I’m not growing hydroponic I’m growing in soil. Can I still fertilize my plants through watering or should I use fertilizer powder in the soil? Everywhere I see this I see it’s used for hydroponics growing

hi. yes, you can fertilize through watering. I use masterblend as my hydroponic nutrient solution and you can also use masterblend for soil based plants.

oh, many places offer seeds. I buy at times in supermarket (like the marigold), or even hardware stores. then there is always online. just make sure there's an expiration date so you know if seeds are good.

you may need to place 4 of the lights in a row. it also depends on what you're growing. but those lights are good for most microgreens, good also for others like lettuce, pechay, basil, bokchoi, kale, cilantro, or any green leafy vegetables in general. have fun!

@journeytohydroponics6964
@journeytohydroponics6964 6 месяцев назад
base your t8 on the lumen rating which should be over 2k and Kelvin over 5k. usually most 16-18 watts daylight give this depending on manufacturer. leave lights on from 6am to 8pm

Does the Okra plant really keep on producing Okras whole year round? How many years does it stop producing? (warm tropical weather)
@journeytohydroponics6964
@journeytohydroponics6964 6 месяцев назад
hi. I've had ocra harvest in batches of around 4 to 5 times and after that, my variety was not as productive as before. And I usually start with a new veggie plant to see what else I can grow hydroponically except for basil which is my favorite (so its always planted.) Okras are supposed to be indeterminate plants though so they should last a year.
@vnckkw

Great outcome. However, I wouldn't recommend putting any kind of flat plastic and weights onto the seeds like you did in the beginning. Doing that prevented you from actually watching your seeds to see when they sprouted. Then when you finally did check on them they were very leggy. I'm surprised they weren't damaged by the weight. The moment they sprout, you want to put the grow lights right on them so they won't end up so leggy like they did. You could've just put a plastic bag over them, some plastic saran wrap, or the original lid of the container. But like I said, great outcome.

Tried hydroponics, can't see the advantages, understand if there is limited space ?! Impossible to keep out algae & constantly check/refill water, pump, nutrients ?!
@journeytohydroponics6964
@journeytohydroponics6964 9 месяцев назад
I think the main advantage is that with hydro-kratky (no pumps needed) and LED lights - I can grow veggies under a clean environment with cocopeat, especially for indoor gardening. I don't use soil and all the bugs that come along with it. I have no problems with algae as long as the containers are covered, and refilling allows me to visit the plants which I enjoy doing. Using nutrient solution saves me the worry I had before, unlike with soil, I always had to think about compost and fertilizer :)

@journeytohydroponics6964
@journeytohydroponics6964 10 месяцев назад
hi! if you're new to hydroponics, may i suggest you try microgreens first ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rkKUL16iJrw.html (there are links in this video for more) just to feel the cocopeat without the need of nutrient solution. then eventually, learn about how to mix nutrient solution and how to use a ph reader to move on to growing veggies including cucumbers using the kratky method (which i use). kratky is the simplest hydroponic method because you can recycle food containers and you do not need pumps like other hydro methods.
