canon but the Birth By Sleep manga is supposedly really good. Vanitas is apparently more sympathetic in it. Also in latin: Terra: Earth Aqua: Water Ventus: Wind Parallels to the main gang. Riku: Land Kairi: Ocean Sora: Sky One Sky, one destiny and all that. Also Vanitas: Empty.

Birth By Sleep and 358/2 Days are legit the saddest entries in the franchise, where there are no happy endings for our protagonists. With friends being torn apart and subjected to tragedy all from the schemes of one old man obsessed with Darkness. These 2 games also set the premise for Kingdom Hearts 3, where you as Sora and Riku have to rescue all the past protagonists and set things right. Ultimately in the end, you will find out that even Xehanort who was pulling all the strings from the background was nothing more than a puppet or chess piece on someone else's board. The true villain that had set the entire events in motion for the entire franchise so far by feeding Xehanort information about Kingdom Hearts and Keyblade War had been hiding in plain sight all along. It is akin to Uchiha Madara from Naruto who had schemed and manipulated the entire events in the story up till the success of his plan, only to be revealed that the true villain that set Madara on this path was Black Zetsu all along.
