These days, “Not a smart TV” is more of a pro than a con in my view.

Yeah, I been looking at Sceptre because of the lack of spy, I mean smart features.

I guess there is a feature on this TV where it only last 1 year and 7 months? Then purple lines and hazes just pop in and out. Sceptre 50" Class 4K UHD LED TV U515CV-U. It's junk, bought in 2021. New tvs can't even last as long as the older ones they use to make. Just junk. I rather get a older TV that just goes up to 1080p and is quality.

Long as you aren't gaming with it, its a pretty solid TV. I feel like they put more money into the guts of the TV rather than fancy Smart TV junk. After having one for a year I bought another this year.

I wouldn't buy it. I had this TV it only lasted 1 year and 7 months. It went past a year, it's warranty. Now it has purple lines and distortion pop in and out on the screen then going back to normal. You shouldn't have to buy a warranty for a TV to at least last 5 years. The old TVs lasted 10 to 15 years. Sceptre 50" Class 4K UHD LED TV U515CV-U

I purchased the 43" version over 6 years ago for gaming specifically on my PS4 and now Xbox X and it's still works great and has a great picture! I did add some speakers, subwoofer and amplifier and my sound is awesome!

@@diydaveman Long as 30 FPS gaming is okay its not a deal breaker, but 60 FPS gaming is a much better experience on the eyes. For anyone reading: There is another issue, this TV is susceptible to strobing effects sometimes, like say when they do the wideshots of landscapes in Lord of the Rings. So far mine haven't broken, but I'm not a heavy TV user. Maybe an hour a day tops.
@diydaveman

@@lakecityransom hmm, I wonder if I would notice the difference. I am searching to move up to a 50" so I'll check the FPS rate before I purchase.

@@diydaveman Oh for sure it'll help. I'm spoiled with my 144hz computer monitors, but these days ppl go 240hz pretty commonly too. It just looks smoother and smoother the higher you go, but takes more processing power.

Here's also something. The remote drains batteries QUICKLY. Plus u have to face the remote a certain way to actually use it

What I mean is. The light on this TV. U have to make the remote face it to work

Walmart has this TV at at lower price, something really cool, quick question about the sound. For a regular person that only see TV shows and movies, do you think the sound is good enough? Or your commnet is from a professional level? Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot to make the choice.

Please don't buy it as my suggestion. I had this TV last 1 year and 7 months. Bought in 2021 from walmart. It now has purple hazes lines and distortion. Everything was tried, different HDMI cables, different cable boxes, a video game system. It doesn't matter which input. Tvs should at least last 5 years without a warranty. And now I'm warning everyone! Sceptre 50" Class 4K UHD LED TV U515CV-U. It's even a pain to find the Serial Number is because they put stickers on there without numbers. And you don't know if it's a S/N. Even supposedly if it was in warranty it's a pain to keep the box and you have to pay shipping on this $200 TV. I don't buy warranties, I want to buy good TVS!

Are you able to play and mpeg movies off of the USB input

By chance I saw this comment so quickly, so I tried it for ya... put .MP4 test video on a USB and plugged it in, but the Media input only shows music playback and image (slideshow) play, there is no video option.

It's three plugs which one do we use🤷
@nerdyneighbor

You could plug it into any of them. Then just use the "Source" or "Input" button on the remote to find the device you plugged into the TV.

Does it have hdr?
@BaawBee
@BaawBee Год назад
No, unfortunately. The 4k makes the image super clear but the lack of HDR leaves a lot to be desired for color. It would certainly benefit greatly if it had both

Although there are Sceptre tvs with both I just found out! I had this tv basically last only 1 year and 7 months. Sceptre 50" Class 4K UHD LED TV U515CV-U. And it is out of warranty. It has purple lines and hazes it shows on the screen go in and out and then back to a normal picture and then back to purple lines and hazes. Tried different cable boxes, tried different hdmi cables. The same result. Even tried the composite output for a video game system. Same problem. And it seems like a pain in the butt to get the serial number. Other tvs have labels for the numbers they have on the sticker. They will label it with S/N. Then they will tell you the model number with the label model number. This TV just has stickers claiming it's the version number. Then they have another sticker with a number on it. Not telling you if it's the S/N. Then when you google how to find S/N on Sceptre TVs you can't find an answer. Nothing in the manual states where to find the S/N. If people say oh you get what you pay for. Well, there is no proof spending more on a TV. That it is going to last 2 years even. So why spend more? If they make TVs worse than they did back then. I literally had tvs last 10 to 15 years. We shouldn't have to be buying warranties and just hoping it will at least last more than 5 years. Not the exact brand. But you get the idea that they can't make tvs last more than 2 to 5 years? Same company. Same concept. I guess I'll check tv repair communities.

@@cewchienectarcollector It's a pain in the butt to buy things now. And knowing that any product that is made in china might be a low quality brand. And knowing Roku has a monopoly on smart phone tvs.
