You did something wrong if Alder beats Cynthia. Garchomp is sweeping half of his entire team without swords dance with STAB earthquake, Milotic is a hard counter to volcarona and chandelure, Spiritomb and Porygon for reuniclus, etc... A good team with a bad AI is going to produce bad results.
Bugsy having a good matchup vs sada actually makes a decent sense. Her team is fairly weak to bugs. I don't know how often mons are switching in this but if he saved scizor for fluttermane and yanmega for roaring moon he could basically always win.
Even without saving scizor I would imagine why he's able to win like half of the time is he's just able to go like 2/3 for one on fluttermane and and as long as yanmegas sash is saved for roaring moon he's safe
I agree ursaluna. It wound up being the MVP when facing dialga and the final boss. It took out 3 of the final boss's Pokemon including garchomp. Honorable mention for infernape. Infernape was invaluable against the last 2 noble Pokemon battles
I’d probably say Flamigo for SV. 115 base attack before you even get to Mezagoza, destroys 4 of the first 5 key battles in the game (2 gyms, Team Star’s dark base and Klawf) and is still strong in the mid to late game, especially late game against Eri, Grusha and the paradox titan. But Armarouge and especially Ceruledge are insane too
While pikachu is dogwater in the original yellow Yellow does give you the three starters as you go by, with the 3 being extremely solid top tier pokemons for gen 3 for their respective typings.
It’s actually insane just how atrocious the gameplay is with the metric ASSLOAD of increased poison, confusion & accuracy lowering spam. Like, holy shit, there’s no fucking reason why I should legitimately have to keep restocking a 99 stack of full heals. This is fucking unreal. I’d rather just play base Gen 1 at this point.
I agree that gen 2 Alakazam is slightly better than Gengar, and it's because Alakazam gets special STAB while Gengar does not. Gengar is like a ghost type Alakazam in stat distribution, but before the physical/special split its damage output was lower without STAB to use its high special attack.
I love how you removed some npc dialogues midway through😂 like a girl beside the falcon gym saying you will get a "prime time if you win" or a lass in whitney gym wondering whos stronger in the world of pokemon "male or female" incel romhack😂
U forgot Gen 3 Butterfree in FR/LG, not many know it, but Butterfree can learn Dream Eater, even thu its not listed on Bulba, with its hidden ability Compound eyes, Sleep Powder has 97.5% hit chance, far surpassing any other sleep without a drawback. And Dream Eater is a very powerfull move, cept the enemy has to be asleep, which its no problem for gen 3 Butterfree.
Bulbapedia does list Dream Eater as a move for Butterfree. It is a tutor move. The NPC for is also in Kanto, so for most of the game, Butterfree won't have the move.
Alakazam in emerald is terrible tbh. Only shockwave as coverage move, and dark pokemon spam everywhere. Only super effective against 1 gym, which is super easy anyway. Has problems against anything it can't oneshot because how frail it is, and is hard to switch in. Swampert is without a doubt the best pokemon in RSE. It can more or less solo everything, and it's typing is only weak to grass (which gotta be one of the least used types by opponents in rse). Swellow is very good as well. Pellipper feels like the most overlooked mons, since it can deal with so many threats thoughout the game, and you get it before the first gym. Absol is a monster as well, swords dance, and then destroy everything with shadow ball or return. Only drawback is that you get it kinda late compared to mons mentioned above.
Calling a Pokemon with 135 special attack and 120 speed that you can get by the second gym terrible is certainly a take. It kind of doesn't matter that it is frail and that only one gym is weak to Psychic, when it outspeeds everything and its STAB Psychic is crazy powerful. Its neutral attacks are strong enough to basically OHKO everything. The only common Dark types are the Mightyena and Sharpedo line, and Alakazam really doesn't struggle with them. Mightyena sucks and is 2HKOed by Shock Wave and Sharpedo is OHKOed. Swampert is good but it isn't better than Alakazam. It is the slowest starter and also has the lowest special attack out of all of them. Of course its typing is amazing but it will likely need the Earthquake TM because it learns the move really late (level 52). Otherwise its best Ground STAB move for most of the game will be Mud Shot. Meh. And its Surfs from base 85 special attack don't hit nearly as hard as Alakazam's Psychics from base 135 special attack. Swampert is of course still one of the best Pokemon in the game, though. Just not stronger than Alakazam.
@@ThePe5e I can see how it comes out unclear what I meant, it's relatively speaking compared to gen 1 and 2 where it was a beast. With it's stats it should plow through everything, but it just doesn't. Magneton, torkoal, slaking, altaria, lunatone/solrock. Its match ups in the important fights just isn't good imo. It's by no means bad, when I read my original comment I can see how it comes off like that. But I think there is a case to be made for several other pokemons for sure. Not because alakazam is a bad pokemon, but because of the match ups in rse specifically. It's just a wierd mon in those games. Teambuilding wise it doesn't really fit in anywhere, because of it's typing, and lack of coverage. While it's a strong pokemon on it's own, it doesn't really fill any niche in RSE, making it akward to use imo. Unless you grind the game corner or overlevel, you don't have psychic before the 7th gym, which is properly the worst gym for alakazam to shine. Then you have the e4 with not a single good matchup for it, and 2 bad ones (ghost and dark). So let me rephrase it. Alakazam is by no means a bad pokemon, but I don't think it deserves a top spot in RSE due to too many bad match ups against important trainers, and there will often be better options available when teambuilding against the different opponents you will be facing.
@@Vigsoe14 But Alakazam does pretty much sweep through everything. The matchup issues you side aren't even bad for it. Magneton is pretty much a neutral matchup as Psybeam does the same to it as Magneton's Shock Wave or Sonic Boom do to Alakazam. Toroal is just a good matchup for Alakazam. Psybeam is likely a 2HKO. And even if it isn't, Overheat does not kill from full, and Alakazam has Recover by this point. Even in sun, Overheat is only a roll to kill from full HP. It also has Reflect to make Body Slam weaker. Slaking is also no problem, as with Reflect up, neither Facade or Feint Attack do more than 50%, while Alakazam has Recover and Disable, and also threatens a 3HKO. Altaria is super easy for Alakazm. Altaria is so weak that an unboosted Earthquake or Aerial Ace doesn't even 2HKO it. You don't even need Reflect for this fight. Psychic has a chance for a 2HKO. Lunatone and Solrock are also hilariously helpless against Alakazam. Their weak special attacks just bounce off. It has learned Calm Mind by this point too. Claydol is more threatening than those too. But Reflect makes its Earthquake weak yet again if you don't have your partner take care of it. Alakazam just sets up with Calm Mind and blasts through the resists. Alakazam doesn't do amazing against the Elite Four, that is true. Sidney and Phoebe are probably its only true bad matchups. But it can still sweep Glacia and to an extent Drake. I don't really understand what you mean with Alakazm having no role to fill? It is a fast and powerful special sweeper and revenge killer. That is a role that every team likes to have covered. It is also rather easy to have enough money for the Psychic TM of the Game Corner after gym 4. You don't have to grind for anything here. If you skip a few trainers then after gym 5. So the summary is, it doesn't really matter that Psychic doesn't have many super effective targets against major trainers. Neutral STAB Psychic from Alakazm is plenty powerful and sweeps most major enemies despite no super effective damage boost. And route trainers obviously get destroyed. Shock Wave and maybe Thief are all the coverage it needs to kill everything that Psychic doesn't. Alakazam has the stats, moves and speed to run through most of the game by itself.
I know this video ignores starters, but Mudkip is so overpowered it actually angers me. It trivialises the entire game so hard that it's a very different experience. On the other hand, Chikorita is so comically unusable that if Gen 2 with Chikorita were your first Pokémon game, it would undoubtedly also be your last.
I feel like early Arcanine deserves at least a mention for sword and shield as you can get it before you even leave the wild area depending on weather (and you can pick up the fire stone in the high level area as long as you dodge some encounters)
Manectric > Everything (except Swampert) in RSE and also even with a BIT worse early Gardevoir clears Zam with ease especially if you get Hypnosis at 52 for potentially easier setup. Also if you wanna setup on physical side, in Ruby get Zangoose (Keep swords dance on him) teach him shadow ball, boom you can break thru Phoebe with ease and 1 full restore to use and if Sapphire u need 2 full restores + Belly Drum Linoone and in Emerald you just belly drum as Phoebe's Dusclops protects and u can sweep her. Glacia and Drake also fall for this btw as they usually start of with a status move with Wallace u can teach Sunny Day to Linoone to deny Rain Dance.
hi, Where do you report potential bugs? i think ive found something where double team increases attack .....my Venomoth and Scyther are broken being able to take down rematched Brocks pokemon in OHKOs using Sludge and Wing Attack, both being non effective. Fantastic game thanks for making!
