A starvis sensor behind a good fast lens should offer similar results, but remember starvis sensors are much smaller than full frame sensors and hence gather less signal overall.
For this retest, the Voron-3 is now fitted with a much brighter lens (Pentax 50mm f/1.4) to give the old tube a fighting chance against modern NV. Didn't help a lot in extreme low light though.
Yeah, a reason I did not compare this to the ADNV-G14P2 is that it won't even be a fair comparison haha, the ADNV completely thrashes the 1PN. Well, to be fair to the NVT7 and Omni VIII, they're also a step above the 1PN as well at least in terms of gain.
I think this is satire. This same video was used to compare the difference in the new digital NV bin comparison to analog. And someone using it for this
@@brandonfrancis4218 No digital devices tested here though. Also, I'm now using a new camera (DJI Pocket 3) to film through the eyepieces of NODs instead of a phone, hence the jump in the video brightness and clarity. Will be doing the same with future tests with digital NV too.
2k thermal is craaazy. Super interesting stuff :) with there being so much competition in the thermal market i'm guessing there's ough to be some advancments and cheap prices ahead
the p2 keeps up better with the nnvt than i thought it would, but i'd say the nnvt still creates a more usable image. Which means something a little more premium like a photonis high gain or elbit/l3 gen 3 would be seeing better. would be curious what fps the p2 was at in the extreme low light test. as the lower it gets, the less useful it ends up being for navigation. Man we are so close nowadays though. I think in another 2 to 3 years, dnvgs will have well and truly caught up.
He actually compared it to a OMNI VIII tube in his earlier videos. It does surprisingly well, but yeah the only issue with it is that when it gets near its performance floor, the image becomes so noisy that in static scenarios that you can barely make out the image. Moving it around actually creates enough of a distinction that you can tell the image apart from the noise however.
@@han6211 id argue the floor is where it really matters with nvgs anyway. thats where the analog market is competing at this point. So for the price tag theyre asking i think making it to photonis high gains level of low light performance will make that price tag worth it given the reliability.
I'd recommend a legitimate camera if the ultimate goal is video quality. Something like a Sony ZV-E1 is an absolute beast in low light and even beats out some gen 2+ tubes in extreme low light at 4K 25p
I am extremely excited about this company. The clip on thermal devices are trash compared to this company's fusion device. I have a lot of experience with analog night vision, and I haven't been this excited about a piece of equipment in over a decade. If this company's fusion device works as well as I suspect it to, then I will be encouraging a lot of people to buy this company's products.
From a suburban location with no moon, put a 685nm long pass filter or a 12nm bandwidth hydrogen alpha imaging filter on the front and see what you can see if the nebulae and Milky Way. That’s a hard test for Gen3 and a good mark of how close digital has got.
Thank you for keeping me from buying the Opsin. I have extensive experience with analog and have a few cheap IR units. I was planning on getting a pinnacle gen 3 unit, but I'll save a few grand with this.
(Im putting this comment here cause you are more likely to see it on a more recent video. Talking about the Gas mask filter video you did a while ago) Hello im not sure if you will see this but is there a reliable seller on ali express/another website that you order these filters from? I have a GP5 and would rather just get these filters if they work. Im mainly using it when shooting suppressed to get less carbon crap/lead fumes inhaled. As long as they engage the GP-5 O-ring and are from a good source I would appreciate knowing exactly who and where to buy them.
@@loganwykstra7922 Basically any A2P3 filter you can find on there will do, especially those for the TF1. They are typically labelled like Z-A-P3-2. You will also find the FMJ series NBC filters on there, make sure they actually have a P3 section as there's a civilian vapor-only version of the filter. Hope this helps.

The G14P2...... making history! I have been following development of digital NV for some time now and this is truly ground breaking stuff. until now this level of clarity from digital just wasnt available. the fact that you can now buy DNV that is truly on par with analog tubes is a total game changer.
@@PumpUptheJam81 It's a really cheap generic silicone bracelet. You can probably find it anywhere on AliExpress or Amazon. Just search for the size you need.
wait....... norinco? i have a norinco t-54 9mm pistol with several thousands of rounds from me in it pluss however many previously shot before me. very interesting...
Yup! The GS610A is their foray into the civilian night vision market. Awesome WFOV optics but unfortunately they put the lowest spec tubes made by NNVT into them.
Great video. Do they plan on putting the 1.7" on their next generation unit? Looks like this is when digital starts to out perform the analogue available to civilians.
Many thanks! Unfortunately, I don't think the 1.7" APS-C sized sensors will ever make it into a head mounted unit due to the size and bulk of the optics required to support such a sensor. Albeit they already have their larger format sensors in handheld units.
This is a Romeo-class, not a Whiskey. The Romeo was a later design. They do look a little alike on the surface, but there are significant differences. The North Korean Navy still operates a few of their version of this submarine.
I just want to say that I really appreciate what you did with the video editing, to go along with the music. It’s a small thing, but I wanted to let you know that I see what you’re doing, and I like it. 👍
Hmmm, you can get 5 nvg-30 for the cost of the g14p. Maybe the price would be worth it if the digital market didn’t already have $1500-2000 options that preform similar or better than the g14p. Especially for American buyers than don’t want long shipping times and want American based Warranty and repair options that don’t take months to complete including shipping. But definitely a cool system, if only it didn’t carry a $1700+ price tag when analog setups are a small stones throw away price wise I would grab a pair myself.
I agree, I hope the ADNV prices come down in the future as the technology matures and more options enter the market. Speaking of which, there are other digital units that perform even better? Available now for the 1500-2000 mark? I know of the SiOnyx Opsin but urban survivor tested it against the cheaper ADNV-G14SE and the SE crushed it in low light.
@@hypemilitaria6447 i agree that the g14 has great performance for a digital unit. But with all of the pvs-69 variations and other self assembled kits on the market I couldn’t see myself shelling out the money for a adnv-g14p at the moment. But I can absolutely see a large audience of buyers who either don’t want the hassle of self assembling a unit or don’t want to dish out $2000-2500+ for a American digital unit or an older analog unit. I agree that the adnv-g14 unit’s definitely deserve respect and a place on anyone’s list when searching for night vision. I personally just wish that they were closer to $1500, but like you said once production has carried on for a while the price should adjust accordingly. When that happens I personally think the g14 units would be on the top of my list if I was considering a new night vision setup.
Im a student so i cant really afford stuff like these yet but I want to get into NV later and these digitals really peak my interest I think if I end up buying binos it will probably be these
