Something i really like about the flashbacks in Frieren is the context in which we see them. You mentioned briefly how we saw a flashback in the form of a dream, but every other flashback we see is either a dream like that, or a memory that pops up for Frieren. They also pop up during an action sequence, because something during the action sequence reminded her of something in a memory, and that memory happens to be plot relevant. It makes the flashbacks feel extremely natural.
Does zenitsu not over come his fear at the end of the hashira training arc after learning about his master's suicide? Also, you brought up how Stark feels a sort of obligation to help people and that requires him to face his fear. I don't think Zenitsu has that sort of feeling of obligation, I agree with "just walk away" but his respect and love for his master may be the reason he stays. And then receiving a letter saying that his master committed seppuku because his other student had become a demon is Zenitsu's catalyst for his growth. Up until now Zenitsu has been "saved" by his subconscious/instinct and I think he knows this but can't figure out a way to overcome it. But the death of his master opened his eyes and made him aware of how pathetic he has been sadly, but too little too late. Great video by the way, def subbing ❤
Black clover i got sock of everyone coming back to life. Whats the point of a 3 episode long boss fight when they always come back to life a few episodes later. The whole show just started feeling like filler. Also mushoko tensen, way too much pedo vibes. And the story got lame around the end of season 1. Had so much potential too.
shonen battle is a repetitive hamster wheel like cultivation novels. they are predicable. makes them lack depth and lose appeal. less you just want bad ass fight scenes, then have at it.
valaki jár a fák hegyén // Someone walks on the treetops, ki gyújtja s oltja csillagod // who lights and snuffs out your star. csak az nem fél kit a remény // Only those do not fear már végképp magára hagyott // who have been utterly abandoned by hope. én félek még reménykedem // I am still afraid, I still hope- ez a megtartó irgalom // this sustaining mercy, a gondviselő félelem // the caring fear kísért eddigi utamon // has accompanied me on my way so far. valaki jár a fák hegyén // Someone walks on the treetops. vajon amikor zuhanok // I wonder, when I fall, meggyújt-e akkor még az én // will my fire still light tüzemnél egy új csillagot // a new star? vagy engem is egyetlenegy // Or will I too be compressed sötétlő maggá összenyom // into a single dark seed, s nem villantja föl lelkemet // and will my soul not flash egy megszülető csillagon // on a newly born star? valaki jár a fák hegyén // Someone walks on the treetops. mondják úr minden porszemen // They say he is lord of every grain of dust. mondják hogy maga a remény // They say he is hope itself. mondják maga a félelem // They say he is fear itself. The thing with Sein leaving is, the fact that it felt like he died since we most likely won't see him for a while, we hope he comes back but he might not. One example of this (albeit a bad one) is the deaths in Jujutsu Kaisen, although Sein didn't die we want him back since hes gone due to him being a lovable character.
I wouldn’t say that Himmel was overly vain. Sure, he wanted to be remembered for all time, but not at the expense of others, or even himself really, even though he was going to fight a demon that might of killed him. He was very humble, quiet in his own way, and caring of others, even before himself. At least, that is the expression of him I got.
I like your video, but Usopp get's his biggest moment in Water 7/Ennies Lobby, where he is faced with constant defeat and this insecurities lead to a lot of turmoil within the whole crew there are also consequences for his actions and those of his crewmates. So it's very unfortunate that you only have a very rudimentary understanding of him. He would only give you a stronger case that he is a very well written character. I like that you were very transparent though about how much you have seen of every show and your arguments were concise. I was also very disappointed with the character writing in Demon Slayer. I also liked Zenitsu but this stick that he only is strong when he is unconscious gets old fast and like you said there is no character growth. I actually couldn't continue watching after the train arc. They want us to care for a character with stylish moves, that seems to be a nice dude but only talks about food. They then continue to cry for half an episode. I think Demon Slayer is only popular for it'S basic promise and the great animations. Characters seem to be very one-dimensional.
Your video actually makes his name more fitting for me. I didn't really understand why he was called "Sein", which means "to be" (even though i am german). And now, while watching your video my mind just went "oh~ it's because of 'to be or not to be/sein oder nicht sein'." Because his name is supposed to indicate the question "will he or won't he be part of the group". Really, there is some amazing detail work going on in this story.
I like Frieren’s version of subversion of a common trope. Rather than killing (cough JJK) an established character, they find a better way of sending him off.
yeah, while it didnt impact my over all view/opinion on the show (its very good) it was surprisingly hard to watch, I've watched anime with some SA scenes, and even read all of berserk, which if you've read you'll know it contains extremely heavy/graphic topics and SA scenes, for some reason the scene in Heavenly delusion was exceptionally disturbing, I literally put my hands up to hide some of the screen, I was completely disgusted Im happy to see someone share the same opinion
Just as a note for script improvement - Almost no time was spent talking about the boogeyman aspect. This was a video talking about character writing then just saying this character we well written. no examples were given where you demonstrate her showing this. This was a lot of tell, not show.
8:46 I’m pretty sure he’s spoken about this, he fights due to his “grandpa” bc he wants to make him proud. I won’t get into spoilers. But that’s his reasons to fight. Also I agree. I wish there was progression, where in that entertainment district, he was fight but just with his eyes closed, not this weird sleep walking. Showing each time we see him he’s forcing himself to become more and more conscious. He was my fav character in season one, but due to his inability to fight on his “own” really makes it hard to appreciate his strengths and weaknesses
BLEACH. At some point the mangaka Kubo was like "you know what, we got a hundred characters already, for then new ones lets just smash the keyboard and see what comes up."
Demon's are amazing in Frieren, but they are evil :) . Good and evil are subjective concepts after all. And from Frieren's world human's perspective they are certainly evil. Oh and I'd say its vs person, not vs nature.
@@Jonas-jx3kwWell, that's the trick, there is no such thing as objective evil. Both good and evil are subjective by definition. What's good for one can be evil for another.
I agree with Cyberpunk. It's a good show but the story is nothing too amazing or write home about. Prob the same stories goes by dozens every day in Night City.
Zenitsu is a shit character all around, with no development, shit personality and huge flaws he ignores, Whith him having 3 “cool moments” in the serie which don’t bring him any development as he returns to the same ol’ scared perverted pikachu with obsession issues, him fainting is the second worst part of his character and I would prefer he had dual personality disorder because being unconscious he can do more things than what he can do when awake, this goes beyond any realm of logic and enter the gates of bullshittery.
hi! im so interested in what you would think of these movies: - josee, the tiger and the fish - Maquia: when the promised flower blooms when you get the time to see them id love to hear your input
Not directly about the video but you talking about attention seeking made me think about how I and others are "attention seeking". And now I feel better about myself
One of the things I loved about The Apothecary Diaries is how mundane the mysteries were. Maomao was raised in a bad neighborhood, by an adoptive parent in a back alley near to a red light district. Only put into service in the imperial capital because she was kidnapped and sold into indentured servitude. Death was around every corner, and for her, that was a normal Tuesday. The plot had to work around her time and interest, not the other way around, and it didn't always come all at once. Something about it just feels, I dunno, real..
German here. For some reason I never made some obvious connections, you pointed out here. I just assumed "Fern" refers to the english word "Fern" (I guess, that because I read the name for the first time, before I realized every name is german, and after that I never bothered to re-evaluate my interpretation.). Thus I just thought of the names as somewhat random, and never thought too much about the actual meaning behind them. And for "Himmel" I always thought of him as "Heaven", but for some reason I didn't make the connection to his sky-blue hair. The theme, of "sky in background", when she thinks of Himmel, is very nice. Thank you for pointing that out. In the Manga many spells have german names, too. But these always seemed even more random to me. (Maybe because the translator didn´t know german well enough, to find the right word?). ---------------------------- Some other thing: I really really hope you start reading the manga some time in the future. I think there are many details there, that you could talk about. The spell-names are one thing, but I really want to see your interpretation of the cover-images of almost all mange-issues, where frieren is the only character that always glances directly at the reader (I think Serie does that too). When she glances at the reader within a chapter, than it often is revealed later, that someone was watching her (I think this happens in the anime, too. So I guess this would be a potential video-topic, even if you want to stick strictly to the anime)
IMO, Freiren is also about moving on. It's is a very unique story because its built off of not the adventure but after the "happily ever after" line we see in most stories. Its the "end of an era" saga. We see torches being passed. We see heroes and villains who rose, die. But the world still goes on. It really experiments with perception of time and the effect it has on storytelling.
