My name is Rem Thompson and I love to make things. Since I was a kid, my grandpa taught be the spirit of DIY and how to build, break, and make all around the house. As I grew up I developed my own passion for technology. Naturally my love of technology, and the maker spirit I learned from my grandpa were on a collision course, and I fell MADLY in love wit the world of 3D printing, laser cutting, cnc machines, as well as other traditional manufacturing practices. My mission is to share the love of making things on your own with the world!
My husband and I just bought the P1S, so I was looking for some beginner guidance and came across this. I am someone who feels a lot of guilt when spending money but also I believe in paying a little more to make sure I get the best product for me. This makes me feel so much better about our choice to wait and save for this one rather than just buying a $150 one on Amazon. I hope to print a lot of “nerdy” trinkets so seeing yours makes me so happy!
colors look nice but 2 issues, the point of PET-G is higher temp with out going to ABS and the other is the high price, I'd pay 20-25 for exotic colors but 30+ is just too high.
Recycled materials are weaker and not as good as virgin materials. Recycling plastic is only really valid for certain applications like drink bottles etc. I dont think making filament out of recycled filaments is a good use of the material.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and leave a comment. I see where you're coming from, but if it is a marginal difference, are you really going to feel that difference in strength? A TON of 3D print files are way over engineered for what they are, including my own designs. A few % difference in strength is worth the trade off for unique colors and supporting a small business where I can.
@@remthompson I definitely see a difference but then again the things I print are mechanical in nature not things like flexi toys etc. So for pure non functional items I guess its worth it, but it is a bit of a premium. Im all for recycling but I just think theres a better use for these materials than 3d printer filament.
@@Festivejelly without quantifying the actual difference it’s hard to say if it’s a fair trade, especially if you need a specific color for a specific job
I don’t get why people think $30 rolls of petg are a good or at all reasonable price, doesn’t matter on the color imo the price completely negates that benefit of looking neat.
I get at least 3x the filament compared to this stuff for the same price of one and get the exact same print quality out of my A1 mini as I do from Bambu filament or any other higher quality filament, the only reason anyone would ever want or need to spend $30+ on a 1kg roll of petg is for petg-cf and you're gonna be using that for something obviously intending to hold heavy loads or bearing stress, anything else is quite literally pointless to burn your money on. now a colorful purple transparent petg-cf for $35 that's a steal but without the cf I refuse to believe that is "reasonable".
Huge shoutout to the amazing GreenGate 3D folks for taking time of selling out their booth at MRRF to talk with us. Great people with an awesome mission.
Hey man you should do a video on upgrading the original hotend from the sv06 to the sv06+ hotend, ive heard they are swappable but theres no video about it anywhere online so it might be an interesting idea for a video👍
thanks for the video but I have a problem with Creality. They advertised the K1C as having an all metal extruder but a few youtube reviewers opened it up and found it was plastic. Eventually after enough reviewers complained Creality that they changed their advertising on their website from "all metal extruder" to "clog free extruder" (still have animated graphic showing what looks like metal gears). However on Amazon the Creality K1C is still adversized in picture and text that its still an "all metal extruder". Creality didn't send an email to all the people that bought the machine and the false advertising of it having an all metal extruder and telling them it wasn't the case. Not a good way to show integrity.
1. Find a 3D sketch for a tool that keeps your trail hand bent until impact. Super expensive to buy. 2. one of thoose alingments aids you put on the end of your club to keep your lead hand straight in the backswing.
Other than spraying the clear coat too close to the coasters, and questionable sanding technique, I thought the video/demo was good. Agree 100% with you on the intellectual property issue especially on Etsy - it's ridiculous how much illegal stuff is on there. And to those thinking if they buy SVG art of trademarked characters or logos, that it then becomes legal to make products with that artwork - NO - IT IS STILL ILLEGAL!
I would like to buy a P1S combo but i need more info please. When you order it with the AMS does it come with 4 colors? Do you choose your colors? Do they work best in a particular order like, left to right: Red, white, blue, green? or right to left Green, blue, white, red? Does it come with a PEI plate? Or just order another one? Does it come with a Bambu hot-end or just buy an extra one? Love your video.
You do get some filament with it if you buy the combo. Not certain of colors, but you don't get 4. One cool thing you get is support material. No choice of included colors. If you go to the product listing page on their site, they show you a detailed list of what's in the box. I think the current plate they're shipping with is the PEI plate. Best to reach out to their support for specifics if you're curious. It doesn't matter in which slot you put which color. There's a great spares kit included.
He loves it all! He actually hires out my services all the time. He’s in sales has me make marketing materials for him, like fidget toys and etched cups/mugs. It’s really leveled up a lot of what we can make. I’m hoping to be able to add a decent sized cnc router, and a milo 1.5 soon. He has a background in machining, so he genuinely enjoys seeing the new tech. Also I’m such a laser rookie still. Thanks for the tips!
Hey Mikey! Glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll be honest I’m not a great resource for slicer stuff I don’t know how to do a lot of it myself!! But we will see what we can make happen
biggest mistakes i made starting out were, 1. cheap filaments (i only buy 1kg rolls now), 2. cleaning the bed the right way, 3. manually level the bed once a month or 2, ABL is nice but not bullet proof, 4. learning the slicer program (i cant stress this enough), and 5. taking extra time during the setup process - this will save you hours and days of trouble shooting
probably the most honest, into detail review ive seen. i would love to see this guy have his own channel along with yours. thinks to this i will be purchasing the printer!
Hey thank you for taking the time to watch the video. I genuinely associate it. I’m still learning a lot about camera presence in addition to every other aspect of video creation/presentation. Feedback helps us get better. Thank you :)
Good tip with the tightening of all screws! Once I had a badly clogged nozzle - or so I thought. Prints would look like a mess, strangely on repeating patches. Disassembled & cleaned hotend multiple times, cleaned my Bondtech CHT nozzle multiple times (what a nightmare), replaced bowden tube etc. etc. After there was nothing left that could cause it - and the problem still peristed - it made "click" for me. Checked the extruder and what do you know - the setscrew of the driving extruder gear was loose.

I wanted this machine until I noticed the protective uv cover is fixed you can not remove it. You need a hight or focal key that will easily be lost ... f that
My son and I just got our first printer which is the p1s. It’s prints the files that are built in but I can’t for the life of me get it to connect to Bambu handy with my phone. Any help is appreciated. My WiFi does show up on the screen but it won’t fully bind.
@@remthompson I believe that it’s 2.4, I can get the WiFi name and ip to pop up on the machine but the app won’t bind. I have xfinity WiFi. I tried to find the option to turn off ap isolation but it doesn’t seem to want to let me.
So I agree to an extent. However when you look at the situation, bambu puts all of their engineering into a small number of machines compared to creality. Apple puts their phone development into one phone with several sizes essentially compared to Samsung. More engineering one a smaller number of items tends to lead to a higher quality released product. Creality tends to push several versions of the same machines. 3 ender 3s released at once was quite a lot
@@remthompson Apple hardware once upon a time was works of art. Now the hardware is nothing special at all and sometimes even sub par. Apple has the eco system, that's what makes Apple 'better' than say Samsung. It's certainly not the hardware. I think the same can be said about printers, often really good designs are sabotaged by bad software and eco systems. Bambu makes really good hardware and they did a good job leveraging existing software to make a good eco system. Eventually more and more companies will make as good or better printers, it'll be about the eco system, support and brand loyalty. People do tend to feel a product is better IF they paid a premium for that product.
