Welcome Gluttons! Actor Ethan Suplee was an aspiring plus size model long before it became trendy and now sets out to examine our current obesity crisis. On American Glutton he’ll talk to everyone from experts to the average Joe, exploring all the diets he has been on over the last two decades, taking us on his journey from obese to svelte and back again, examining what worked and what made him gain everything back (plus 50 pounds). Sharing his ever-lasting search for the next quick fix, we’ll delve into the joys of suffering, relativism, dogged determination, and the proper way to braise a pork belly.

I thought Joel Fuhrman had a pretty sensible take on seed oils. Better than nothing (ie not too low fat diet), better than margarines and lard and sat fats, but worse than whole seeds and nuts and avocado.
Ethan, please seek out alternate experts on this issue and allow them to say their side. As qualified as one person may be there's a lot of dangerous misinformation on this topic and I think you owe your audience a balanced view. Let them debate!
Your not getting the views you deserve. Maybe rename the chanel to your name? People will find you easier. I think people dont recognise whi you are now. Anyway much love from adelaide Australia 🇦🇺
Please keep the podcast coming. I’ve been battling my unhealthy self for a few years. Finally found some motivation the past few months. I’ve dropped more than 30 pounds since July with nutrition, cardio and weight training. I couldn’t have done it without these episodes.
Neuroplasticity and development are hecks of things. The age when the addiction began and the trajectory of severity it took throughout brain formation might change what "maintenance" feels and looks like person to person.
This was an excellent conversation. I really enjoyed it and found the information very interesting. Any plans to have Dr. Mike Israetel on in the future? I know he’s a busy guy! It would be a really awesome collab though :)
I shot heroin and fentynal 16 years. Alcoholic from 20 to 37. Starting drinking andms smoking pot at 12 in 1996. Still have 100s of healrled holes from missed shots/skin popping shots/muscling shots. Now on a methadone taper
Losing weight isn't going to solve all your problems. However, it does act as a bit of a coupon. People need to get it through their heads that leaving this life piece by piece because of Type 2 Diabetes is one of the more horrific ways to go. After unf*@cking myself, figuring out where th emoments have been that have led to thinking and choices that brought me back to square1. A1C went from 13 to 5.4 with a combination of dietary changes, strength training and regular trips to my doc. One must find their own key to the weight loss lock. I don't know what it is for everyone but I know it exists. This podcast was instrumental in helping me adopt a helpful, sustaijnable mindset,. Thank you, Ethan.
I'm about to hit 200lbs lost. And the way I talk about my "old life" is almost like I witnessed it from someone else's perspective because that guy isn't me anymore. And saying that makes me happier than I've been in a long time.
The first time I gave weightloss an honest effort, I lost 30 lbs in a few months before gaining it back. Experiencing that success, however temporary it was, showed me that weight-loss is possible with patience. I'm now on honest attempt #3 and I'm down 65 lbs in 4.5 months.
I sure appreciate that you are bringing up this topic. I don’t like my loose skin but it is not nearly as bad as having to walk around with the 75 lbs that I lost.
I'm halfway through my weighltloss journey, 50lbs down and I'm pretty confident that I'll have loose skin. I've been overweight for all of my adolescent and adult life so loose skin is a small price to pay for feeling and looking better in clothes.
5 months in on the carnivore diet and have dropped 85 lbs. After starting listening to American Glutton, i now started lifting weights. It is a game changer for me.
You hit the nail on the head man. I've went from 290 and I'm at 240 now and still don't feel comfortable at the gym. Hit this plateau and still trying. Thanks for putting this out there for us.
Just a few minutes ago I was thinking of the show Boy Meets World and I asked myself "what happened to Frankie?" so I went on Google and I found an interview of you and here I am now on your channel. To see your life changing transformation and that you're healthy and alive is amazing. I'm happy for you brother. I gotta watch all your videos. I'm around 175 - 180 pounds which is not bad however I can admit for the past couple of years pre pandemic and during the pandemic I used food when I was feeling depressed or angry, and while I was eating 95% of healthy food and 5% non healthy, the tables turned and I gained a little weight in the stomach. I'm doing my best to make that change, and I gotta put in the work. Keep on motivating the people brother.
But then also you wouldn’t take pills without knowing the side effects from the chemicals right? Why eat foods with chemicals in the ingredients without reading the side effects but then think you have add or autism ?
It's not though. I've lost 100 pounds and it's never been that easy. "Eat less lose weight" never helped. Because you lose energy if your not properly supporting your body. We also eat for lots of different reasons there are 5 different kinds of hunger your body sends you signals for. And eating less doesn't mean eating better. I lost weight by adding more filling foods to my meals. I don't eat less. Actually, I eat more. I eat more fulfilling foods.
Loved this episode brother ! 36 year old worn out collegiate athlete , swat cop , with a billion injuries , and im feeling it already and im not even old . Great information .
Nice discussion, subbed. Rowing a marathon distance is impressive. I walked that distance a few days ago, not quickly at all but at 68 I'm quite pleased. My geezer advice would be for you to continue to work on mobility and balance and all that other stuff, because it will be more and more of a factor in the future.

I personally have quite a bit of empathy for the overweight people who make an effort to change. It's the people who blatantly refuse to believe that literally weighing 600 pounds is unhealthy and get mad when anyone tells them so.
