Working in ceramics thus I'm infinitely curious. Pots and more, a concrete floor, this workshop ain't luxurious. Piece by piece I set it up, I built it up, I did it. Yup. A kiln and wheel, they lit the spark to finally start and make my mark.
Porcelain, of course, I force the colors in now lets begin. Press the pedal, watch it spin. Cone it, open, not too thin. I pull and collar, like a scholar working on my goals within. This space I'm in, two years it's been, of making, filming, edittin'
Still here? Great! I appreciate your effort to accommodate me iterating inner thoughts, now go and watch me demonstrate. My videos, I can attest, you guessed it, they're my very best attempt to make it worth your time now let me get this off my chest.
Click it, watch it, like it, share it, this is where you must prepare for me to push the limits, make discoveries and humbly share.
Do you have more video on the exhaust for the kiln vent you made? It’s at November 2020. My husband & I are working to build my a pottery studio next to our house. I’d like to be able to vent a kiln with a vent like you show here. I don’t have a kiln primarily bc I don’t have space.
I am needing to make a mold to pour into for an art project would any of these work and if so which would be the best? The polymer clay is very hard I'm not able to use it. So after purchasing 6 of them I am left searching for other avenues to get a mold made.
How do you get rid of the air bubbles before firing? And can you throw this on the wheel after wedging? It’s great to see your clips and how informative they are! Thanks
Hey Jim, I've just found your videos and love your work. Today, through no skill, I landed on the perfect method for adding colour to clay. Add some water to the little zip lock bag of mason stain. Get a cup of coffee and chat for about 30 mins. When you come back, the stain will be like Toothpaste, which is perfect for adding to the clay. My previous attempts looked like a murder scene, or were too dry. Just wanted to share 😀
Hi. There haven't been any long form viideos on this channel in 3 years. And this short is a couple of years old. Do you still do pottery? I enjoyed watching the short. I hope that you didn't lose interest. You have some really good content.
Absolutely gorgeous pieces! And Jon didn’t send me. Lol it glad you came up on my feed. I’ve been doing pottery a long time and I’ve never seen the bottom do that!!
Jim--- I use mason stains (MS) for flowers and leaves. I fight with all the greens. Often my beautiful mint green becomes ugly brown once clear glaze is used. I've tried Amaco clear, zinc free and finally matte clear to maintain the green color. No luck. I mix my MS with b-mix to the desired color value and fire at cone 5. I've checked all of kilns and they're fine. Any guesses or suggestions?
That was really cool. I’ve been kind of afraid to start doing any plates because I’m 64. I guess that’s dumb letting your age hinder what you do but I might try this dough pin method. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your videos! They are very informative and you’re absolutely right - this information isn’t anywhere else on the web. One of my favorite things about clay is the ability to surrender perfection and go with the flow.
I guess I use the term wrong. when I say best friend it means I share funny memes, know all his interests, engage in conversations about his favorite books, shows, games. Laugh at RU-vid videos together. Joke around together and enjoy each other's company. I am there for him when he needs as a mom, but I have fun with the person he is. I never had a best friend growing up so that's what I see my son as. Just having the enjoyment of being together. Whether it's video games or a sketch comedy or an anime or a park. Is that not what best friend means? I mean I don't treat him like my therapist. I don't bring up hard topics and have him reassure my feelings. I don't know, best friend is such a broad term. I guess I don't understand. Best friend to me is just someone you enjoy their company when they are around and I always enjoy when my son feels like hanging out which is less now that he's starting teens 😢 but I accept him unconditionally and understand. Am I using the wrong phrase?
