Overall, neat video, you've earned a subscriber! If you want a tad newer system id recommend looking at, the latitude e5430 has been quite nice system for me as someone who got one for free and repaired it. Beautiful system to work on, and does ubuntu 24.04 like a champ!
The build quality of these laptops are unmatched. I have one with i7 and nvdia chips. Upgraded to a cheap 120 gb ssd switched cd rom for hdd caddy and add 2tb hdd.ram to 8gb .and it Still works fine😅
You might consider trying the legacy (32 bit) version of Bodhi Linux. I bought an Eee 900A netbook from Best Buy, with 2 GB of RAM and an Atom CPU. It came with Xandros Linux. It had a union file system--easy to go back to original state, but the first update totally filled the tiny SSD. For a while I went with what was then called Easy Peasey Linux, but settled on Bodhi and enjoyed it greatly. Its Moksha windowing environment is a fork of Enlightenment 17.
i love the old dvd player sounds takes me back to simpler times looks like a real gem over all i used have a similar labtop probably still do somewhere this video makes me want to hunt one down rather i buy another one or find my old one
wow another old Toshiba Unit - very similar to like mine -a 12 volt unit . I've been trying to find a 32 bit distro of Linux to put on it But its becoming harder and harder to find older versions of Ubuntu
Hey! Thanks for your great input of linux distro's on that I can see how they run on old hardware. I can now get my old Toshiba back in service. Mint is not bad but it's a bit sluggish on hardware from 2010. Great demo! thankyou...
I still have my Product(RED) version with a blu-ray reader/writer and I just reinstalled windows vista to it. Although I might install a linux distro to it.
I have a old Dell Inspiron 1440 <Bought it new in 2009 i think> with a Pentium Dual Core T4400 2.2 Ghz and 4 GB of 800 mhz DDR2, Tossed Bodhi linux on it, and it's pretty snappy with it <i just can't bring myself to get rid of the old girl>
I downloaded the first version on day one and have found solutions for all it's problems. I am happy with Mint and wish everyone supports it. Mint 22 is bug free as you can get. I'm loving it!
Mint 22 with mate deskto is my go to disprove for old or weak pc, or for people who want to try something else then win or Mac. No complain so far from my friends a,d family ! Awesome OS!
I remember spending ages trying to get my usb modem to work on Ubuntu, and there were often other hardware problems. To be honest, the improvement in drivers has been so useful for Linux popularity.
Fun Fact: the K in K desktop Environment originally stood for Kool, but people thought it was kringe so they shortened it to K the first KDE mascott's name was Kandalf, he is a wizard that helps you configure your system through wizards.
Kandalf reminded me a lot of 90s Windows mascots, and the office assistants in Office 98. Early Konqi reminds me of the assistants / mascots in Office XP, though Konqi and Katie our my favourite Linux mascots, theyre so cute :)
