I respect Ojukwu s courage he demonstrated in his life but I refuse to agree with some of his assertions in this interview. First is that Azikiwe did not align with with NPC to prop up the north but to make Ibis feather their nest in the young nation it was designed to make Ibos corner available opportunities. It is not also true that the 1966 coupists intended to make Awolowo either President or prime minister. This is analysis is too simplistic and illogical to some of us who know the truth.

He did come with clean hands why Igbo were killed in d North and West. The main reason was that d coup of Major Kaduna Nzekwu killed political and military leaders of North and West without anyone killed in d Eastern region. This was d reason Igbo people were targeted for revenge of what d coup did to Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba and Mid-west leaders. Ojukwu only rubbed d surface of d issues. If there was nothing Igbo did to d North and West, why should they have been killed.

I remember my mom telling me how the Igbos in Kano were mocking hausa's their saying they killed their god Sarduana. You cant provoke a set of people that you look down upon and expect them to lay fallow. No one ever attacked the igbos until after the coup.

Nigerian government has not been bold enough to confronting this issue that has span through generations. However the cancellation of history studies and promotions of religious studies in schools, especially primary and secondary schools has done more harm and has given birth to bigotries and hate amongst the very young Nigerians. Many Nigerians have no idea, or understanding on the perspectives surrounding these events. Those aware are rather clinched to knowledge based on indoctrination packed with sentimes and anger ... The Nigerian government need to be bold enough and ready to talk about this and dealing with it clearly . If we then agree to still remain as one Nigeria, then we must agree on how we need to be government which has to be void of religious and tribal sentiments .
Who among present Nigerian leaders that can analyze the problems of this country now without tilting to either religion, regional or tribal scale. Now most northerners who was misled into believing the the Igbo was the problem from their leaders statement have now realized that they were deceived. The truth is straight and short, how I wish many Nigerians will listen impartially to this interview.

The Ibos led the coup to take power from the north. The original purpose of the coup was to eliminate both political and military leaders of other regions of Nigeria to give the Ibos advantage of a monopoly and control of government. And that was achieved when Aguiyi Ironsi became head of State, after the coup d’état, until the coup d’état of the North that restored the balance of power back to the north. Everyother story is just a make believe.
