Hi, I'm George Vlad and I travel the world listening for rare sounds and soundscapes to record. I'm very interested in wildlife and conservation issues and I go to great lengths to find (yet) unspoiled nature where man hasn't wreaked havoc. The depth and visceral effects of the hyenas is something that I have never experienced in a Nat Geo documentary or any other company specializing in African wildlife. It should be noted that this recording is for the city dweller the closest thing to experiencing, as the title rightly states, the "raw" ambiance of wilderness (be it only audio). Many thanks for this amazing recording!
It just dawned on me - do you maybe have gps/google maps coordinates to the location? That would be actually amazing - maybe even include it in video description. It would really give the dimension to the recording, to explore the map while listening
Funny, as I already know from listening that it is recorded on SO2. They sounds like mikrousi but with less high-freq noise. I love those mics. Great recording as always George!
Hey, I'm looking to get them as my first microphone for field recording, paired with the zoom f3. Would you recommend them for recording nature sounds? :)
Hey, George. I love your content so much, as it's majority audio, and as a blind viewer, I obviously don't need the visuals. An idea for a future video like this though: Would you consider making chapters, or leaving time stamps in the description of which animals are where? I don't mind at all in the soundscapes, but for videos like this, which have specific visual and audio focus on specific animals at various points, it would be so helpful to know what I'm hearing. 😊😊
I bought the HC-15 for my nature recordings also and have found it to be very nice indeed. I"m looking to possibly getting a matched pair of the Rycote CA-08 sometime in the future. Thanks for the video.
Gorgeous, lush soundscape George. Fantastic balance between foreground and background, with the different species cutting through in their patch of the spectrum. I particularly enjoyed around the 25 minute mark, it's fairly busy but there's excellent clarity between species.
