Thanks my friend. In Sequoia national park right now grabbing my permit… getting on trail early tomorrow for 6 days on the HST ending on Whitney and down to the portal
Wow, absolutely beautiful. That heat didn't make the hike any easier. I have been wanting to revisit that area since 2014, I will have to look up that hike. I am looking forward to your HST. ❤😊
@@anitasimmons3599 hey yeah the heat made it especially tough although a slight breeze began once I got up at the Ashram. Yeah you should definitely go there if you can. Very near where you go up to the Whitney portal. Thx in terms of the HST. Yeah I’m getting on trail early tomorrow for 6 days ending in the 29th. Daily videos will follow of course. I want to take my time on them to do them justice
@@wolfeadventures thanks brotha I appreciate that. Getting on trail in the am. Will let you know how it went after. Will be u your way before you know it!
I like how you did this video at your storage unit! Also, it's great to see how you have your hiking needs planned out. I know you've done videos before on what you take to eat on hikes. I hope you plan to do one for this hike as well. Looking forward to seeing the adventure!
Hey thanks and yeah if I didn’t live in my car I’d be able to make them where I live but can’t currently do that. I plan on doing a gear and food/resupply video for the JMT soon so look for that one
Very cool, my adult son and I are starting the JMT NOBO on 8/14. I’m an experienced backpacker, but haven’t done more than a week at a time. After a recent shake down hike, I just plopped down $400 on a carbon fiber bear can and decided to use my 25 degree quilt and not my 10 degree, etc.
Those are wise purchases… I’ve been eyeing that same bearakade canister but it’s a lot of $. I’ll be starting 8/17 nobo from cottonwood pass how about you. Not sure how big of miles you will be doing but maybe I’ll catch up and meet you?
First time using them but have really liked them a lot on my training day hikes so far… just have t been happy with the last few lone peaks. They keep changing them and screwing them up….
@@mountaincat8 hey there great hearing from you again. I made a video months back of all my summer plans but starting the High Sierra Trail middle of next week ending on Mount Whitney. Should take 6 days. Around the middle of August I’ll be doing the JMT nobo to Yosemite. I’m planning on doing it in 16 hiking days and one zero at VVR. I’ve basically done almost the entire JMT when I went through there on the PCT except for a few miles here and there. Going with some friends so it should be fun plus I get to get on top of Whitney a second time this summer and 3 overall so it should be epic. Hope you will come along for the journey!
@@marnieandnoelle thank you… I would wear black if the heat wave was still going on but at looking at the projected temps it’s supposed to be cooler up at higher elevation so black should work. I like black as well….
Thanks for the review. This is exactly what I was looking for. I am 6 foot four and have decided that the one person tents are entirely too small for a through hike. Just sucks that these DCF tents are so ungodly expensive.
Wow great video. I purchase my rolled or steel cut oats , chia seeds, flax seeds and cinnamon there as well as frozen vegies to dehydrate. They also have gluten free options , I love BoBo's, but the sugar is a little high😢. Thank you for cre creating this video. ❤😊
❤😊, Thank you for another informative video. Bummer about coffee. I have a gluten intolerance and have to limit the amount of sugar in my food. It is really hard to get enough calories in foods that you can eat day in and day out. Fortunately beans and rice make a full protein and can be flavored 100s of different ways. Parboiled rice and dried beans are inexpensive and easy to come by. I have owned a food dehydrator since 1974 and am still using the same one to dehydrate vegies, jerky, both meats and tofu. You can also purchase dehydrated and freeze dried ingredients from online to mix up your own meals cheaper than purchasing meals. I like Harmony House, but you can get dehydrated pinto beans from Walmart in 5 gallon buckets, or bean flakes from most whole foods stores, or any Hispanic grocery store. Fortunately for me I can eat rolled oats, chai seeds, flaxseed, with nuts and dry fruit and cinnamon cold soaked overnight or hot soaked while I pack up in the morning everyday of the year. Finally, public transportation can be used to get from trail to town and back in a few place's along the PCT, and some other backpacking trails. Thank you again for taking the time to answer subscribers questions. ❤😊
Honestly I’ll be on the high sierra trail next Wednesday and I don’t feel I’m ready. I’ll do fine but will suffer getting my trail legs. My plan for the last few months was to ramp up the distance and difficulty but we’ve had a crazy hot heat wave for the last month which has made it VERY dangerous to hike very far or hard. People are dying on trail here so it’s been shorter hikes for me
Hey thank you, this one wasn’t that pretty but the views at the top were great… also because of our heat wave it’s been too dangerous to get out there for more than a few hours but still getting out there when I can. Thanks for watching
I’m not sure why you don’t get a 3rd row suv, that’s bigger so you get an extra 15-20 inches of length in back. I’m only 5 foot 9 and did the equinox living. It was def doable, but my next vehicle will be a 3rd row suv, gain that extra room.
That’s a very good idea… honestly I’m eyeing to move into van life so this car works for me for now. Also I do doordash as my secondary job so having something a bit smaller is better on the mileage… thanks for the great idea and for watching!
@@MarmaladeOutdoorsI was gonna do a sprinter van or big van, but decided everyone will know your living in there. I just think a suv is the most stealth way to go, be nice to have the extra room of a sprinter, but I wanna park anywhere .. enjoy the content
I have camped and lived out of vehicles part time for years and I can tell you smaller cars, SUVs and minivans have the best stealth. The class b van is definitely not stealth and has poor fuel economy. I just enjoy the smaller platforms more than the extra space and convenience of the full sized van. Maybe when I am older... The smaller vehicles also keep me flexible and in better physical trim. Just something to think about...
@@anitasimmons3599 could not agree more. Suv or smaller is just flat out stealth. Would like to have the room of a high top…but I’ve learned I don’t need it
This was so interesting ! Thanks for sharing. I need to go back to your past videos to see what kind of work you mention doing in this video. You are proving that a person can live well while also living very frugally. Love it!
Thanks so much and yes… it’s the way I can save up all year to go on my backpacking and road trip adventures… where I live the rent prices are insane. Thanks for watching!
i removed all seats except drivers seat. Its another world...i could build a bed drawers and storage compartments...almost like an rv just in mini format. Yeah if you can remove the seats its great! Your setup would never work for me is so messy sorry....I have a golf style car so its a fairly small car. You have to be very organized or it will be a living hell. Also you need good ventilation....that means making a hole and fitting an exhaust fan in the roof!
You seem to have everything you need without a lot of "build out" in your car. I think that staying close to stores, restrooms, restaurants, libraries and other "cool off" places is key to protecting your health in this kind of heat. I would be one to be visiting different locations throughout the day in order to stay cool. Leisurely grocery shopping, reading books or using the computer in the library, visiting the gym or "Y" (with a pool!), visiting my air conditioned storage unit to re-supply my needs, and maybe just going to the mall to people watch would all be key to staying out of the heat for me. When I lost electric for 6 days in the middle of summer in Florida I thought I would die. It affects not only the body but the emotions. And it's not an old wives tale that iced tea, melons and cucumbers (which is also a melon) keep us more comfortable in hot weather. Thank you for your video!
Hey thank you for that and yes there are ways to beat the heat and have a productive enjoyable life living out of your car/van and as you said beat the heat and be comfortable. Im lucky because although we’re having a heat wave now we generally have very good temperate weather here in San Diego. It definitely makes this lifestyle easier and more enjoyable. Thanks so much for the positive message and have a great day!
@@MarmaladeOutdoors I'm from San Diego, and grew up out by Lemon Grove. I miss it so much, that when I see a video of the area, I almost cry. Thank you for your response.
@@jck197 it’s called that online on the gentleman’s website but he shut it down about a year ago. If I knew he was closing his business I would of bought a few more
