I've always just used an edge finder and then adjust my DRO accordingly. This is handy for mills that don't have a digital readout though!

I use .200 edge finders most of the time except for larger diameters.

I’m trying to repair an old wind chime and I’m hung up on how to tie the knots correctly to set the windchimes to specific heights like you did on yours

What sort of acid(?) were you using at 14:57 to clean the metal after you did the tube notching on the fittings? Overall, quite a well thought out design, well done!

Muriatic acid I picked up at a hardware store.

An end mill spinning at a medium speed with a piece of paper makes a great edge finder. When the end mill grabs the paper your are .003 away.

I also use that method. Touching off sides, or end of EM, and also touching off surface grinding.

baking pan with a computer server fan attached connected to the rad face works great. and low draw. they are 120 volts . For a water collector you can put the coarse stainless steel pot scrubber pads inside and it gives moisture a place to condense on.

I’m a woodworker and have been using this method for over 20 years on my drill press when I have to drill wooden dowels. It works easily with large diameter dowels (or metal pipe/rods) but a little more time is required for smaller diameter pieces. Great job explaining to everyone.

Excellent work, sir! As a jazz guy, I would suggest that you consider exploring the use of whole tone and diminished whole tone (aka "altered dominant" scales on future projects. You DEFINITELY have the "chops" for it. Very impressive.

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (The Great I AM, YHVH, El Shaddai, Adonai, God of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham). John 3:10-18

It does to some degree, but the length of the horn also plays a part. The screw has to be set to a certain depth, otherwise the diaphragm won't resonate.

See now i've been thinking about this topic for awhile wouldn't an automotive intake from a luxury vehicle work better? Not only is it built with baffling and chambers to quiet induction noise just like from a compressor but it also has an integrated air filter. Im going to hit up the local pick yard and test my idea.
@ArnoldsDesign

I now use an air box from a hemi. The lines are plumbed through the wall. The air filter can handle any cfm I throw at it. I have another video showing it.

This is exactly how and why I trained as a machinist in the mid 1970's. Fitted BSA hubs into 1965 Royal Enfield. Very similar, threads hold brake plate in place. Ended up in motorcycle dealers after a few years in factory, never liked clocking in and out.
