if you added more weight to the bow area or foredeck would the boat plane better considering the aft section outboard weight and passenger weight off the cg ???
Cavitation refers to bubble coming off the prop. Not sure what these plates would do for that. Plates look like trim tabs that effectively lengthen the waterline and should help with porpoising.
Man there so cool. Olde clinker style ski boats. Resurrection. smaller and cheaper. I would love to try and launch something like that in our river. Great work.👍
That’s a unique and beautiful take on the Zip. Using the kit, instead of building the whole thing from scratch, how many hours does it take from start to finish?
Hi Michael, Glen-l recommends 40 horsepower maximum. We have a 30 horsepower 4 stroke Suzuki on ours and realized 30 miles an hour with two adults a cooler and couple of Grandkids. For more information on the Zip see the link below and please check out our ZipKit, www.boatdesigns.com/14-Zip-twin-cockpit-runabout/products/378/

Hi Phillip, We conservatively estimate 300 hours from start to launch to complete the Zip from the kit. See the time lapse of our builder James. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k2BRnqPzsqE.html

Man I would love to TRY to build this, what about shipping what is the cost to ship across the country to the east coast and how careful are the shippers
@Dan Coffman. The "Zip" is a Glen-L Design and they already sell all the supplies in kit form for the Zip. www.boatdesigns.com/14-Zip-twin-cockpit-runabout/products/378/
Feels like it had not been troubleshooted enough before the additions. Crisp edge to transom?, Wrong angle on transom? Weight distribution? Wrong shaft engine? Feels like this kit rarely has porpoising when built... On rare occasion utility built boats have this. Tank near the rear? heck, I'd even say engine wedges could have solved the trim issue.
