Jessie was my favourite character in DR 1, cause like you mentioned. I adored the niche she filled, being way more up on the plot than Frank and trying to pull rank on him while also in reality being a lot less experienced than Frank Killing her as a zombie hit like a truck because Frank never got a proper goodbye with her. She was just, dead. Another person swallowed up by the disaster surrounding the plot.
Heres a few based on your mastery of mixed drinks: Spitting Image: Defeat all psychopaths using your saliva. If that's too hard we can settle for one. Reward: increased spit distance/damage/spitfire duration, take your pick. Hands Off!: Kill 25 zombies with melee weapons/fists without getting grabbed while zombait is active (and untouchable is not active). Reward: idk some spiky Gothic clothing. Energized: Nullify 10 blocks of health (or less, depending on feasiblity) while under the effects of one Energizer. Reward: One of those goofy looking muscle suit costumes (or a military journalist suit with "PRESS" on it). 5K Frank: Traverse from Colby's Movieland to Crislip's on foot without going outside or taking the shortcut in under X minutes (I haven't timed it out). Reward: Track Outfit Beekeeper: Collect 10 Queens under the effect of Nectar. Reward: Beekeeper outfit. Gut Gambler: Get every mixed drink effect at least once by drinking Randomizer. Reward: A Diaper Twice Shy: Take 10 points of damage from zombies while Untouchable is active. Reward: Hazmat Suit.
Dead rising 1 was a bit more clunky but I have to say they still have the best skill moves and variety. Off the record is second best but they got rid of some of the little details and even moves altogether. For example the roundhouse kick if you hold this joystick and tilt it down (towards you the player) he will do a leg sweep instead, which has the benefit of taking out all zombies in front of crank and even a bit on the sides as well as giving 30PP instead of 10, the drawback is that he won’t aim the leg sweep and instead only do the strike where you are facing when you land. Fair trade off though. Additionally you can combine that with the wall somersault kick and do the leg sweep/roundhouse kick. In DR 2 OTR they got Rid of those little tricks.
There is another Unused Ending it's when The military captures Nick Dick and Diego When Diego Gets Tested on The Queen bees come out of him and the regular thing is nick manages to escape those restraints but in a Unused Outcome Nick Fails to escape from the restraints and a Zombie Comes up to nick and starts eating him so i don't know that ending but i saw that unused ending a long time ago
I think that was more of a game-over state than an ending, but it was cut content. Probably meant to be a QTE like Frank getting kidnapped by the Special Forces in the first game.
This game might as well have been just a straight reboot of the franchise. Frank regressed entirely from the character development he had in the earlier games. It takes place in Willamette again for seemingly no reason outside of just because thats where DR1 happened. Plus DR3 ended with a cure being developed which is pretty much the ultimate goal of any zombie story. I dont think the story would have been received any better than it was but it would at least be viewed as "That bad attempt at a reboot that everyone ignores" to "The worst possible sequel that could have been made that almost killed the entire franchise".
hammer throw is the most overpowered move in the game, im surprised theres no mention of it considering it kills tons of zombies in large numbers and youre invincible while youre doing it
I have to disagree somewhat on Jolie and Rachel, I'm not sure I would place them high but at least a bit higher. going slow enough you have Jolie defend Rachel with the shove and Wayne takes care of the rest, it's not a tricky or hard duo to save even on a new playthrough from Level 1, I even do the stupid challenge at times where you have to finish the game with Rachel by your side until Hideout and I never had a problem with it
I feel like Frank was a high school wrestler or a big fan of Mike Haggar. A good chunk of his moves are wrestler moves. Heck you can even get Mike Haggars outfit in 4 and they both have the same pants
I always wondered why coffee creamer comes in 1 gallon jug when I think of coffee creamer, I think of the one from DR2, the little plastic cylinder can.
Yeah, you'd think the carton of Milk being turned into coffee cream would have made more sense, especially since it's counted as a separate food item in the game's coding.
Regarding your comments about learning to speedrun games, I really felt it. Ever since I learned the speedrunning tech and all the skips for Halo CE, H2 & Reach for their MCC achievements, as well as Super Mario 64, it has become VERY hard for me to go back to the intended slow-paced to play them. Which granted, the skips are very fun to pull off, but that still means that if I try to play them slow again, I just end up getting bored and go back to trying skips and speedrunning tech.
To be fair with speed running mario 64 alot of techs are so simple you can use them in a mix of casual speedrun that's actually really enjoyable. I figured that could work with other games too.
"Dead Rising but Carlito snuck laxatives into every piece of food in the mall" Nice use of the MVC2 Servbot and Project X Zone Frank sprites in the thumbnail.
