Ryan I find transcribing you jams at the beginning of your videos is a treasure trove. I'm working my way through the 12 bar Blues Survival Pack and has seriously tightened up my blues game and giving me all this mix and match ammunition mentioned here. Highly Recommended from this devotee.
Interesting that its a 1625 on the F of the chorus ... But really a sus on G for two bars.... harder to hear the bass in the non live version... one of my fav music youtube guys does this one Tony Winston... ooh Jr walker and the all stars nice version
I've got the lesson notated and available via PDF for those who support my Patreon page. If you dig this and want access to everything from these lessons, you can find it there. Cheers!
Discovered Billy Hadnott recently and sounds good... Played with T bone walker and had his own band with the little I looked at... had got to thinking of blues guys that like jazzy bass
Thank you thank you. Now this is a real lesson. You talk about what is going on, what key it’s in and some musical concepts that help in understanding the why, and not just the how. So much appreciate it. Watching just covers can help, but an actual lesson, which is kinda rare on RU-vid, is the best.
Hi Ryan. Great lesson as usual. Can you sometime go over how you're recording your bass. Are you miking your cabs or just directly into an interface with a plugin. That type of thing. Your bass sounds great! I can see it's a Lull which is cool. I have a Lull M4V that is super cool.
Thanks! I will do a video on that sometime but the short answer is that I’m using the head as a DI and going through an interface. No cab/mic involved for the bass tone. Hope that helps!
