Ok my question is on fasting. I was under the impression that if you break your fast with ANY calories whatsoever then you lose the benefit of the fast and the body switches back to “times are good” mode. But I think what David is saying is that a couple spoons of yogurt gets burnt up and then you’re back to empty no harm done. Is there any research on this?

According to the studies I read fasting increases mortality, rather than lowering it as claimed. Even fasting overnight too long is bad for mortality. Ridiculous to limit eating to one meal per day.
@frankfarber984
@frankfarber984 23 дня назад
Oversimplification. E.g. how does Mr. Sinclair want to reverse for example arterial plaque? Wrt Metformin, it is highly disputed whether it extends lifespan beyond that of non-diabetics. There are valid studies which indicate the opposite and even studies demonstrating that Metformin is increasing mortality for diabetics, which would mean that they are not beneficial at all, but harmful. I would reject them before more solid evidence is available.

Nw in haffkine's time he was popular but the the indian medical association of colonial times gave him lot of torture for trying to save the human race from bubonic plague just because he was a bacteriologist n not a doctor. He also lost his mother at young age. I see parallels here. He write a few books and you can read all his studies but books are work he put in summarizing his research and changes over time but in a conversation form, easy to understand. No one writes those for free, and I am a writer. You don't have to read any of it, so none is about using you for money. He doesn't sell any products.

As a person who lives in the Mediterranean I find the claims that we eat non or low meat meals ludicrous and that applies to the Italian Blue Zone. The Mediterranean diet that is recommended by the medical profession is an artificial construct as false as the claims by Ancel Keys on saturated fat. There are other factors involved including high cell melatonin, nitrite, vitamin D3 due to being in the Sun a lot, a microbiome tuned to local foods, less stress and control of circadian rhythm from getting morning and evening sunlight etc. Before WWII the Okinawan diet was based on pork as well as seafood - when people look at the diet of octogenarians they should look at what they ate before age 12 and especially their caloric intake since a restricted energy intake at this time has been shown to extend lifespan not only in the person affected but future generations and Europe went through several periods of famine. There is a recent study from Japan of octogenarians and older living near Tokyo and it found the key factor was the makeup of their gut microbiome. The oldest woman of record, as resident of France who lived 124 years ate a normal French diet high in dairy products and meat and smoked till she was 110 as well as knocking back Cognac and wine. The plant polyphenols are phytochemicals which are the plant equivalent of pesticides and fungicides and not produced due to water stress but attacks by pests and diseases such that scarred products have high levels.

Hi Professor Sinclair, I’ve been following your incredible work on aging and longevity with great interest. I was wondering if you have considered exploring the connection between your research and Progeria? Progeria, with its accelerated aging effects due to specific genetic mutations, might provide valuable insights into the fundamental mechanisms of aging. Studying how the processes you’re researching interact with the mechanisms observed in Progeria could potentially uncover new perspectives and therapeutic strategies. Just a thought that might inspire some exciting new directions in your research! Best regards

David Sinclair acts like he is altruistic but he is grifting the community. MetroBiotech, of which he is a cofounder, has gotten NMN banned by the FDA for supplement use. He doesn't care if people who could benefit from NMN lose access because he will make a ton of money while people may die earlier. I have been taking it for 5 years and now access it it is being removed. David Sinclair lacks integrity.

You come across as such a sincere and trustworthy person in your podcasts and interviews. Today there are reports that the FDA is seizing international NMN shipments at American warehouses due to your actions via metrobiotech. Why did you work so hard to promote NMN to the public as an aging/disease prevention intervention only to have the FDA make it inaccessible to the public?

It's one of the compounds in meat. So it's not the same thing. You can also make it yourself by crushing the bones, boiling it and cooling it into a jello like state. It's a ton of collagen and you can eat it or make soup with it. Use it for cooking or make a Russian dish called Kholodetz. Meat can be okay in small amounts. It's just not the best for us. I'll never stop eating it but I don't over consume meat.

@never_give_up90 Месяц назад
@@nathangarnham5467 yes and no! You ask great questions, though. They say it's a sign of intelligence. Anyway, if you notice, stuff I listed included processed meat but I made sure it was noted. Meat still causes the rest of those issues. Doesn't mean you should never have it but a lot of those issues are the reason for becoming fat, so any meat contributes to it. We have overconsumption of meat and that is the cause of many problems. More so age related diseases. The healthiest diet is vegan(not vegetarian) with supplements, many of us can't stick to that. You can easily be that healthy if you eat meat sparingly and balance out your meals. I usually limit it to a few times a week once a day, usually small amounts. It keeps my nutrition top notch with B12 in perfect shape even without supplements. Multivitamins also have it but I don't take those every day. You can get blood work done to see your vitamin levels and other health markers. It helps you understand what you need and what to focus on. My vegan friend eats no animal products and takes vitamins whenever she remembers, so not daily. She has no issues with vitamins and minerals. Her blood work has always been perfect. She still looks like she is in her 20s. Even her B-12 is perfect btw(found in meat) Humans didn't have this easy access to meat, but farming slowly changed it. Now we just over-do-it. So be careful when it comes to meat. Also, avoid diets that recommend eating high amounts of meat, all of those have been found unhealthy in the long run. Possibly even worse if you are a male.
