I hope it does get cancelled, and the IP taken up by someone who actually read the books and and wants the series to actually reflect that. They took an amazing story and ruined it. The world is going down a dark path.
I hope it gets cancelled. Then someone else can buy the rights and do it right. Changes from the source material aside, it's just not a very well-done show
As a fan of the books I'll continue to watch, but the current timeline of a season every 2 years makes way too long of a timeline for keeping casual fans. And the show needs casual fans to tune in just as much as it needs hardcore book fans to keep it going. And as a general gripe, I just wish Josha Stradowski would actually learn how to use a sword. Rand was obsessed with sword training in the books, meanwhile in the show he barely pulls it from its sheath. I feel like certain writing choices were made because their actor isn't up to par when it comes to wielding a sword. With as much time as they have between seasons there is no excuse for a lack of sword training. Maybe make him take dance classes to learn how to be light on his feet along side the stage combat training.
Im just sad they took ALOT out of the books, and as a new Reader just finishing my first read it kind of sucks falling in love with characters that i'll never see portrayed. Like Gaul😢 That said i do believe that the show is good enough to continue through 8 seasons at least. There is certainly enough world building and character development that can still happen! This is just another turning of the wheel! when looking at it this way i love it even more. Lets think positive guys/gals😊
Fantastic video as always Bro. S3 can't come soon enough. My 2 cents is that we need more Book to Anime releases. Wheel Of Time would be amazing as an anime, the only issue is nothing animated is taken seriously but having these grand fantastical epics be told through anime opens so many doors to new audiences.
I will never understand why the arrogant show runner thought he knew better than the original author. Way too much was changed from the source material, which alienated a huge chunk of book readers; this is why the show will fail.
Season three needs to be amazing because truth be told, season 1 and 2 were not good. Not following the books. Adding things that are not in the books. Important characters not showing from the books and focusing on characters that did not need to be focused on. And let's not even talk about the CGI. Just let's not.
100% it will be cancelled. 8 episode every 2 years is not worth it, to long a wait for too little a reward, would have worked if it was 8 episodes every year. Game of thrones achieved more than that a decade ago so I don't know what's their excuse. Also Rafe and his team, even though they like the show they just don't have the writing talent to make this story good. The story is told poorly and the characters are not likeable or relatable at all. The only thing this show has going for it is the world building but it keeps being ruined by writing and story decisions. I just don't see this getting good views for season 3, I'm actually predicting less than season 2 to be honest. Even if if they make season 3 great the reputation is already soured and people won't come back, I think it's to late, sadly.
This show IS doomed. How could it possibly survive when they're mutilating the story AND doing it badly? It's bad fanfiction from someone who isn't actually a fan. It deserves to be canceled.
I just can't understand why they had to stray so very far from the books. I get it, stream line it for tv but when you're cutting sruff you shoudnnt be adding in new plot lines.

They should have cancelled after the first episode. It's crap. I only made it to episode 6 or so. Don't remember. I do remember almost kicking my TV to death in rage at how a bunch of idiots took a great story and characters and made them into a pile of excrement. Hope it does get cancelled and someone who gives a crap makes a good adaptation.
Yet regular TV shows are filming on schedule and meet the usual air dates. September to early October after the summer break. And mid January the after the Christmas season. And regular TV isn't 8-10 episodes. No, the streaming studios just don't know or have the administration structure to over see TV schedules.
man no disrespect to you, but after the way S2 ended im so far beyond done with their bs, they got a set of nards on them to make the changes they did, its disrespectful to the work, to mr jordans memory and to us, so again apologies to you man but...nope im gonna hard pass on them ruining any more of my childhood

For anyone genuinely PANICKING that the TV Show will be cancelled, you can take heart from a couple of things. If a decision had been made on that score, it would have been announced, in the same way The Peripheral was ended - unceremoniously. Whatever Amazon decide to do in the end, it is clear that they are keen to keep their options open for as long as possible. Let me be clear, I'm firmly on the side of cancelling. If Season 3 hadn't already been substantially filmed by the time Season 2 premiered, then I would have beaten the drums... LOUDLY... to put this abominable excrescence masquerading as a TV Show, out to pasture. NOW. If wishes were fishes... As Siuan Sanche might say, eh? So, moving out of the realm of wishful thinking, and focusing on reality, there are 2 key Ratings Measures that it seems to me will clearly define whether Season 4 will be considered viable by Amazon Executives. And let's forget 'driving subscriptions' altogether, OK? Unfortunately beyond its initial release of the first 3 Episodes of Season 1, the WoT TV Show hasn't moved the needle of that particular indicator at all. So. Ratings. The first Episode drop of Season One was definitely promising, verging on impressive even. If Season 3 starts with at least 75% of those initial numbers, then that would be a ✔️ in the Renewal Column, most definitely. If the dismal Season 2 Early Numbers are repeated though, then that would likely be ❌ in the Renewal Column. The key thing to note about Season 2 Ratings was their relative steadiness in the weeks following those rank numbers recorded for Episodes 1-3 in Week 1. That leads me to believe the decision makers at Amazon have actually genuinely understood that while the overall numbers were nothing better than 'mid' what WoT managed to consolidate in viewership from Episodes 4-8 in Weeks 2-6 was genuinely impressive. Getting such a low initial number for 3 New Episodes in Season 2 Week 1 would have been ringing Notre Dame sized bells in Amazon heads' Heads, no doubt, but the statistical steadiness of the Ratings in subsequent weeks, when only ONE EPISODE was being released, would have confirmed to the Amazon Decision Makers, while not being a needle pushing Show, the WoT attracts a steady base viewership that can be built on. And it is a viewership that defies emerging viewing patterns and trends for Streaming Video. ALL of these factors are favourable for the Show staying in production. However, the WoT Up presenter is absolutely right with his inside mail on this: Season 3 numbers... Especially Week 1 Season 3 numbers must be much higher than Season 2 for the Show to survive, because if they are not, then Amazon Execs will almost certainly decide that whatever POTENTIAL was indicated by the Season 2 steady ratings, it no longer exists. Because in raw terms, Season 2 Ratings repeated for Season 3 would tell Amazon Executives that while the base is loyal, there is NO LONGER ANY GROWTH POSSIBLE. Then it becomes a pure bang for buck proposition... And on that score, the WoT provides no bang for any bucks, let alone its substantial 2nd Tier Premium TV Production Privilege. It's definitely not Awards Bait. It's not even a 'critical darling' (notwithstanding pitifully desperate efforts to paint it thusly by various hacks self identifying as 'influencers') The one genuinely BIG STAR attached to the Project has - regardless of what storytelling possibilities and concepts anyone might choose to attach - left the Show (for the foreseeable future - IYKYK) So. Potential is no longer in play Product Quality has never really been in play. No Star Power left to Save the Day. The Wheel of Time TV Show has to HIT in Season 3, to stay. And it is entirely possible that it will. Countless Rank Productions that objectively more closely resemble something you step in, rather than eat up, have hit big in all forms of media. There's nothing really disqualifying WoT TV Show from joining them. However, if Amazon is to give the show EVERY CHANCE, they must do a much better job of promoting Season 3 return to streaming than they did with Season 2, where the evidence was overwhelming that a large portion of likely viewers didn't know when... OR EVEN IF... the TV Show was returning. While some people are decrying the long gap between Seasons Airdates, forgetting what came before isn't necessarily a bad thing with this particular TV Show. Even the Show itself has actively practiced forgetting previously published nonsense of its own making, so why should viewers quail at the prospect? In fact, coming to the table with Season 3 having forgotten - conveniently or otherwise - what malarkey has come before, might actually help it really break through amongst virgin viewers who at this stage are blissfully unaware of the dross they have dodged.
It's good that you're trying to be positive but this show is not about reaching broader audience. It's about promoting alternative lifestyles. The seasons cannot stand by themselfs. If you havn't read the books you won't have a clue on what's going on. The characters jump around to where they need to be and conversations between characters do not make much sense. And if you HAVE read the books, then you'll see that their not anywhere near following the books. They just use the same names and locations but the characters are not the same and events are changed to fit a narrative the directors have.
Will they? Probably not. Should they? That's a much better question. I think most would say yes. Come back with a story that's much less altered from the book. And for the love of the One Power, make it fucking animated.
Don't care, the show is horrible. Oooh the dragon might be a girl. Then what is the bloody point of the male half being tainted. If the dragon could have been a chick, the male half is redundant.
They really need to start accelerating their throughput capacity. It's ridiculous to take so long. Hopefully advancements in Gen-AI for this area will help quicken the pace ASAP. One year max between seasons.
My biggest issue is that while Wheel of Time is an ensemble cast Rand is still supposed to be the main character of the story, but they keep taking away his early big wins and giving them to other characters. And while I can understand combining characters what happens in later seasons when the individual characters are far away from each other. Gaul is far more important to Perrin’s storyline than he is to Rand’s story but they’re giving his early story to Aviendha so is she going to leave Rand to follow Perrin and just abandon her book arc of becoming a Wise One? On top of that how are they going to portray Rand’s later schizophrenia like personality break and on top of that book wise there’s only one or two characters that exceed Rand in raw power from early on in the book but the show is trying to give him the “Worf Effect” but they haven’t shown how powerful he is in the first place so it falls short.
It was never just about Rand, if you look at any article that shows how many page time the major characters get Rand is pretty much equal with Egwene and in fact most of the main characters get huge book time. Even the books themselves tell us at the end that it was never just about Rand.
@@cazgreene3055 That's so wrong it's absurd. The entire series was ONLY about Rand. All events revolve around him alone. The Dark One's end game was not to kill Rand (thus perpetuating the wheel of time, bringing an age of darkness but allowing the Dragon to be reborn later to have the same fight all over) but to corrupt him to the shadow and end the wheel of time. Sure, he couldn't have won alone, Jordan makes that ultra clear, but it wasn't like they were equals. Not nearly. If there was no Rand they would have lost. If Rand had been alone they would have lost. But it's always about Rand. That's the problem with this show. They don't seem to understand that everything revolves around Rand. EVERYTHING. Taking away what he does, changing the events that make him who he is, is quite simply blasphemy. To put it simply, Rand is the Dragon of Time, but the show treats him as just another character. An unloved and quite feeble character.
@@cazgreene3055 I don't think anyone is saying it's only about Rand, but he is the central figure that the entire story revolves around and he is clearly the most powerful person on the side of Light from the end of book 1 onwards. The early books focus HEAVY on Rand and it's really as we get further and further in that the others start to get equal time. Still the EF5 all need to get their shine. My problem is all the time and attention given to minor characters that don't need it. Moiraine, Liandrin, Lan, a random dead warder. Moiraine is the biggest culprit here. Just because they got a big name actor to play her, they have thrown out huge chunks of development for the other characters that matter in order to appease her, I guess. Those episodes focusing on Moiraine and Lan are just wasted screentime that don't advance the actual canon story in any way. All they do is stroke actor's egos I guess.
Lets face it Amazon, are closed mouth to the point of paranoia. It is not Johns ( pls forgive spelling if wrong) fault for the info If Amazon do not offer any news people further down the production food chain will give they'r 10 p worth however garbled.
Its one of my favorite book series, but imo this show is not good. If they cancel it now, maybe someone can try again for something faithful to the text sooner.

I think people always want to compare the show to the books and always have negative comments that may push people away, I love the show and the books. And it's hard to find creators like yourself who give good insights into both books and show.
Honestly, I don't understand all the negative comments here. I feel like some WoT fans lose no opportunity to complain about the show. Lauren made a great video about staying positive and optimistic, and some fans here use the comment section to be negative and voice their frustration with the TV show. . I for one love the TV show and I find a lot of the book series in it. Rafe Judkins has about eight hours per season to cover a book series that is almost 15,000 pages long. It's impossible to even come close to covering the storylines and characters. That's why the show needed to take a very different approach, and I think it's a great one. In my opinion a lot of things are even better than in the books. I understand and accept that many fans don't like the TV series, but the comment section of a video that aims at people who love the TV show and want it to continue might not be the best place for complains.Thank you for your amazing video, Lauren! I agree. I gave up on the books as a teenager-got burned out, and was unsure if the series would ever be completed-and I have loved the show so much (warts and all) that it's brought me back to the books, and I've passed the point I originally gave up on the series. I know others who had never read the books and have now made their way through all 14 after falling in love with the world Robert Jordan created and Rafe & co brought to life.
People who don't like the show are welcome to share their opinions here in a kind way. The "trolls" I'm referring to are the ones who come here only to hate the show and to be straight up rude or mean, or in very rare instances, hateful or bigoted. Most "trolls" have absolutely nothing to say about my actual video and add nothing of value to the conversation. I can't tell you how many times I get comments on my channel from people who not only don't watch the videos, but also don't seem to even understand the books or the show on a basic level. I'm tired of it. People seem to think that if I don't allow certain types of comments that I'm censoring or one-sided or even un-American because apparently I don't love "freedom of speech" lol. They fail to recognize that this is not a democracy; it's my personal channel and I have the right to delete or block users for being bigoted, hateful, and mean as I seee fit. If you make a RU-vid channel and pour as much time and effort into your videos as I do, you're welcome to let people say whatever they want, but i think you'd understand how frustrating it is and you'd realize I'm right for calling some people "Trollocs." And by the way, I rarely delete or block people. Usually I just downvote and move on.
I hope it gets cancelled as soon as possible. Literally the worst adaptation I have ever seen. Even garbage adaptations like Rings of Power, The Witcher, House of the Dragon season 2 ... are better than this. I can't understand why anyone would force themselves to like this insult to the lifework of one of their beloved authors from a multi billion dollar company that only cares about more money and has absolutely zero respect for the source material and sadly you guys who promote it as well.
I am also getting more and more frustrated with those two year gaps. I just saw the Rings of Power trailer und already thought, damn, need to sit through a video first to catch up on what happened in S1. This is stupid. I also do not agree with checking numbers in the first few days/week of a new show airing or how many subscriptions are taken out. This can work for a show that drops all episodes at once, but nowadays having multiple streaming services that cost money, I try to wait a few weeks so I don't have to subscribe for longer than 1 month and can watch all episodes in that timeframe. I would assume in the current financial climate, this is quite common. I have even seen people mention they cycle trough the different services and only have one active at a time, watch everything they need on there, then go on to the next. So just in this sense, I dont think any of those numbers are a good way for Amazon to check. But I guess they have to start with some numbers somewhere.

This entire project has been a disaster from the very beginning. From the selection of Rafe, a far-left lunatic, as the one in charge, to the gratuitous and completely unnecessary diversity in the original cast, to the abandonment of the original plot, etc... it's been a spit in the face to any true fan of the series. I watched the first season with hopeful optimism which quickly faded as they miscast and mishandled character after character, completely f*cked up the pacing of the story and made absurd changes to the story that did nothing but ruin the flavour of the story. By the end of the first season, I was hate-watching it just to criticize everything the ignorant production team got wrong. F*ck this show and everyone involved in disrespecting Robert Jordan's life work.
