Unloading kiln #9. Meet my dog Lucy. She's a black lab. She's about six years old but we've had her for three. She loves playing chase and tug. There may also be a special guest at the end. The kiln has a few glaze tests, a few pieces of agateware and a sneak peek of a new nerikomi flame mug I've been working on.
Happy Saturday morning. Say hi we haven't heard from you in a while. Enjoy!

Blue Flame mug, awesome!! and so cool that you are playing with your daughter in the clay... her pieces are amazing!!! She needs her own little stamp. You and yours stay well.

She addicted to clay. She says "Pah-tah-WEE" and already knows how to throw. I love it. She's perfect.

I really like the marbled blue mug that came out of the klin, but I *love* the marbled red, and I'm not even normally that much into red. It just has great contrast. In regards to your test with the small fired bits, were you thinking of crushing them up. and adding them as a colored grog of sorts, for some speckling in your white body? I know of a potter, who incorporates crushed up granite into some of his wares. I believe he wears thick, rubber gloves while throwing. I've taken some of my trimming scraps and attached them to the outside of the ware they were trimmed from. It was kind of interesting.

Thanks Ben. People seem to like red overall. Yeah I’m not sure what I’m thinking with the crush bits. Maybe sprinkle them on like funfetti or something 🤷‍♂️ who knows. A speckled clay could be cool. Good ideas and conversations as always 👍

Great pieces, have you tried doing glaze flo art? I wish I remembered the artists name, but they are a Japanese artist that uses just the glazes in the kiln with furniture and shelves to get wild flowing designs. Great work as usual and loved the bowl you made with your daughter, the outside surface looks like clouds.

I haven’t heard of that. That’ll be next google search for sure. Thanks. She’s quite the little potter and “pah tah wee” is her new favorite word. 😁

@@CeramicJim Looked for it again and as with all things looked for it becomes harder to find. I think I found it on Pinterest, but it quickly joined the the Professor said to try when I had my own kiln, like alcohol raku, obvara, baking soda sagging, burn out pottery, and so many more I have forgotten. Not sure if I found when looking for glazes or Japanese pottery.
