A 5.56 rifle should never recoil that hard. It’s why no SOF wanted this piece of crap.
@ConcealedSteel
@ConcealedSteel 9 дней назад
That's not why. 16s has almost negative recoil. There's lots of things about it that would make me choose an AR over it though.

@@ConcealedSteel Hi. I was a tester on an Operational Detachment- Alpha (Army Special Forces team) back in 2010 and my report highlighted the inadequacies of the piston driven operating system of the SCAR 16 that created unnecessarily heavy recoil, the adjustable gas block that failed to reciprocate the bolt when suppressed, and the reciprocating charging handle that got caught in equipment or hands. The SCAR 16 did not outperform the MK18 which is why my team turned them back in, which we later learned were then reissued to DHS. It’s a cool rifle to have for nostalgia. But I can speak for the Green Berets on my team: The recoil sucks for a 5.56. Which shows in the first few seconds of this video. 💁🏻‍♂️

I've been debating on what to buy more than a year honestly. I shoot 7.62x39 but on an ar platform. It's just for hogs/varmint hunting. I have no real benchmark for performance, I have considered the Enticer L because it seems to have good performance for cost. But the ODB seems great. I just don't know how to justify more than double the cost. Sucks that all the places around me in TX only offer suppressors at indoor ranges lol.
@ConcealedSteel
@ConcealedSteel 20 дней назад
I know that the cost sucks for the ODB but IMO the lack of back pressure is WELL worth it. Long baffle type silencers like the Enticer are awesome for 300 BLK subs on semi autos, but I really don't enjoy them for any caliber shooting supersonic ammo. It makes for a very gassy experience.

@juncho1977 When it has a 16" barrel and a magnified optic it would shoot just over an inch with Hornady 75 grain frontier/tap t2. I never really messed with match ammo or bench shooting much though. Never tried 69gr ammo which I read that the 16s likes more.

All of this is great info, it does not surprise me though that the longer CAT ODB A1 performed the best in the setting you were in with the roof etc considering it's overall length. Although, I still find it impressive that the K can performed at the level it did considering overall length and the fact they offer this can in a lightweight titanium option now. I'd say for a designated CQB gun i'd still run the 556k TI for it's size/performance ratio but if I were a customer who only wanted to purchase one can that can do it all the ODB is the way to go.

@tehlawlcat I never tried it but based on the ejection that I'm getting it would probably be a little light on gas. I have a discarder on that gun now and I run it down 3-4 click from max open. @ConcealedSteel
@ConcealedSteel 2 месяца назад
@sethperry1323 I'm going to be no help here, lol. I don't have a 6mm. For me, I'd probably approach that choice thinking about versatility, or, what else would I use that silencer on. If it's only for a bolt gun that I intend to hunt with I'm probably getting the CAT ODB in titanium. The Hydrogen L, JL, AB10, Nomad L, DD Enticer LTI, etc, are longer than I want to deal with on an already long rifle while hunting. Also, If I'm in a scenario where I only shoot at public ranges, I'd also go shorter/lighter, because you'll never hear it without hearing protection anyway. Best answer is to check out prescience rankings.
@ericsrussell
@ericsrussell Месяц назад
@@sethperry1323in theory, for a bolt gun, low back pressure cans are a waste for you. Go caliber specific, and find the tipping point for length/performance. Low back pressure = louder at the muzzle. You will get performance from a standard type can on a bolt gun.

@@ConcealedSteel it looked like you needed modification, I wonder if there is always modification or if some muzzle devices would not work
@ConcealedSteel

The only reason was because I wanted to use proprietary HUXWRX muzzle devices with this hub silencer. This is a normal hub silencer and any normal hub mount and accessories will work. Huxwrx qd muzzle devices are not made to work with hub cans. The adapter that I bought and modified is no standard mount by any means. Hub is hub (which is 1.375x24 thread pitch), and will work with any hub, or 1.375x24 mounts perfectly.

This was a great video, thanks for showing them off. The Timney looks much better to use IMO, I was surprised you said you prefer the Geissele. The Timney looked to have shorter reset, shorter travel, and a crisp AF single stage. That seems better to me.
@ConcealedSteel
@ConcealedSteel 3 месяца назад
The timney wasn't strong enough for some ammo in my gun. I got a lot of light primer strikes on tul ammo 308. That was a deal breaker for me. Other than that, the timney is fine. I've never had a light strike with a geissele (those geisseles are still in both of my SCARs). Lots of rounds through both at this point, I've owned the 17s for around 11 years, and the 16s for going on 8 years now.

Supposedly the titanium versions will erode pretty quickly if you get them above 650 deg F. Yeah, I certainly wouldn't recommend getting the titanium version of the ODB for general 5.56 SBR use. I do keep it on this gun at home for the unthinkable. IMO, this can shines the most on a gun that you'd hunt with, or a 300 blackout for subs. The reason that I put it to the test on an 11.5 was purely for science.

Not what I said at all. I think you should really decide what is most important to you from the factors of, weight, length, muzzle suppression, shooter's ear suppression, back pressure, etc, as well as ability to work on more platforms than 5.56. Also, don't ever forget that wearing hearing protection is pretty much mandatory for anything over a couple of rounds f you don't want to lose your hearing. So splitting hairs over a few decibels isn't worth the witch hunt IMO.
