Seriously, I’ve been lifetime intermittent fasting and every new person, even bankers and doctors who have all my bio/med information routinely say I look 30-35 years younger. They all ask to see my gov ID, especially after repeated blood panels that test pristine.
Just some FYI. a lot of longevity scientists don’t believe in God. If you want to think like they do, consider different perspectives on reality. Almost no one here is a “god blesser” type
I am a G I surgeon but I take particular interest in chronic diseases and old age . It would be super interesting to see if we could really wipe out old age related chronic debilitating diseases in future.
@@jeffreysorensen5298 yea but can u make a pill for that so we can profit off it? We know how to end chronic disease already. Are actually some powerful tools available but people have to want to do it. Something like 90% of all health improvements are realized simply by losing weight. Regardless of the diet.
@@theresaho9696 you are absolutely correct. Most people realize that obesity is the number comorbidity for a poor outcome of Covid but few realize that number 2 is fear and anxiety.
Agree! if loosing our estrogen after the 1st half of our lives triggers a few serious diseases like alzheimers, can any of the mentioned treatments cover for that besides taking lifetime HRT?
Again Dr. Sinclair, your colleague is asking Excellent and Thorough questions , that cover all points a viewer such as me was thinking about- such as the growth hormone discrepancy, among many other questions. Thanks to both of you for putting forth such interesting and fascinating information.
My doc put me on sermoreline the precursor to hgh. He checked my blood level for HGH and it was low. He started me out on .2 ml injection nightly. Over the course of six months I’ve had my level checked several times. Now I am at .4 ML after six months, the sweet spot. It is safe. It is just telling your body to produce HGH if it needs it and it is in the healthy normal range now. Feeling great
It would be great to get Dr. Sinclair's take on menopause treatment HRT; loss of estrogen = loss of bone. How to improve and reverse bone loss. Increasing quality bone density ... can NMN Stimulates Bone Marrow Stem Cells to Form More Bone ... ? Thank you Dr. Sinclair for what you do!!! 🙏
I’m surprised you haven’t talked about one of the best things you can do for anti-aging. Donating blood should be on the top of your list. I would love to hear you talk about the benefits of donating blood.

I really like to listen to the lifespan podcast, but as a woman I feel women data are invisible in most of the researches. Could you please Dr Sinclair apporach some topics from the aspects of women? Especially when you talk about hormones like in this episode? It would be fab to hear about more similarities and differencies if there are any between a female or male body in terms of ageing! Thank you and congrats! And by the way, I’m Hungarian too as your grandma😊
Yep. So frustrating when they both say "people" when they mean men. Even rat research is largely on male rats. Grrrr.... Had a conversation with a researcher at the Salk Institute and he said "Well, womens' hormones are so complicated. It is like you are a different person every day." Lousy excuse for ignoring 50% of the population.
Ja I think humans and females in particular live long enough...I am definitely more interested in FEELING good as I age and being healthy and strong. I would happily trade a few years for vibrancy in older years.
Only over the past 5 to 10 years have I finally learned the importance of good rest and sleep to good health. This is an ongoing learning experience. Will report again in 3 years if I am still about.

Please address the hormones that are dominant in women also. Women have issues with dipping testosterone, but estrogen and progesterone also have a huge impact on women as we age.

David and team, Thank you for the continued commitment to optimizing life. A discussion on the Microbiome would be tremendous as I have struggled with GI issues (IBS-C) and believe I have been suffering with invasive candidiasis as I have recently taken fluconasole which provided relief not only in my stomach but also caused the pain and stiffness to go away from joints, back, shoulder, etc. I am 49 yrs old and have taken many antibiotics throughout my life predominantly for sinus related issues which may have caused this condition of excessive candidiasis in my body and am curious to know if there is a way to restore the microbiome and healthy bacteria to optimal levels without Fecal Matter Transplantation as this is not readily available in the US. I'd also be inclined to go away to a clinic of sorts for 30 days if you know of one that would provide the structure and support to restore the microbiome. Thanks again for all of your dedication and work!
Thank you Dr David Sinclair! Athletic Green is just delivered to my house now. Appreciate your videos it’s so helpful. Thank you! You look great in that blue sweater.❤️

I was gonna take BPC-157 (Body protective compounds) for joint inflammation, I found out they are really act like a HGH effect with Angiogenesis , which literally creates new blood vessels that will heal organs , etc. etc. but the risk of cancer goes up , because cancers grow and get destroyed , but if we ever were to get cancer , added blood vessels could add to tumor growth as well as other diseases
I became legally blind after my pituitary tumor was removed I am praying that an intelligent man like this can come up with something like a peptide or stem cell that can regenerate my optic nerves that were damaged
The TRT studies that I've seen, including the one you linked have been a wash for mortality relations. Testosterone levels in men has been at a steady decline for the past 50 years. With there being a positive benefit to cardiovascular health, muscle size (particularly in legs, as in the Marcelo Rodrigues dos Santos and Shalender Bhasin study you linked) also correlating to healthy TRT doses, makes me believe there may even be a correlation to longevity. TRT has been shown to increase patient's insulin sensitivity, and even decreases c-reap (Xue-yan Wu 2009). Hypogonadism, SHBG, hematacrit/hemoglobin, estrodial issues have all been shown to be an issue with administration frequency, rather than the drug itself. It is all alleviated with a more in line pulsatile injection frequency of daily, or every other day. Also, it should be noted that Asian men tend to have a 20-30% higher testosterone than Caucasians. Japanese men in particular tend to live 10-15% longer than Caucasians. There are thousands of different biomarkers to examine here, but the correlation is strong enough for me to grant its efficacy, or at least place it under further examination. That being said, low testosterone has been linked to numerous deleterious effects (terrible sleep, hypogonadism, lack of drive, sexual dysfunction, weak muscles, etc.), all of which are correlated with mortality. In my opinion, the benefits for this far outweigh the cons, and could even be correlated with positive effects.
Yamanaka factors have come so far way faster than I expected when I was first reading his research I thought it was going to be 10 or twenty years to make any real progress because of cancer.
This podcast on anti-aging along with the research on CRSPR and gene editing/disrupting really is amazing. The only thing better than this would be a way to transplant consciousness into an already younger version of oneself. I watch this on RU-vid then I listen to it again on the podcast
More plates more dates, check his stuff, highly into pharma for hair... personally I'd cycle eating times and meals per day, some days eat loads otherdays don't eat and some days do omad ect.. Next cycle in fasting for long periods (5-10 days) a few times a yr, then give your body signs of abundance by eating loads of meat, organs and fruit the rest of the yr... Understand that ketones boost stemcells. For your hair the above works but also stop using shampoo and conditioner it's poison, just was with warm water then cold after and stimulate blood in that area (massage) and break up calcium deposits

I had a low testosterones level but no libido problems' (thankfully) but I had hot flashes (I'm male) and osteoporosis due to it. There was no cause found. Low carbs/no sugars, except dark chocolate, 90% cocoa. This year, I have another dexa test. Hopefully they are better scores, than last time. I also do weights twice a week, like hiit, dancing, 3 to 4 times a week, yoga and pilates, twice a week each. So try and keep healthy. I am also on thyroid healing protocol, to get rid of my medication for thyroid. But until the test is done officially, I cannot say if it is working.

As a child, I was growth hormone deficient and underwent GH therapy for most of my adolescence. Aside from catching up growth and development, people who are growth hormone deficient (whether as children or adults) take GH because being deficient puts us at higher risk for lots of major health issues and risk factors including visceral fat, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, cardiovascular issues, etc. So I was surprised to hear Dr. Sinclair say that populations with lower GH have fewer health problems. I'm also curious now: I understand his point about those who take GH recreationally or as a "body hack", but for those of us for whom it was/is medically necessary, what effect does the later-but-accelerated development have on us in terms of overall longevity? I was a late bloomer but developed pretty quickly when I did. I'm 40 now and am usually told I look much younger which seems like a good sign, but I'm wondering what effect the GH deficiency and treatment might have had on things. Has there even been any research on this? I feel like whenever GH is discussed even among scientists it's always in the context of recreational/elective use and it's hard to find information relevant to my situation. (I previously left this comment on your appearance on the Huberman Lab podcast but never got a response so I'm leaving it again here!)

I have heard David say you should keep your testosterone levels up in a different interview (can't recall which one at the moment). This certainly contradicts that statement. I think if your levels are low, you need to keep them in the normal range.

Most definitely! I have found that in my city (Pittsburgh, PA), which is primarily a traditional medicine community, the majority of physicians are very hesitant to prescribe HRT and claim beyond a certain age, your risk to develop cancer is very high. I know this isn’t supported by current research. Also, there are few functional medicine practitioners who also have MDs - a background I am seeking so I can receive advisement from both perspectives. My DO wouldn’t even consider prescribing bio identical HRT and told me I should find a gynecologist who would. Even these practitioners are very hesitant and keep referring to older research in their explanations. This is SO very frustrating, and leaves many women struggling to find care that could prevent many downstream problems.
What would happen if you cycled on and off trt and hgh so that you get the short term benefits, but then stopped those and go into a longevity mode where you do minimal mtor generation and lots of sleep etc..... so cycling between abundance memetics and adversity memetics... so you get gains during abundance mode and then maintenance mode during adversity mode, then cycle back into abundance mode and do it all over again.
I am following these podcasts with high interest... as I am 64 and on TRT, do intermittent fasting, weight train and take NMN and other supplements... (will be adding resveratrol). One issue that was not taken in consideration with regards to aging and testosterone is the fact that life is more than just time. How do you ballance adding life to your time vs adding time to your life. Quite frankly, TRT gave me my life back. My level of energy, motivation and general mood are way up with testosterone.... I would not live like I was before... The added estrogen that comes with TRT is actually cardio protective and has cured my joint pain... Maybe you should stay away of subjects you don't know well or you are biased against... Testosterone can actually be protective against prostate cancer and high levels of testosterone is actually being studies to treat certain forms of prostate cancer... I think your view is a little outdated... The biggest issue I have with all this longevity talk is the fact, it seems, that you have to choose between being vibrant, energetic but short lived or be starving, cold and low energy and live longer... Darn... Everything that makes me feel good seems bad (Mtor activation as I like my meat... testosterone as I enjoy being energetic and productive... ) ... Maybe I am looking for optimization and you are talking about absolute lifespan... Don't get me wrong, I love the podcast... great info to integrate into what I think will be a middle way for me... Cheers
I am with you - started TRT when I was 64 - now 68 - and I have experienced many benefits. I think that what Sinclair misses about TRT is that he has a “theory” that it may send the wrong signals to your body to “grow”. What is interesting is that, although Testosterone is anabolic, it is focused mainly on helping muscle and bone strength. Consequently, you can consume less protein (which too much can create issues) than someone who has low T. I think the bottom line is that the studies are pretty consistent that TRT reduces all-cause mortality while improving quality of life. Big Pharm and the medical industry in general do not like TRT because it cannot be patented and it takes a lot of a doctor’s time to get you dialed in. My understanding is that Sinclair is working on patenting concoctions out of his lab to sell as longevity drugs. Hence, TRT could be considered “competition” in spite of its efficacy.
Serge, you are right on all counts. Sinclair is still very much of a newbie to the testosterone space; one can tell this by listening to him. He will probably acquire better knowledge, with time. Meanwhile, don't deny yourself the benefits of testostereone just because he is still relatively ignorant! Also true that there is a balance between strength and vigor, and longevity. More of one, less of the other, or so it seems. Maybe someone will figure a way around that, eventually, but for now it seems you must choose.
@@AncestralFuel You are correct also. Testosterone's anabolic effects are such that you can recover from workouts and maintain strength on much lower protein intake; this is a grossly-neglected fact in the longevity space (Sinclair, Attia, and many others). They also neglect -- are probably ignorant of -- the literature describing the benefits that you mention such as reduced ACM, better QOL, etc. They are perhaps ignorant, and/or perhaps tend to dismiss because of prejudice against hormone therapy, especially hormones related to anabolic steroids. Also correct that TRT is non-patentable and involves a lot of old-fashioned patient-focused medical ARTISTRY (what you call "dialling in", which is beyond the science, beyond EBM), and as such will tend to be ignored and dismissed by commercial and some other entities. TRT cannot be successfully practiced by idiots following EBM cookbooks; therefore it will tend to be less popular. Also, yeah Sinclair might have a bias against things that he cannot sell. IDK, but that is the way things go, too often.
Good morning, Matt. You have a John Heilemann-esque vibe. Take it as a compliment. I think you do a great job of co-hosting, asking enlightening questions and keeping the conversation flowing. David is pretty good, too. Signed, Matt's mom
Okay, so episode 6 hopefully will be on hair (re)growth too. This is a big issue for me right now. Perhaps for many other women too. I will keep in mind about GHK Copper (I hope I spelled that right). It was mentioned halfway through this episode (and the warning about peptides and their negative side-effects). Thank you! 🙏
one reason for hair loss is ( in men ) is increase in DHT on face and head . on face DHT increases hair like beard or face hair . on head high DHT results in hair loss . it can be something similar in women too but idk .
I hear you, it's a huge issue for me as well, I've been losing a lot of hair due to the hormonal imbalance for the last 6 years and it's still so heartbreaking...also I can't find a treatment that really works and keeps this under control
I guess a valid question to ask is: how much is longevity worth it if we feel miserable? What I am getting at is that the adversity memetics are generally not fun, don't make us feel too great in the moment (fasting, hot and cold extreme etc) and yet "abundance hormones" like TRT and HGH seem to make people feel so healthy. Would we rather live a bit shorter and feel amazing? Or have longer, more miserable times? Also, as doc hinted, restoring levels to healthy baseline doesn't seem to be problematic?
The HGH discussion skipped over the TRIM and TRIMX trials done by Greg Fahy, and showing age reversal with epigenetic clocks. Shame - I really wanted to hear Davids view on that work
This was a very interesting episode! I like this topic as it has not been repeated before in other interviews. I hope one day we can just take a pill that's gonna make us younger haha.
As always, interesting to watch and learn about the cutting edge in anti-ageing. Thanks David and Matthew! Dr. Sinclair is looking younger than usual lately - any recent changes in the protocol?
As the great 20th century philosopher Yogi Berra once said, "the future ain't what it used to be". This is a very exciting time in biomedical sciences. Would be very interested in your thoughts on the future of "quantum access" therapies that re-engineer the quantum morphogenetic fields that are the basis of our material blueprint. This, I believe is even more 'upstream" medicine.
Fascinating idea that of HGH + diabetic drugs to reverse aging + improve physical performance. One thing I noticed for facial aging is if you want to reduce wrinkles or dark circles you need not be losing fat at the same time, or preferably even increase calories. Why? Its seems that whatever topical therapy you apply can dry your skin if you dont have fat to sustain it. I even use honey+curcumin+green tea, which isnt supposed to dry, and it still dries if I dont take care for it. Btw if it dries then your face looks more aged not less, thats why its an important issue and challenging the idea that we always need to decrease sugar to look younger.
Serious question: Has anyone studied or even considered mTOR activation cycling? What I mean by that is high mTOR activation for couple days and then low activation. The reason to do this would be to build muscle for several days, then rest and clean up the body. From everything I know about mTOR and autophagy (very limited knowledge), it seems to me it's not necessary to have mTOR downregulated and autophagy activated constantly. What I'm trying to test is if there's upper limit of autophagy activation or some point where longer autophagy activation has diminishing returns. The other limiting factor is how long it takes for autophagy to activate (2-4 days?) The main variable is length of each cycle, it could be days, weeks or maybe even longer. I know about intermittent fasting, which is great, but it seems to me that autophagy activation requires longer mTOR downregulation. eg. I cannot eat large steak every evening and expect it to work. There's also a reason why Dr. Sinclair stays on low meat diet over longer periods of time. Why even think about this? Building muscle has a lot of other health benefits, especially in elderly people. Dr. David Sinclair, could you please elaborate a bit on this topic? Thank you!
Hi David, I studied your book and have been using NMN, etc since Feb 2021. My stem cells have been banked and I have 1.4Billons of my cells IV'ed and IN'ed in my body since 2020.
Okay, I have watched all the videos thus far, but have heard almost nothing on the accumulation of intercellular junk, and just a bit about junk inside the cell, and what can be done about it. Because it looks to me like this is a major player in the current limits of human lifespan. There is more than one kind of heart disease, and the one killing the 100+ crowd is often Wild-type transthyretin amyloid (WTTA), where transthyretin amyloid builds up in the heart and some other tissues making the tissue stiff, and it becomes very tiring to even stand. 25% of men over 80 already show signs of this beginning. And this is just one of 25 or 30 proteins that can misfold and accumulate in the body. Then there is glucosepane. This Advanced Glycation End Product can't be removed by the kidneys, even if they are healthy, even if the other AGEs can be. This also builds up stiffening tissues and is implicated in a number of aging diseases. And what about lipofuscin? Maybe that will be covered when skin is the topic, but this crud is also in the brain, muscles, the heart and other internal organs. Then there are the studies about the intentional conjoined mice, where they saw the health of the older mouse improve, and the younger mouse go downhill. And after a series of studies they determined that it was chemicals in the blood of the older mouse that was the problem, and by plasmaphereses they could restore the older mice to health. That to me suggests that there are accumulations not just in tissue but in the blood. I don't know if healthy kidneys is the answer to that or if there are things the kidneys can't do anything about, like that glucosepane, which needs periodically removed. Then there is scar tissue. There are injuries within the body from infections and whatnot, and the body chooses speed over accuracy during repair, but if you live long enough, these sloppy repairs will also accumulate. We also accumulate infections that the body can't ever completely eliminate. Older people have much more of these than younger people. Things like toxoplasmoses, and cytomegalovirus. Ultimately, I don't think these things are benign. It is likely they wear down defenses, or promote diseases we haven't yet tracked down to them. I sure would like this accumulation topic discussed.
My main takeaway today --> A real and sustainable solution to survive the zombie apocalypse - "brains to go" ... I love this PODCAST! Makes me feel smart. Haha
❓In a previous episode, David mentioned that too much iron is bad. But how much iron is too much? What is the maximum level for Hemoglobin [g/dl] and Ferritin [ng/ml]? Which values are optimal (for an adult)?
I wish I had seen this podcast earlier, I had been using peptides to deal with an injury that got worse and to boot, I now have arthritis in my hip and big toe.
@52 min on thymus regeneration: See research of Janet Lor which showed that older (65 to 80) who cycled alot over many years preserved their thymus output of T cells and had immune function of people decades younger. It's also known from other research that exercise increases NAD+ and modulates other metabolic factors towards younger states.

If it's still in your digestive system in the morning & affecting your blood levels...then when does the actual fasting time start? Thanks for any info!!!! Love this channel
Yeah Huberman made it sounds like by the morning time, in this example, you'd be fasted for sure. I get the gist that it's like 4 hours after you eat that the fasted state starts to set on
Are you referring to peptides that were made in Russia and now available here? These are said to heal the heart, liver, brain and other organs. What do you think? They are said to extend lifespan by 30%, but I think that means expected lifespan of an already ill person. They are made from animals or synthesized.
Watching these episodes while I teach myself programming and cybersecurity xD and thinking about it, my current dietary clock is about the same anyway. It really wouldn't be too hard for me to just eat once a day, already doing that anyway!
