I have a 14 year old HUGE Carrier 3 ton heat pump, mine has a circuit board also, it is the defrost board. I just bought a soft start , generator and wired in a 50 amp genny plug to main house panel , all legal with breaker interlock kit. Working on the soft start install, been scratching my head , but your video helps out. The compressor run wire is yellow also on mine. I am glad the detailed wire schematic is still intact inside my unit. Never had an OEM hard start kit and Start thermistor installed. Guess they were optional when unit was installed. Micro Air website with Carrier install instructions helped also. I bought another brand soft start as I needed a 32 amp model. Same principal and hook up, no bluetooth . I have room to stick soft start inside unit, actually room for 2 ...lol.. I guess they stick defrost boards in non heat pump Carrier models for the other features ... Your circuit board comes up as a defrost board by model number. Again thank you for sharing !😀

Hello !!! I bought an otofix d1 lite but when I connect it to the car the service functions are not available, is it not compatible with the car? BMW x6 3.0 d 2009
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 3 дня назад
I have no way of answering this question with 100% certainty, unfortunately. I do not have a 2009 MBW to plug in and test for myself. However, if this is true, and it does not work on 2009 BMWs, then I'm sure many others would have already reported this situation.... And I have NOT heard of the OTOFIX/Autel line of tools NOT working on any BMW. I suspect you either have a problem with the OBD2 DLC port in your vehicle, the wiring going to it, or the vehicles computer itself is having problems. What was the original problem with the vehicle in the first place that led you to buy a scan tool? I'm just trying to figure out if you are having problems with the computer in the vehicle. Not being able to "communicate" with a vehicle via a scan tool BECAUSE the computer in the vehicle is failing is actually fairly common. And lastly, does the scan tool work on any other vehicle that you plug into? If so, then it's very possible the BMW computer is the problem. And lastly, any new scan tool CAN be defective (as with any other brand new piece of electronics) If the tool doesn't work on any other vehicle, then you can just simply return it back to Amazon for a refund. Sorry for your trouble. Thanks for the question.

Instead of the hose with a cap that provides routing and storage issues, I took a different approach. I treaded a 1/4 turn valve into the engine with a barbed hose coupler on the other side. When oil change time rolls around, I push a hose onto the barb fitting, set the other end in a catch tray, and turn the valve. No oil in the case or on me.

@SlipFitGarage 5 дней назад
Yeah, those have been around for a long time. I had one of those on my pickup truck in the 1990's. I decided to use the hose on this generator because the location of the drain port is not the easiest to get at.... especially with larger hands. The hose is easier to grab, and use..... for me, anyway. Thanks for the comment.

How do u shut the unit off, and how do you access the ABS…?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 5 дней назад
Press and hold the power button down.... a few seconds later a message will pop up on the screen asking if you want to "power off" or "put to sleep". It shuts off just like any other android device. Accessing different modules can be different on every year/make/model but once you get to the screen that lists every individual module in the vehicle, you simply select the "abs module". Thanks for the question.

No, I am not teaching thieves.... thieves already know how to break into cars. This tool unlocks the doors, it does not start the engine. Just because you're not a tool buyer doesn't mean Auto mechanics, auto auction employees, lock smiths, roadside assistance guys, tow truck drivers, etc, etc don't buy tools..... And all those people watch youtube, too. Not just you. Thieves don't care if they damage a car, they break windows. If i made a video about a hammer, would you claim I'm teaching thieves? lol

This is great! Thanks! I never thought of making a load center portable like this. The inclusion of the meter is very helpful for monitoring what the system is doing. The only concern I have, and this might not apply to how you are using it, is that your ground neutral bonding plug was made from a 15 amp plug and, if used, will be plugged into a 15 ? 20 amp receptacle. In the event of your 30 amp circuit having an overload or short, the bonding plug / receptacle / wiring may burn up before the 30 amp internal breaker trips. However, the 20 amp circuit that is at fault will break at 20 amps, so that will make it not quite so dangerous.
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 9 дней назад
It's common to have an undersized ground conductor. For example, I have a 50 amp sub panel in my garage that is fed from the main panel in my house. The sub panel is fed with 6 gauge wire for both hots and the neutral. The ground conductor is 10 gauge. This meets the national electric code in my area. The ground conductor only sees a load long enough for a breaker to trip, which is almost instant when a fault happens. This is not nearly log enough to burn up the undersized ground conductor. You need to understand that wire size is rated for continuous load, it does NOT mean that smaller wires cannot handle a higher load, it just means smaller wires cannot handle a larger load for extended periods of time. For example, 12 gauge copper wire is rated for 20 amps..... that does NOT mean it will "burn up" at the very instant it sees 21 amps. That 12 gauge copper wire can probably handle 80 - 100 amps, for probably 45-60 seconds before it actually "burns". BUT in this application, the breaker will have already tripped LONG before the wire ever sees that amount of load, for any length of time. There are videos on youtube where people purposely overload wires to see just how much load they can actually handle before getting hot enough to cause a fire. You would be VERY surprised how long, and how much over current it takes to overload any specific gauge of wire to the point of it "burning up". I have no concern about MY bonding plug being undersized. Commercially produced bonding plugs are probably made with even smaller conductors inside. I also have no concerns about this device that I made for myself. I would be far more concerned about the generator coming from the factory WITHOUT a GFI outlet, or ANY ground fault protection, at all. And lastly, just as a disclaimer..... This video shows a solution that I made for myself, to solve a problem that is unique to MY situation. If someone else decided to build something similar for themself, they're on their own. This video is NOT a step-by-step "how-to". It's simply a video to show a device that I made for myself. Thanks for the comment.

I'm confused by what you say at 1:15. You're talking about tube size and saying it's inch and a half O.D. but then you show a picture of inch and a quarter couplers. This doesn't make sense to me.
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 9 дней назад
The tubing ACTUALLY measures 1.5 inch..... But the electrical couplers are sized differently. They don't use the ACTUAL size on the label. The 1 1/4 inch electrical couplers fit perfectly on tubing that ACTUALLY measures 1 1/2 inches. Just like the 1 1/4" EMT electrical conduit actually measures 1 1/2". It's confusing, I know.... and I agree.

I've used those oil drain hoses on other small engine projects and they work great. But I would double check your old levels sense you laid the hose down along both, below the engine or even below the fill after you added oil, as the oil will fill the hose and lower the oil levels in the engine.
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 12 дней назад
Probably true.... but by how much? The total "area" of the inside of the hose is probably about 4 table spoons worth of oil. That amount of oil missing from the crankcase is probably not even measurable on the dipstick.... and it certainly is NOT going to affect longevity of the engine. The generator in this video has been running great since this video was recorded almost two years ago. Thanks for the comment.

Hi being that my phone replaced all computers/ laptops can the D7 upgrades be done via a phone since there is no wireless capability? The D7 DOES have WiFi capabilities. So does the newer D7S and the D7W. They all have wifi capabilities. If your cell phone has "hot spot" capability where it can share it's wireless connection via WIFI with other wireless devices, then yes... you can update the D7 over your cell phone's network. The D7 is Android based.... You would simply add the D7 to any WiFi network like you would with any other Android device, or any WiFi laptop, or any WiFi iPad, or WiFi desktop computer, etc. etc. Thanks for the question.

How's this holding up?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 18 дней назад
Hi, it held up very well through the entire winter and spring, and now into summer. The canvas on my portable garage is still in good condition but I can tell that some of the "shine" has gone away so that proves to me UV light does slowly deteriorate the canvas cover. As others have mentioned, a secondary sacrificial tarp stretched over the canvas that comes with the portable garage would greatly help extend the life of the original cover. Anything to prevent strong UV light from the sun shining on the canvas cover will lengthen it's life. Mine is still good, but in another year or so, it would probably be time for another new cover. With all the strength improvements that I have made, it hasn't moved one bit. It is rock solid and it has survived some fairly strong wind storms . We had a very light winter this past year, but I have no doubt that it would survive one of our "normal" winters, too. My need for this portable garage has now ended, and I plan to take it down sometime in the next month or so. But I will keep it in storage and I will gladly use it again, if ever needed. No regrets here....

@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 19 дней назад
Well, this thing isn't really designed or advertised to lower the "running" amps. It's specifically designed to lower the "starting" amps. So, if your running amps went down from 32 to 13 then something else is going on. Is it possible that you got a bad reading somewhere along the way? That's what I suspect happened. Either way, the finished results speak for themselves! Yes, these really do work.

I bought the artidiag900 bt and I’m very confused how I can do Odometer correction on vehicles. I have tried older Jeep, older Toyota and new dodge since nothing is connecting . I have the auto auth account and still no way to connect to the POS Odo correction
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 23 дня назад
Honestly, in my opinion, "odometer correction" should not be included in any scan tool. The need to HONESTLY "correct" the mileage happens very rarely. And it's FAR to easy for used car scammers to lower the mileage to increase a used car's value. Not to mention, it's very illegal. The last time I needed to genuinely change the mileage on an odometer was in 1994 on a Ford F350. Nowadays you can usually get your existing gauge cluster repaired and sent back to you within a few days which makes "correction" irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you don't have a genuine reason for needing "odometer correction". However, it's strange to me that questions about "odometer correction" are some of THE MOST common questions I get in all of my scan tool videos. To directly and honestly answer your question.... I have no idea how to do it. I've never needed it, so I've never looked for it. It's probably under the "instrument cluster" module, then it's probably an "actuation test" or "special function". But please keep in mind, it CAN probably be found in different locations depending upon which year/make/model that you're plugged into. And lastly, it depends if the vehicle manufacturer has programmed the ability to let the mileage be changed by a scan tool into the vehicle's computer software to begin with. If the computer in the car doesn't have that ability programmed into it, then no scan tool on earth can perform that function..... which is the same for any other feature or function. Scan tools only send commands to the vehicle's computer, it's the computer that is actually performing these commands. Thanks for the question.

Would you say it's any good at resetting adblue systems and resetting NOx sensors ?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
I rarely work on diesel trucks but I can tell you this..... If the truck manufacturer has included the ability for a scan tool to reset such settings in the vehicle's computer, then this scan tool should be able to command those setting/resets/etc... No scan tool is magic. Scan tools aren't actually "doing" anything. Scan tools simply allow the human user to send command for features/functions/resets that are already programmed into the vehicles computer. For example: If you looking to reset "X" sensor, but the manufacturer did NOT include that ability in the factory software, then no scan tool on earth will be able to command that particular reset. A scan tool can not command something that does not exist in the vehicles software. So, again.... if the setting and resets are available on the specific vehicle that you have in mind, then yes, this scan tool "SHOULD" be able to do those things. This is a full bidirectional scan tool. Any true "full bidirectional" scan tool should be able to command any pre-programmed feature (from the factory) on just about any modern vehicle. I hope my answer makes sense. Sometimes I'm not the greatest at explaining things with typed words. Thanks for the question.

@SlipFitGarage okay thank you. Just asking because I've worked with alot of bosch and snap on computers and I've had a few of each fail to reset adblue counters and other such functions before. If you had to rate it out of 10 would you say it's a decent scanner ?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
@@ItsJustLuke656 Well, no scan tool brand is perfect..... not only does the vehicle need to have the specific capability that you're looking for, but it ALSO has to be programmed into the scan tool software..... and some features and functions can get overlooked and not included on some scan tools. This can happen with ANY brand of tool, while working on any brand of vehicle. The only way I could verify that the specific function that you are looking for would be for me to plug into the exact same make/model that you're asking about and verify that function with own eyes..... and unfortunately I do not have any diesel trucks available for me to plug into. Yes, this is a very decent tool. A LOT of guys swear by the Launch line of scan tools. I have used the one in this video on a few cars and I have been very impressed with it. I Am personally an Autel guy, but that is only because I am most familiar with them.... not because they are any better than any other brand. The Launch X431 series of tools in one of the best selling scan tool in the world as far as I know. They are great scan tools. @SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
What exactly are you looking for a scan tool to "do" on your vehicle? What is this tool NOT doing that you think it should be doing? This scan tool does show airbag fault codes. The airbag system in most vehicles operates a bit differently than most other vehicle systems. In my experience, the airbag system does a system check with every ignition key cycle. If there is a fault it turns the airbag light on during every key cycle. Unlike the check engine light that once it has been set, it will stay on regardless if the fault is present every time the key is turned on.... until someone with a scan tool turns it off. And because the airbag system does a system check at every key cycle, once a fault has been physically repaired (replaced sensor, fixed broken wire, etc) then when the key is turned on the next time, the system check will see that it has been fix and the light will not turn on. So, if you're looking to turn off an airbag light, the only way to do so, is to fix the actual fault that is causing the light in the first place. Thanks for the comment.

@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
@@user-vk6xg9me1p If you replaced all the airbags and they are still showing as deployed, usually that means you need a new airbag control module. I am NOT an airbag expert. That is body shop work, and I'm not in the body shop business..... but in my experience, airbags that have been deployed because of an accident require a new module. It knows there has been an accident and it is NOT resetable via a basic scan tool. Of course this can vary depending upon which make/model of vehicle we're talking about but simply replacing airbags is only part of the process after an crash. I suspect you need a new air bag module.... this is NOT the fault of the D1 Lite. You could return the D1 Lite back to Amazon and then buy the most expensive scan tool on their entire website and I suspect you still wouldn't be able to reset the airbag module. If resetting the airbag module after a crash is not programmed into the vehicle's software from the factory, then NO scan tool on earth will be able to reset that module. You can't command something that doesn't exist.... Also, if this OTOFIX D1 Lite is causing weird lights to flash then either there is something still wrong with your vehicle, or you have a defective scan tool. (which is very possible) But I can assure you with 100% certainty that this is not how the D1 Lite "normally" works. If this WAS normal, we would have thousands of people complaining about it and so far, you're the only one who has mentioned this problem under any of my OTOFIX videos. This tool works perfectly on my 1998 C5 Corvette. I understand you are frustrated, I would be too.... But you can simply send your defective product back to Amazon for an exchange or a refund. (if that is where you bought it) Sorry for your trouble

Great video, I like the way you explained the unit. honest & easy to follow. I want to use it to help shop for use car for my son. Do you know if it can show the actual mileage stored in the computer ? That way we can see if the mileage is legit? I went to the web site down loaded manual but could not find any info on it .thanks in advance take care.

It's been a while since I've used this scan tool (I have many others) but it SHOULD be able to help you with that. Of course it is 100% dependent upon the vehicle that you're currently plugged into at any given time. You may find mileage on one car, but not find it on another. This is true with every feature/function on every scan tool, not just this tool. I hope this helps. Thanks for the question.

Hi. I made a video about that power distribution box. That video can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6DDUSwBhAM4.html I have included a link to that power meter in that video description.... and in the first pinned comment. So, check out that video and then you'll find the direct link. Thank you.

I would imagine that if you used an extension cable to get the VCI up on the dash or hang it over the visor or something that you get an even stronger WiFi connection. Not like you need it though.😉

Yeah, probably.... but like you said, it's not like I need even more distance. lol. Thanks for the comment!

The car care nut said the D7 battery does not last very long
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
The original D7 is a corded tool..... It's getting charged anytime it's plugged into a vehicle diagnostic port. The only time the battery is relevant is maybe when you're downloading and installing large software updates.... And if that's a problem, just plug the charge cord into the tool while it's updating. If it was a cordless tool, battery capacity might be an issue... but it's corded. Just my $0.02.....

I have been looking for the most complete autel for my needs. I see that this one has the TPMS capability. Is it able to reset and reposition the sensors in vehicles with it?

We need a 6 year update!
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
Here's the six year update..... The information in this video is still accurate as far as bleeding brakes in a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. The scan tool used in this video is still manufactured and sold..... but unlike before this video, ABS brake bleeding is in the Amazon listing in bold letters, not fine print at the bottom of the description. Also, since this video has been made, there have been MANY improvements in the scan tool world. There are a bunch of options for ABS brake bleeding in the same price range of the tool in this video. One of those options is the XTOOL A-30M. In fact, I did a video about it and it can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rpwvihvKbx8.html The A-30M would be my choice today if i was looking to simply bleed my ABS brake module. You supply your own smart phone or Tablet. The device shown in my video is a Samsung Tab S6 Ultra. You can use a much cheaper tablet if you would like. The XTOOL offers a LOT more features and functions over the Autel MaxiCheck for roughly the same price. (the Autel goes up/down in price on any given day so it's hard to say exactly)

Did you bleed the brakes without cracking the bleeder scews?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Месяц назад
No, traditional bleeding is still required. This video is probably 6 years old at this point, and I haven't listened to it in many years, but I'm pretty sure I explained all of this in the video if you listen long enough. Also, I have specifically answered this type of question in fine detail in this comment section probably 100 times since the video was made. Scroll around and see my other replies for more information. Thanks for the question.
