Until mid 80s we have spanish in schooI. Im lucky to have learned spanish, so i can understand spanish a bit. In Philippines we say Komusta and it's comostas in spañiol. And you can find native filipino foods in rural areas. In the developed cities you'll find different international foods.

The reason people visit Philippines just because the people of Philippines are sweet.

@Volpe...The rice that is wrapped in coconut leaves is called 'PUSO' in Cebuano language. It's only mostly found in Cebu. It is an innovation by Cebuanos for portability purposes because Cebuanos love to go on a picnic to the beach during weekends. Puso eliminates the need for plates and even rice pots as well as spoons and forks to the beach. Thus, you don't get burdened with heavy plates and utensils to and from the beach. With puso, you eat it like you do with the bread, only eat at your own bite size. Puso also makes the rice more hygienic as the rice is cooked inside the woven coconut leaves and is free from contamination. The rice inside the puso also doesn't spoil easily. In fact, it can still be edible after 24 hours without getting spoiled.

As a Filipino you could also try dishes such as sinigang, bulalo, adobo, sisig, kare-kare, menudo, afritada, kaldireta, lechon, and for the dessert try maja, halo-halo, bilo-bilo, taho, pichi-pichi, kutchinta, kalamay, and leche flan. You won’t regret trying these.

You gotta cut the salted egg a bit smaller and mix it with tomatoes and onions to neutralize the taste. I think what you tried is dried bacalao (salted). You have to dip it in vinegar with spices when you eat it. It’s the blend of saltiness if fish and tanginess of vinegar (plus spices) that makes it good. It’s also paired with rice.

That rice cube is wrapped in palm leaves. Salted eggs are usually eaten in very small pinches with plain rice. The saltiness is supposed to give some flavour to plain rice. Glad you enjoyed the food. Watching from down south in Borneo.

@Volpe...Everything grilled and fried in Cebu, always needs to be dipped in a simple concoction of vinegar, soy sauce, Philippine lime (kalamansi) and red hot chili. The proper ratio of dipping sauce for Cebuano grilled and fried foods is 2/3 part vinegar, 1/3 part soy sauce and to add some kick and enhance the flavor, squeeze in one kalamansi juice and crush the hot chili onto the mixture.

Just little fyi. For those going to try salted egg, you suppose to mixed with tamato and onion first and it eat with rice so it will mixed up well the saltiness.

I am from Kerala India ,we have that small chilly we called it "kandhari".

Came across with this video of yours. I saw that you ate the salted egg. I think the seller forgot to explain that it should be eaten with rice. It's a viand and technically you mix it with the tomatoes and onions and be eaten together with plain white rice or fried rice to appreciate the its taste The barbeque stuff is usually dipped with the vinegar with chilis and onions. In other versions of the dips, they sometimes put cucumber bits. You should try those as well. It would taste ecen better.

Eating salted egg for the first time makes me laugh HAHAHA!! You must eat that along side with tomato and onion. Don't eat salted egg solo HAHAHA. Usually here, you must eat that egg with rice also or vegies in order to blend and I'll promise you, you can appreciate the taste. Love from Philippines.

that salty egg is more delicouse if that was prepare properly anf in the right way.. they just put some tomatos and onions without putting vinegar small smg and little sugar to balance sa the salty taste.

they should've told you to mix the salted egg with some vinegar and soy sauce and eat it as a condiment...it goes really well to cut the fattiness of the grilled meat.

Loving your Philippines vlogs! Interesting to see the difference between Kolkata street food and Cebu and how they handle problems of flies etc better( in Kolkata no street food vendor had fans!) Similar climate and economies India and Philippines yet they seem more creative.

the salty egg is too salty but if you crushed it and mixed it with the tomatoes and the onion and add a little bit of the calamansi and vinegar to tone down the saltiness and add a little tickle of flavor it`ll be okay
