Beginning is amazing, then from V to XII it slows down a little and then XIIa and b and XIV (especially the fugue) are some of the best piece ever composed by Bach. After it's underwhelming (tho still incredibly good because it's Bach after all.)

Уже писал на разных форумах, что запал в душу рассказ одного одессита, впоследствии преподавателя Киевской консерватории. Дирижер Самуил Александрович Столлерман получил должность в Одесском оперном театре и устроил первую «сидячую» репетицию с певцами: опера «Евгений Онегин». Оркестр не привлекали, аккомпанировал молодой пианист, работавший здесь корепетитором (так он назвал свою должность в одном рассказе). После репетиции Столлерман обратился к участникам с такой речью (точно процитировать не могу, но смысл передаю правильно): «Спасибо! Наверное, это было хорошо, но, извините, я вас не слушал… Я слушал вашего концертмейстера!» Не сомневаюсь, что об этом концертмейстере знала музыкальная общественность Одессы. Поэтому аншлаг был закономерным.
