Great review @helmethead ive been sat on a XL1200 custom in my local dealer. Its a gorgeous bike and well finished. Definitely my next bike but with a bigger screen.
I ride (GoldWing) but seriously people keep saying you get wind, smells and temperature changes on a motorcycle. As if cars don't get winds through windows being down, smells stop outside cars and go around them and temperature changes can't be felt through open windows? I'm all for it being different but these three traits don't even require a convertible. Just open windows and the A/C turned off on a car.
Hello!. Obviously you a very young and inexperienced boy in older bikes. I'm 54 and i have 45ish in all type of motorcycles. 1cylinder, 4 in line, v-twins, boxers and of course, 90 degrees twin motorcycles. The ABS, the TC, and all these "gadgets" are ok for newbies and for make the motorcycles more secure and and more, more expensives, but, hide the experience of ride a real motorcycle. You need to test some 70, 80 and 90's motorcycles, and taste the pleasure to drive a truly motorcycle. When you push the brakes just a second before take the corner, and your bike starts to move side by side but she runs directly to the edge and she tells you, now! open the throtle! and you exit the corner straight to take the next one. Are you and your bike, you are the abs, you are the traction control, you are the drive modes, you knows your motorcycle, and she knows you. Try a real motorcycle. (Sorry for my English, i'm from Spain)
I don't think I have ever suffered with mental health problems, but that might be because I've ridden since I was teenager. I do get a really good sense of contentment whenever I do ride, so I get what you're saying completely.
I own this sh..t. worst international service. bad bike. bad NEW bike. I own 2 versys. Small 650 and 1000 both 2014 year. no problem. but this piece of sh..t. .....4 warranty repairs and all without results
Done away with any wins protection at all??? Mate the RK Special has never come with a screen so they haven’t done away with anything. Do some research before creating a vid
I’m watching this again Angus. Seriously, very few motorcycle channels are even close to how well you do this. I hope you’re doing well, but if you’re not, get back doing videos! All the best…Ol’ Man 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much 🙌 That’s awesome to hear. The bike helps as well, I just love it! I’m good thanks, super busy working. But hope to back to YT one day. All the best 😎
I have aprilia sr gt 125cc scooter. Its a nice scooter but a bit to small and a bit underpower for my needs. This sims bigger, higher top speed and looks better option for me. The question I have is, how is accelaration? Is it noteble faster then 125cc 15hp maxiscooter?
Tenere probably has a lot less chance of morphing into limp mode that Ducati’s are so well known for .. when you really get the meaning of ‘middle of nowhere’ & I am in so much ferking shit.
Please define quality, mate! Premium "feel" does not equal quality. To me the Japanese understanding of quality is what makes me happy. That is premium from my point of view...especially when talking about bikes which you should take offroad. Reliability and simplicity rule! Yamaha all day!
Commenting very late here. I've had an XC for 3 years and still love it. I came from owning a great many sports bikes over the years and now in my mid fifties wanted something that didn't kill the back and wrists, but still had enough grin factor for the right roads. I've never noticed the narrower handle bars as an issue and indeed the geometry of the XC is more road orientated than the XE. The XE is a beautiful bike and to be honest I would have had one if it wasn't so bloody tall. I'm 5'10 and was on tippy toes, so imo to be comfortable on it, you really need something longer than my 31" legs. I also don't tour, but putting a fly screen on helped tremendously with motorway wind blast. There are times when I contemplate a change, but tbh there is nothing else I want, especially as most other ADV bikes are plain ugly in comparison.
The tank is too small for Aussie long-range touring. Needs a taller front sprocket for Aussie high-speed roads.I found the front windshield gave me head buffeting. Front light headlight projects the inside partitions onto the road resulting in lesser beam. The luggage rack is too small to attach a large top box.
I've got a 2022 model, this summer I went from Mallorca to Jhon O'groats, it performed fantastic 3L/100km. No engine problems, perfect for the UK secondary roads. I've got other bikes, thruxton1200R, Vespa Px, etc and this one is by far my favourite for travelling.
Adam Riemann …Horsepower is not King. Watch this video, obvious to the experienced off road rider but interesting never the less. Electronics and marshland followed by dust and rocks are not a good match. Riding a bike along a farm track is not riding “off road” in real terms, nor is it an adventure. Many of these so called adventure bikes should be re classified to “All terrain touring bikes.” An adventure to many is a trip to visit the mother in law when you’ve been caught out cheating!!!
It is possible to ride long distances without a windshield, and some people that don’t want a big ass fairing on their bike still have the need to carry things. Idk if this is the first motorcycle that this guy has ridden or what, but traffic and and a motorcycle with a large engine and no fairing seem to be overwhelming to our review rider here. 😮
Yeah, I’m digging the agricultural vibe of this bike. I haven’t had a bike for a while and am looking to get something soon. I started looking at the Tenere, then the Transalp, then the Taureg, Triumph, BMW and more recently the 800RE which led me this week to the 1050. I recon for the mountains here in northern Spain, the 1050 would be a great fit.
This is not a single guy's motorcycle or even a middle class bike. This is a "I'm a married professional, I don't need this much motorcycle but I can afford this, my wife isn't so fat she can't get on this thing, she tolerates my self-indulgence and sometimes rides with me, which is why she tolerates it" bike.
Just went for a ride after being depressed for a few days or so. All fine now. Amazing how that works. Thanks for your videos. Keep it up. V85TT is my outlet. 🎉
Hi Angus, the Road Kings are everywhere here in Southern California. I rented the old 88 cubic inch version many years ago. The weight was concerning at first. By the end of the day, I didn’t want to give it back. I wonder how the RK compares to the Speedmaster?
