I started this channel to help as many people as possible by sharing what I know about Tai Chi and Qigong, to make a resource for my students to use during their training sessions at home, and to help those who want to learn these arts but do not have any instructors in there local area. While videos cannot replace an instructor, they are better than nothing.
On this channel you will find instructional videos in various Tai Chi and Qigong exercises, demo videos of some of the forms I teach, and a couple of videos from my time in China.
I hope you find some of the videos on this channel useful, even if it's just for a laugh, and I wish you all the best in your in your Tai Chi journey.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. You said the hand follow the step. And then how about the eyes? Before hand or following hand or after hand? I am looking forward your answer. Thank you!
Hi, I am new to Tai Chi. You mentioned to watch videos with individual positions prior to watching this video. Please let me know what is the first video to watch with individual movements prior to watching the above video which combines all the movements together, My teacher recommends your videos to me. I understand why because you are an excellent teacher.
Thank you so much for teaching in a way that I can actually understand what my body is supposed to be doing. This is so much more than a pretty dance and we need to understand what’s happening. 🙏🏽😊
Hi Andrew, your videos are educational. Thanks. I just bought a used Long quan jian from a classmate. There seemed to be some darkish spots on the blade front and back....more towards the tip of the sword (1/3 of the blade). I just watched your maintenance video which is very helpful. So, will the oil cleaning process remove the spots? I haven't tried it yet, hope to research further first. Hope to see your reply soon. Thanks again.
Yin / inhale is clockwise. Yang / exhale is counter clockwise. Gathering energy needs to be clockwise in motion . To keep the energy from dissipating we need anti clockwise .
This is the best video on Tai Chi 24 I have seen, bar none. It’s an incredible piece of work. I can’t overstate how helpful it is. Thank you for doing this.
Really impressed with your teaching and skill doing this form! I've heard a few famous Tai Ji instructors from China criticize teachers saying that the Tai Ji Classics all state that weight should be transferred 100% from one foot to another in almost all the movements, but few can do it. You can see that you are not double weighted especially while you are moving so slowly! Pretty amazing that you can teach and perform the movements so slowly at the same time! Excellent!
I ended up with a knee sprain after doing zz, but after watching this video I think I have been rolling one ankle over to an outward position. Many thanks.
I know that this is a meditative form of martial arts. However, observe the fluid motion, almost not disturbing anything in its path and movement. Now imagine employing this gentle martial art form into a weaponized form of tai-chi martial art. The strongest point of contact in any physical violence is from zero to an explosive contact making tai-chi a very efficient and effective from of lethal combat.
Andrew, mystery sword fingers are ideal for all sorts of soft tissue mayhem, putting out eyes, collapsing windpipes, pulling out ribs, dislocating shoulders through armpit strikes, the list goes on ! Bill P.
aha, this is tai chi: the more you train the better you get in tai chi. Practising in a fitness studio may help? Lifting weights even help more for tai chi? Building huge muscles helps most? Just asking.
Dear Andrew, Good performance, but it is the application for the "Diagonal Flying". "Parting the Horse's Mane" looks a little bit differ and its meaning is to break the arm at the elbow. Unfortunately these two forms are often misunderstood, because they looks similar.
