Very interesting you went with Harvest Floor and mad respect for that. It was Monolith for me but I can definitely appreciate some of their earlier stuff. Also I'm glad that they got mentioned at all. Most lists like this don't include CD, at least not from what I've seen.
There is conversations to be had about some Metal fans having bad views on minority groups more than other genre fans (Look up the time the band Absu kicked the guitarist that gave them their entire sound for being trans) but like Finn McKunty is just using this as a cynical ploy to attack people he doesn’t like.
I don't disagree that conversations about marginalization have a place in any space. But to say that metal is more anti-minority than other genres seems odd to me. Do you have a source for this claim? Admittedly I'm not super deep into other genres, so I wouldn't be able to tell you one way or the other. I just haven't seen evidence of that being the case. The Absu thing certainly seems fucked up, as someone that never dove too deep into it. But do you think that's representative of the genre as a whole? Do you think other genres don't have transphobic artists? I'm just speaking my gut feeling, no evidence to support the claim, but I find it very hard to believe that country music has less phobic dumbasses. And yeah, you're spot on with your assessment of Finn.
@@Pogoc7 You do realize I’m responding to pretty overt smugness, right? Also, metal isn’t losing fans. Shows have been getting more and more packed for decades at this point. Leave your basement every once in a while and you may see what I mean.
ANTI COSMIC METAL OF DEATH! DISSECTION🤘😜🤘,DONT FORGET IN AUTERNUM, DAWN, SACRAMENTUM, CARDINAL SIN, NAGELFAR, DEATHWITCH, EXCRETION, AND UNANIMATED 🤘😜🤘
4:19 "maybe it can be the thing that makes metal relevant again". Dude.. why can't u just listen to modern metal? Ppl didn't stopped making heavy metal in 2004. We have good stoner bands, 2023 was the year of death metal. There r at least 30 good death metal albums from last year. We have good black metal and we have modern bands that play traditional heavy metal. If u think that's irrelevant today just stop listening to heavy metal, listen to trap instead. Jesus. The state or modern metal is exactly like it was in the 70s. Music for true fans. Big companies won't milk it any longer like they did in the 80s and 90s. That doesn't mean it's no longer alive. I heard ppl who were metalheads in the 80s say that they listen to more metal today than they did in the back 80s.
I had a similar experience, except I was an orphan and grew up in the system in the south. You'd be surprised how many of those institutions are Christian Indoctrination Camps. It took me until around 28 yrs old to ever open up to listening to death metal. Everything you said about Dawn of Possession is how I feel about Close to a World Below by Immolation. Here are my favorite Death Metal Albums: Death- The Sound of Perseverance Suffocation- Pierced From Within Morbid Angel-Covenant Deicide- Legion Hypocrisy- Abducted Nile- Annihilation of the Wicked Immolation- Close to a World Below Bloodbath- Nightmares Made Flesh In Flames- The Jester Race Cannibal Corpse- Kill
When Finn is saying these things, he’s actually just projecting his own biases. Metal fans are racist, yet you have no evidence, and just assume? Mate, you’re the only one having racist thoughts. Finn projects, and is the least self aware person on the internet
👿🔱😈..the band making what i would say is NIGHTMARE FUEL is Akhlys/ melinoe... And in my opinion they are making something darker and better than most metal bands out ...i can only take so much really fast guitars and DOUBLE DRUMMING 😳... So many metal bands are stuck there and cant do anything else 🙄..
😈🔱👿...i keep coming back to this genre..thank u for giving me some info on bands i should check out.. 1 critique though you can't read the names of the bands and you can't always understand what you're saying so perhaps add the band names in easily read form in the video...👍
Got a source for that first claim? I doubt it, since it’s untrue. Metal musicians love to experiment and hybridize, so of course you may be able to find some random niche example (could point to a small handfull of nu metal bands), but to say metal and rap are “intertwined” genres is laughable. Hardcore is a punk subgenre - but you’re closer to the truth there. Unlike with rappers and hip hop groups, having hardcore bands at metal shows/fests is not uncommon.
To be fair, genre's bridge all the time. What is indusial music? Is it metal or is it electonic? I picked up that hes saying it's the future of mainstream metal, though I would say modern metalcore and deathcore is still pretty popular. So all in all, I would say yes, trap metal and the metal/deathcore scene are the biggest acts in metal, but trap metal is both metal and rap
Blake Judd can suck a dick, before I knew anything about him or his scams, he ran a Leviathan record "repress" scam where he just ran away with everyone's money, some people got shitty bootlegs but he just waited out paypal's refund time with "sorry they are delayed" updates every couple months, I only realized way after the refund timeline. Fuck that guy
Hey man I see you liked/replied to a bunch of recent comments, just wanted to know if you’re still making videos? Love the format/content and it’s a bummer you only have so few videos ☹️
Dude, thanks. I really appreciate the interest and the kind words. I’m actually typing up a script as we speak. I hate that it’s been so long since I’ve uploaded, as I really had fun making the videos I’ve posted so far. Unfortunately life through several curveballs at me since the last upload. I had to move a couple times, and in a terrible technical failure I lost my script and basically all backups that I had been working on for almost a year. Biggest kick in the dick ever. I am definitely continuing to make videos for the foreseeable future. But unfortunately I can’t really promise I’ll be putting out the next one any time soon. It’s going to cover my take on the history of death metal from Possessed and the thrash that inspired it, to today. I want to get into the zeitgeists of certain times, the births of the various subgenres, and obviously important bands. But thanks a ton for your comment. It seriously means a lot. I’ve been feeling so crushed since losing over half a year’s worth of progress. If even one person watches and gets a kick out of it, then my time isn’t being wasted.
@@eddymetal Seriously that fucking sucks man, definitely take your time and if you aren’t having fun doing it, then don’t feel obligated to finish either! I’ll definitely be there when you drop the vid on possessed whenever that is! Best of luck going forward 🫡
