Hi there! Welcome to CygnusMC, im Lunar! And i think ur awesome for checking me out! If u like a more technicall in-depth style video's about minecrafts past, current situation and future, ur in the right spot!
I was involved in the Hosting scene sindce 2011, working with Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, Sponge and a whole bunch of other API's and plugins! So i was there when every event happened. As Minecraft has Evolved so much over the last few years, i think its important that someone writes/vlogs this down
So thats the point of this channel, feel free to stick around for some interesting subcultural history lessons Cheers
This game is great. I have been playing it for many years, absolutely worth it if you like base building game. If shooter game or RTS games is the only thing you care about, it's probably not what you are looking for though. But defiantly worth to try out.
Nice Criticism: Please please please, remove, from all future videos any moments where you interrupt your self; is really annoying. (Examples " 6:02 " and " 7:20 " ) Never again.
I usually install optifine bc some mods need it to work. I'm on 1.12.2 idk if optifine was better then but some mods (like enhanced visuals) requires optifine. But tbh in recent times i noticed a significant performance decrease, sometimes lingering at about 10-20fps (On my low-end laptop)
I stopped using Optifine after seeing it cause so many game-breaking bugs between vanilla and mods and finding mods that do all of Optifines features such as custom entity models, textures, items, colours, shaders, and better performance such as Sodium, Iris, and Polytone. Some of Optifine's crashes are The Alex's Mobs Comb Jelly causing a crash by existing with Opitifine installed, Opening the Bestiary in Alex's Mobs causes a crash with Optifine installed, Enhanced Celestials crashing upon startup with Opitfine, and opening a Buried Treasure Map causes a crash and forever locks the player out of their world,
Off topic from iris Distant Horizons is so buggy It worked like a dream, now it has dark patches after I updated a whole bunch of my mods in a new copy profile in Modirinth And it doesn’t complete the LODS now since my new cobblemon mod profile was synced to my original one Problems seem to go away with every patch to Distant Horizons gets released
i have sues gfme hrr 2.1.i have no choice but to use optifine to run that. i dont get optifine or iris to get shaders. its the other way around, maybe one day iris will be as good. i just dont want to spend hours combining iris and a bunch of other mods just to have the same results with the better grass, the zoom, further render distance, better ui, just for examples. it breaks with my texture pack and shaders i use for some blocks. and get this i already did all that to make it parody with optifine and i get the same fps... i felt like all i did was waste my time, no extra fps, have to get lat least 5 or more mods just to be the same and even after fixing all that it still has broken issues with my shader. honestly so annoying idk why i even tried. oh ya everyone saying its so great, but its not good for the best setup. the way i see it rn optifine is the max graphics and iris is max optimization at the loss of quality. its quality or fps. im not a developer and most of us arent and dont care we just want thing to work. smooth brain learn to run best graphics then people confuse him with fabric and optifine when they still feel like a beta. goes back to what works and gives up on new thing thats supposed to be better.
I just want to say that I really appreciate all the content you're making about the Minecraft modding scene. I am so mesmerized by it that I really want to get into the modding scene myself, despite all the drama!
oh thank god my eyes aren't bleeding im so glad shaders exist thanks for informing me my good buddy pal buddy chum pal twink buddy pal rock boy buddy lunar!
I would like to see a similar high-quality video about shaders in VulkanMod. Collateral is working on brand a new system that will replace the OptiFine's legacy (ShaderMod codebase is like 15 years old) and bring a new performant way to run shaders on Vulkan to Minecraft.
For some reason most people forget about the forge versions of these mods those being Embeddium (a forge version of sodium) and Oculus (a forge version of iris) and there was a port of lithium but it has not updated past 1.20.1
Mainly because people don't like using forge unless they HAVE to, unlike fabric which offers some small performance improvements on its own, forge makes the game run slightly worse
