Whirlpool had one of the biggest fall offs that I know of. Whirlpool used to be praised for how good and reliable their direct drive washers were. They were some of the best in the market at the time, but just like a lot of other big appliance companies, they have dropped in quality. My grandparents bought this exact model in February after their 2017 Maytag died. After watching this video and another video of a similar model to this breaking down, I now fear that it won't last a year.
I had a similar washer to this from 2003-2022. It was a Maytag Atlantis and the transmission went out on it one morning. My parents replaced it with one of those removable agitator washers.

$24 for a Pizza, way to expensive. Thats the price of two sirloin steak dinners at Longhorn steakhouse, Two Costco pizza's and two hot dogs, 6 Wendy's 4 for $4 meals, or two large pizzas at Pizza Hut or Marco's Pizza. Other than that I love riding in a Lincoln Town Car. Very classy and comfortable. 😊
@sherryjohnson1206 I just picked glass packs. It was probably the type of dual exhaust you can get in the 50's. That or no mufflers at all. Turbo mufflers have a little sound that are not too loud. They have all types to choose from.
While shaded pole motor draws more current than permanent split capacitor Original, they have lower power factor. 2.5 amp Original is about 150 watt on high, 1.1 amp Original is about 130 watt on high, and it's slower enough that 1.1 amp Original is actually less energy efficient than 2.5 amp Original.
Speed Queen tc5 time! I preferred the whirlpool 5620 front load washer, and although its getting moldy (primarily in the detergent cup) due to lack of clean up, it still works after the initial buy in October 2020.
Good luck with the warranty work... My mom bought a fancer higher end whirlpool top loader, also has the removeable agitator. Junk doesn't clean the clothes. Despite deep water wash set it barely uses water, and it barely even spins. Items come out with soap still on them. 5 people have already came by for warranty each time replacing something, Still doesnt wash well after over a year. I have a more basic Whirlpool new in 2022. So far no issues.. YET.

I know quality has slipped tremendously, but I can't even imagine it would get this bad where it dies in less than a month. I'm hoping this was either just a fluke or the motor had just barely passed "quality" control.
Damn. This is why as soon as I saw Harley’s rant video about modern washers and dryers back in 2014, it was time to stock up on vintage machines. Since I have two sets (the 1963 Whirlpool set, mid 1970’s Maytag 806 set) that get switched around from time to time, shouldn’t have to but another set for a long, long time. Now, it’ll be time to stock up on classic vehicles, too.
I bought a Speed Queen TC5 washer and a Speed Queen DC5 electric dryer from Hansbarger Home Solutions Greenville Ohio in November 2022. They replaced a piece of junk Maytag Bravos XL set. The SQ TC5/DC5 set are the closest things to a Maytag set from the late 1980s! They wash and dry exceptionally well! PS: Stay away from the Speed Queen TR/DR series washers and dryers! The washers can’t clean worth a darn and the dryers burn laundry!
I have several suggestions: 1. Use the Bulky/Bedding Cycle on your washer. This cycle uses the most water. 2. Use the Extra Rinse Option/2nd Rinse Option on your washer. This setting makes laundry even cleaner and removes soap residue. 3. Use Warm or Hot wash water. Use Cold rinse water. 4. Add 1/2 cup (4 ounces) of baking soda to the wash water along with your detergent. The baking soda softens the water and deodorizes your laundry. 5. Add 1/2 cup of 5% acidity white vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser or to the final rinse cycle. The 5% acidity white vinegar softens your laundry and dissolves soap residue. 6. Use wool dryer balls in your dryer. The wool dryer balls fluffs your laundry and reduces drying time. Good Luck! PS: I suggest using a Downy Ball! They are sold at the grocery store!
Bro, I remember that set from you earlier videos from way back at your old house. These nearly reached 20 years and I can say that a record as the quality of most appliances from that time was starting to go downhill.
thats because the washer has nylon gears in it and they strip and crack over time the speed queens have metal gears and will last years i sell them at the family shop they out sell most of the other brands i sell
