well im having the issue it just flashes and itz not engaging......im dissapointed by Toyota.....4x4 Landcruiser shiuld not have these issuez. I want to have the old school level back. Super reliable feature it was.
Great video! Likewise I always tow in S4 and monitor transmission temp with a ScanGauge. I keep revs at between 2300 and 2600 regardless of road speed using the gearbox as a clutchless manual. I tow a 3tonne van. Recently I was driving outback in western NSW. Road was rubbish and speed was on average about 55km/h and I was towing mostly in S3. The interesting thing was that my fuel economy was the best I have ever achieved whilst towing, 20.7 l/100km. Could not believe it. Usually I am getting 22 to 24l/100km.
Hey, Hope your doing great, I change the actuators for new ones, but diff lock still flashing and it doesn’t work, any correcto form to put the gears on?
If it still isn't engaging properly it may be more than the actuators that are the problem. It could also be that the contacts in the actuators are in the correct position....
After watching your video I nailed it, knowing what position the push rods need to be in (disengaged) and the alignment of the contacts the main body the critical bit. Hint for anyone trying it, look for the pit mark to find it, note: they are both different, CDL is about 11oclock and HILO is about 10oclock just look for the marks on the contacts
Hey guys Just bought 21,6 double bunk second hand. How do you clean the flyscreen and are they miggy proof ? Second are you still travelling? Cheers Marcus
Congrats on the purchase, we found ours to be semi midgee proof... the roof vent mesh isn't so we kept them closed and we put midgee mesh screen on the security door as it had the channel to run the mesh rope (like a fly screen at home)... other people have sprayed the mesh with mozzie spray from the inside out, but we never tried that as we figured it would attract the dust.... yellow/orange tape on the outside lights will help keep the bugs down too.... unfortunately we just sold our van, we have settled back into normal life now :(
Hi Mark, do you run the dcdv charger and 3 way fridge from the same (one only) anderson plug on your tow vehicle. If yes what size wiring are you using and does the fridge get enough power. Thanks and great vidoe. Danny
Hey mate, fridge is a 12v compressor fridge so it just runs off the house batteries all the time... the 12v from the tow vehicle goes to the dc dc charger then into the house batteries, dexter sway control and all other 12v devices 👌👌 as for wire size, bigger is better 💪💪 all depends on how long and what amps ur running 🍻🍻
Back to prison, rethink that one,or are you those parents who need time out, shouldn't have had kids eh,cant you see our educational system is shi.I have never used pie r squared. All the❤ and the power
well lucky you, obvious you dont know every law like every good citizen should abide by to the tee ,not........ ps,,love the home schoolin, way 2 go...all the love and all the power and remember the couple that play together stay together filbz
Ha ha, I know I must have missed that one while reading the rule book 🤪 ours kids have benefited so much from our travels now they are back to normal school, so glad we did it 💪💪
Dude, the whole reason I'm looking into getting towing mirrors is for the split mirror. I drive semis in the states and I can back a 53' trailer using the convex mirrors. I think you're doing yourself an injustice not getting used to using them. Lets you keep track of your rear tires and blind spots while having your main mirrors set up for keeping track of your side.
Hey mate, I was fine using them... no dramas with the vision but more the fact that they were huge and smashing my doors... also the paint flaking off is not that crash hot either... I can see pretty much the same amount with the new mirrors, but each to their own... bloody good effort backing those big girls, I take my hat off to ya 🍻🍻
@@marciogallegos7049 it was a genuine Toyota part... I can't guarantee that it will fit the earlier LC200 (pre facelift)... google partsouq.com and they have a great part number reference system.... good luck 🍻🍻
Great video, just one comment, I recently changed to lithium in my motorhome, Projecta charger had a profile that the battery retailer said was fine for lithium but the system crashed and the battery BMS shut the batteries down. It seems there's a specific algorithm for lithium, not just the charging profile
I don't understand why anyone would have an issue with trying to judge distances with looking at the bottom mirror on the Clear views, technically it's called a spotter mirror, it's deliberately convex to enable you to see anything that would normally be a blind spot like the lane next to you (more helpful on a left mirror) it's not designed to be used to reverse. The MSA mirror seems to be roughly the same size as the CV main mirror without the spotter mirror so obviously without the extra mirror it would miss any body panel when folded in. On the subject of either mirror being folded in, tho the MSA seems it wouldn't make contact with the body of the car, if it is given a hard enough whack, instead of hitting a solid panel it would put the window at potential risk of being shattered. There really is no saying one is better than the other, they are both excellent mirrors for towing with one having less of a safety advantage of seeing the blind spot. What I would like to see the manufacturers add in either mirror is an electric fold as I have in my Jackaroo and an electric 2 stage extension, even though it would make them somewhat slightly more expensive, the simple convenience of not having to exist your vehicle or needing someone to physically fold or pull in the mirrors every time you get to a narrow part of a track would be a godsend. Also your CV's have a 3-year Manufacturer’s Warranty so you could've tried claiming the paint issue on warrantee.
Definitely a matter of personal preference, but the msa doesn't hit the window when folded back.... also the CV are over 3 years old so the warranty was not available.... it is more a preference thing of what people prefer so there is no right or wrong answer as to what is better/easier to use... this was just my findings 🍻
It looked a little like the open ends of the new transmission lines and the fixed bayonet fittings were ingesting some of that red dust. Before you started that installation it might have been a good idea to do a pressure rinse of the area you were to be working in.
100% agree about cleanliness when working on fluid systems... unfortunately I can't clean everything 100% either, it did get a wash before but as u can see we do go places that just shoce the dirt right up there, ha ha....
Thanks Marc for a great video. Just like to know if your happy with the engine and transmission remap. I did see one comment you made that the lock up clutch unlocks often and is a bit annoying. If you had your time again would you install a lock up box ? Regards Trev
Cheers for the feedback mate 🍻 I actually has the lockup box before the remap and it used to annoy me especially if u forgot it was on (was an older one that wasn't automatically turned off) and the car would almost stall when coming to a stop... had to quickly switch it off before it stalled 🤦♂️🤦♂️ can say now after travelling over 70,000kms with the van we couldn't be happier with the tune 👌👌 getting an extra cooler is also worth the cost 💪
Thanks for the reply Marc Can you please tell what your fuel economy is when towing your van fully loaded and when your not towing and empty both around town and on the highway Regards Trev
@@TrevorBoyd-ni6yi fully loaded we would get around 22l/100kms and that was doing 100km/hr highway stuff.... obviously it would fluctuate with hills and elevation etc.... unloaded would get around the 15l mark.... we are heavy with drawers, long range tank, bar work, awning, hi lift jack etc... so it could be lower if we were as loaded ;)
Are those polyurethane bushings? I was under the impression that you can torque the upper control arm bolt with the truck on a lift with that type of bushing due to how it sits in the control arm vs a standard bushing. I just did JBA control arms and they said it was okay to torque the bolt down while truck on jacks and suspension not loaded. ( l lowered it to the ground and loosened and re-torqued bolts just to be safe) Just curious on your thoughts
To be honest I couldn't tell u, it is just has been drilled into me when I was an apprentice so it is just a habit now... I suppose just follow the instructions specific to the product used 👌🍻🍻
Would never have thought to check the top before installing great tip we have a new network as well searched for line hack and ended up here. We ripped our blue sticker off straight away haha
common problem of burned contacts in Lo/Diff actuator. Usually caused by non use. If you only use high 4 then it is good to engage Lo and Lock once a month.
Yeep the screens on these networks are garbage currently have excess of 200 bugs in my van can’t leave the lights on is a nightmare may as well have stuck to my tent
Oh no that sucks, we ended up chucking midgee mesh on the main door and got some Velcro attached the the 2 main skylights with midgee mesh attached to them.... drastically reduced our bug intake :) also someone recommended spraying the fly mesh with fly spray 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Don't do it. You never need to change transmission filter unless there is contaminated fluid with dirt or water in the transmission fluid. Transmission is the most expensive part of your vehicle. Only do a drain and fill... Not a flush! each 50k miles. In case of a transmission flush required the transmission electronic control module needs to be reset and there is a 2 week transmission learning period where you need to take the vehicle for a transmission electronic service 2 weeks after the flush. They do a level check and complete the transmission learning cycle... I love the video tho. No offense
All good mate, I was a mechanic for Toyota for 5 years and have done plenty of tans services... I don't think they need to do all the things ur talking about, has been a year and a half since I have done it and no issues.... thanks anyway for the feedback 👌👌
Love those Kenda Klever RTs. They wore like iron on my GX460. Ran 275/70R18s (33.5") on the factory wheels and enjoyed them on and off road. Pretty tame noise levels for the amount of grip they offer. Also have a set of their 31" ATs on my GX470 for daily driving. They seem to wear a little faster but they are winter rated so thats expected with that compound.
They are an OK tyre, I had to replace 3 in 80,000kms but they were all sidewall damage... perhaps overloaded?? We also did do a lot of rocky terrain and dirt roads so may e that is acceptable ;) glad ur having a good run with yours 🍻🍻
@@DucruznOZbummer! You are probably really giving them a workout though. I had one replaced early on after picking up a bolt in the sidewall. Tire shop said it was unrepairable but we had road hazard coverage so it cost me $20. I did however not tow so I can't speak to running higher pressures. Just had a massive Tuff Stuff Alpha roof top tent and loaded with camping gear to the gills for 5 day trips off grid in some pretty gnarly areas like Big Bend State Park and some off-road park shenanigans. Aired down to 18-20psi and they did well even with sharp rocks in Colorado. Sometimes we are just unlucky. I felt like I went through an entire set of MTR Kevlars in a year. All sidewall failures after friends swore by them. Each time the had zipper rips in a bad place to have a flat 😂
@@marcochavanne sounds like a sweet setup, would love to go exploring in the states 😎😎 i think tyres are hit and miss with most people.... can't win em all 🍻🍻
When we went no one was camping on the beach, also the ramp down was really chopped up :( still a great spot, looks more like Perlubie now with the amount of people there 😥
Great to see the how much protection the wrap provided. Did the wrap look that it needed replacing? Would it be realistic to expect getting 2 years or more before needing to replace the wrap if youre regularly driving gravel outback roads?
It did do an amazing job, the wrap still looked great.. some spot that had lifted in the corner looked a bit shabby, but I just trimmed them off with a stanely knife and reheated the edge and it was good to go. I got 18 months out of a 12 month product, but they do a 5 and 10 year one now 👌👌
Ha ha, no dramas... I know the new clearvoews are smaller but the whole paint flaking off thing has put me off them until these MSA's have something majorly go wrong with them 🍻 safe travels 😎
When we bought the clearvoews they only had the split style mirror... u r right though, the new ones are a bit smaller but if the paint goes bad like the first gen that puts me off 😥
So your one of those guys well i sit on 93km/hr as does my work mate and the economy is usually about 14.5 l per hundred my van and car are usually 5800kg I have the ultra gauge and have found leaving the trans in auto works the best for my Ranger bi turbo 10 speed all standard aprt from a catch can.
I now sit at around 100 now I have lightened my load 😎😎 just be careful with the 10 spd, have had a few mates blow em up towing big vans... don't really know if ur comment is asking anything either... happy travels
The 10 speeds have been very durable the 6 speeds have had the issues there was a remapping done on the earlier releases back in 2019 to 2020 but sine then nothing has been outstanding in the way of faults. A young bloke at work early thirties has a fully tricked LC200 and has had it in limp mode at least 3 times that i know of due to the trans overheating and he only tows a camper. @@DucruznOZ
@@Sabumnim666 great stuff, suppose every car has their pro's and con's.... just speaking from what I have experienced and come across in our travels ;)
Yeah we stayed at no12 at greenpatch for its big but we have only offroad campertrailer dmax xterrain and put up a 3 metre gazebo Then went to narooma then lake conjola Enjoy😂😂
