This channel is dedicated soley to the physical building of the Starship USS Enterprise as we saw it in the 1960's TV show that many of us grew up with and fell in love with. No bloody A, B, C or D, as Mr Scott said. With your help and support I can boldly build what no man has ever built before. I saw my first episode of Star Trek when I was just 6 years old and it has been a passion of mine all these decades. I'm now 58 and the original Enterprise feels like my home. I welcome you aboard my five year mission to build the interior of this ship as a physical model (no computer 3D) and I'll be posting regular videos of my progress through this epic mission.

Wow would it be great if Elon musk could do this for real But Elon is doing small steps and leaps so far what we need is another Physicists as bright as Einstein to work out Faster than light travel
It's really taking shape. Just incredible. Are you planning on building in any systems infrastructure such as eps, fluids, air-conditioning? Or will we just assume it's channelled through the structural sections?
But we never saw any lighting on those sets other than grey, and the uniforms were all grey too, and the view out of the windows was black. I'd be swilling down my anti-depressants with a large whisky for sure.
One of the things that always bugged me about the TNG Enterprise was its size. We all knew it was enormous, but the show never really took advantage of that. We only ever saw a few corridors, the bridge and maybe the shuttle bay. But It felt like a wasted opportunity for them to have done some really cool interior things with the show. That's what I love about this project you're doing, it shows the scale of this ship and we have a much greater appreciation for.
@@mrtrek2117 The _Star Trek V: The Final Frontier_ interior (especially reusing TNG sets - and let's pretend they really are 1701-A interiors) is the oddball of the refits, do you feel the same about it?
I have to ask, does the sheer scope of your project ever become overwhelming to you? It just strikes me as, daunting I guess, looking at all you've created, but imagining what yet must be done, and then all your work in the intermediary stages, how do you maintain your energy and enthusiasm? Remarkable
Thanks for the question, it is indeed an insane undertaking to build the entire USS Enterprise but it's my full time work and I love every minute of it. Now, as more support comes in I am just fired up and embrace the community, support and the epic, crazy and fun challenge ahead!
Well we all know that the real reason was for filming aesthetics and absolutely nothing to do with reality, then it became clear that the model exterior didn't fit with the interior. In the sci-fi universe maybe space engineers see things differently because in space there is no forwards, backwards, up or down.
Actually, I’m in favor of a turn table. The reason is because this shuttle would occasionally have be flown for evacuation drills, similar to what is done on a modern life boat drill. The turn table would be used after the shuttle returns.
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure other people have said something, but can't you also use wires to hold up the saucer instead of using metal or wood supports from below? There is so much I love about this. Also, the bridge ladder. You could still use it, but it would have to be more like steps and not so much a ladder, with a ramp added like what you have at the back of the ship. I hope you accomplish the 5-year mission and are able to recoup all your material costs and then some. Live Long and Prosper.
Wow, what a project! Respectfully, it's harder to understand you since the microphone is across the room on your camera. You could use one of those portable blue tooth microphones and clip it to your shirt. :)
Just discovered your channel and build! Fantastic! Would you be able to show off the warp nacelle interior build at all? I’m actually recreating this Enterprise in Doom 2 and it’s the one area I can’t find decent reference images for. I can find plenty for the actual warp coils, but it’s the access routes for the crew that’s been hard to find. Even if you can’t show off the nacelles details, I commend you on such an awesome build!!!! It’s looking amazing!!!!
I tried once in 1982 to build a model of the Movie era bridge out of cardboard. It was a very interesting task in which i was getting my first skills for modelling.
Not only is it a fictional ship, the bridge that we all know and love is actually a set for a TV show! Those priorities came first and foremost in terms of camera angles, lighting access, actor positioning, etc over any concerns about direction of travel or defensive considerations. Still it would be great entertainment to see "forward-facing" vs "offset" panels of experts debate this over beers. I'm sure the discussion would get very passionate!
If I was found in the era of Star Trek and got a hold of a constitution class ship myself. I would love to put a Firemans pole from the top to the bottom of that I know it would be suicidal, but you gotta be tempted. The idea of the landing lake is actually Canon. It does seem unusual and doesn’t seem to be very good at loadbearing. . But truthfully, if they get a software of landing, it wouldn’t have to be there are some diagram showing what it’s supposed to look like when it happens out there. I agree the photon torpedo should be more plasma ball not unlike what the Romans were doing, except lower key
I'm 57 years young and have been a huge Star Trek fanatic since the early 70's. My favorite ship of all time is the Enterprise-E. It is to me, the most aesthetically beautiful and most advanced... however, i love them all.
