It'll depend on the mix and conditions/temps too. Best to do a test mix and play around with the air pressure and spray settings on a test area before hitting the vehicle with it.
Any information out there on painting OVER Bullyliner. That is, a tutorial on what paint, prep used for painting OVER the liner once you are finished with the Bullyliner job. Say...when you want some other color. Thanks, I want the protection and effect but in white (OR) an Acrylic metalic color. Wondering how that texture will look when combined with a metallic finished coat. Thanks! I called the company and they said they did not produce white as yet.

This is a video from 2020. Due to COVID in WA there were travel restrictions within the country and within the states. At the time you needed a special permit to leave your region.
The car was sold a couple of years ago, but we've seen it driving around and it still looks good even though it's now a bush basher at a remote community! Yes approx 8L to do the whole vehicle, but it was cutting it close. Could have used an extra 1-2L to get everything coated thoroughly.
I just set my 270 up today for the first I noticed that gap between the rear and the awning but if you listen all bolts on the awning and slightly shifted back so it's a line with the roof it will set a lot closer good idea it is
Hi just set mine up first time, thought I'd let you know the front flap can slide off & be slid onto the back to cover the gap, I also have a troopy 😊 Thanks for your vid 👍
Glad it was helpful! For some people these awnings are good value and will be well used - but definitely worth keeping the pros/cons in mind before sinking cash and time into getting one.
Never missed it... but if it was up to us we'd have a whole workshop filled with tools to use on the off season when we're not travelling. It's the future plan!
Just a cheap generic one that came with the bedliner canisters as a kit. It wasn't amazing but it did the job. Had to play around with the compressor pressure settings a bit to get it dialled in.
Nice video! I'm using the same gun, grey bully liner at 90 psi but the paint is splitting bulk paint. Not as smooth as yours. I checked the paint from the bottle they are shaken and smooth. Not sure what is the reason. 😟
Hrm, could be a bad nozzle/gun, not enough constant pressure, not mixed enough, bad batch, too warm/cool..? We sprayed in on warm, dry days around 28-30 degrees C and low humidity. Give the guys at Bully a call and see what they can suggest. It's usually really easy to apply, so there's definitely something weird going on! Let us know how you get on with it.
thanks for that mate,we are thinking of getting one but really did want a small setup.Looking at the F40van but not sure it suited to sprinter anyway you have made me think more about the subject for sure-like the idea of the simple slide in track fabric but how i would reach is another thing.
Yeah it's pretty tricky with a big high roof van! We carry a 2m telescopic ladder in our van for cleaning the roof and solar panels. Might be a solution? Keep it simple.
Yes spot on. It's a good mid range awning and have one myself and use it regularly on the south west coast where it is very windy. As with anything canvas it has its limits and I have been caught out in strong winds in the early hours packing it away in the dark before the Troopy is blown away. No matter what awning you use it will flap around and shake your vehicle in heavy winds and that makes it very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Also it does help if you are 6'8" when packing it away on a Troopy.
Considered we've custom designed and built out a number of adventure vehicles, we definitely aren't afraid to mod and customise things.. We just cant visualise how your concept would actually work without the design of it. Happy to look at some example photos or CAD models if you have seen any.
@@ComfortablyLost I work in film production. We use pop ups and awnings regularly. Many times we make alterations to strengthen weak designs. We just use our brains and creativity. No CAD is needed.
It's called "perforated one way vision window film". We bought a 2m roll of it from an online seller on ebay, made a template and then applied it ourselves. Trim the excess with a new razor blade and also spray some detergent/water mix onto the clean glass first so you can move it around before it dries and stays stuck. It's a lot easier to work with than it sounds. Works great! After 5 years it's still 99% intact with only a few imperfections from being scratched. We will probably peel it off and put a new window cling on there next year to freshen it up. Hope this helps!
Hey. Thanks for sharing and documenting. Very cool results. I’m looking at this product for my front and rear bars. Great to see the application process and results. Thanks also for the hints and tips.
Our van is 2WD/RWD. Up until recent years MB didn't sell the 4x4 version of the Sprinter in Australia. The only way you could get them was via aftermarket 2WD>4WD conversions which were fairly fraught with issues and costs. Our RWD gets us everywhere we want to go with it.. for the places the van doesn't go, we went there with our Landcruiser Troopy instead! Check our other videos for a tour of that one.
Glad to help. The longer we go (over 5 years now) the less we think we'd bother with a fixed awning if we did it again. They're nice and all, but definitely an expense you can live without if you have a larger van. With a smaller van it's a different story.
Haha. We said the same thing. But he did the right thing and got the new colour updated with the DoT and got proper insurance too. Never had any issues with the police - but being a small country town helps! They leave you alone.
Any time we have brake caliper lock up on sprinter van I would replace the slider pins as the plastic guide on the steel slider (one plastic guide on each side top side ) wear hence the caliber is not being pushed out square with the disc which cause it to lock up
Store bought. They're sold in most local bike shops and also online. Search "bicycle fork mount". You can also buy ones for thru axle style forks, a little more expensive.
Thanks for the video. In the instructions for this is states that for a 'smart alternator', the negative going into the charger needs to be connected to the vehicle side of the 'battery sense module'. Is it just to the negative on the Start Battery or does it need to be elsewhere?
Yep, just needs to be attached to the neg terminal on the starter battery. I also had the same confusion and had to email Enerdrive for clarification. Could use some clearer wording for sure!
Glad it helped. Not quite the fancy video we usually like to upload, but filming it was an afterthought when we realised that there wasn't much on YT at the time detailing this little fix.
Just keep in mind the Fiamma awnings bolt directly to the roof, so if you attach insulation, cladding etc on your roof it may be difficult to install the awning later on.
Lovely build, thanks for sharing. I'm just about to do something similar to my 2015 berlingo. I was wondering, how did you navigate the foot wells on the floor behind the front seats when installing your frame? They floor seems quite flimsy there as there is a covered floor storage compartment and inside that is also quite flimsy. Does your car have those? If so, how did you create a firm floor base to support your bed frame in that area please? 😊
Looks great. I'm currently doing my 22' Class C RV in Bullyliner Dust Grey which I think is a bit lighter than the Storm. I'm quite amazed and pleased at how easy this product is to work with and how cool it looks.
