With asset forfeiture that’s not always drug money! You could have a large amount of money and they would confiscate it saying that it “may” be drug money! There are many cases when the police confiscated money that had nothing to do with drugs!

Most people don't know that a lot of the money taken in assets forfeitures is taken from innocent people just traveling with a larger then normal amount of cash.... Say your going to another state to purchase a car from a private person and your taking cash if you get pulled over and can't not prove where that money came from they will take it

civil asset forfeiture, oh yes that warrantless seizing of peoples cash. Not always drug money and lots of times no one gets charged with a crime yet loses their cash.

We were out on a foggy night had water police come up and crack the shots with us because we didn't come up on there sytem out on the water they thought we were dodgy lol

Forfeit asseture, is a great idea but unfortunately you should really look at how this law is abused by certain law enforcement agencies. Look it up. I was traveling to Florida to buy a used drag bike. I was pulled over because some officer wanted to rob me. I had a beautiful F350 dually and Atc trailer. And 10 grand cash on me. Thankfully I had the ad, the ebay transfer receipt for the down payment. They had no reason for pulling me over. They asked to look in my truck and trailer. I had nothing hide, I'm not a criminal. But when they saw I had cash on me they took it from me. Then asked me if it was from or for drugs. I spent 4 hours explaining that it was for a vehicle I was buying. I showed them all the paper work. They kept telling me that the paperwork I had was fake. They continued to tell me that they would have to keep the money under the forfeit asseture law because they didn't believe me and I would have to come back to court to get it back. Thankfully I was able to get through to the bank. And the bank manager helped me to get my money back. They made me feel completely helpless for those 4 hours. The worst part was when the other officers showed up for backup, I overheard them saying: " hey are we getting a new truck today." After that incident I lost a lot of respect for law enforcement. I looked up this law and found out that the number of times people were robbed by officers is far more frequent than you may think. That law needs to be altered for innocent people. And those officers that abuse that law should go to jail. I have nothing against decent and honest cops. They have a tough job, and using drug money to pay for the tools to fight crime is a great idea, but when innocent people get robbed of their belongings....well that just is not cool. Yeah, I still get PTSD like symptoms when I see cops on the highway. I'm still upset at the way that those guys treated me. If you're wondering if I'm white, no I am not. Awesome boat by the way.

Next thing you know they ask hey you woould happen to have drugs or weapons right? No officer any sensible human who isn't comitting a crime would answer' then they ask any large amounts of money you know 10.000 dollars or more us currency, unknowing you answer yess I do I have 10.001 dollars ' okay sir step in my car I'll ask you ssome questtioms you're not in trouble or under arrest: where are you coming from blah blah blah then do you mind if we run a dog over your money Sure the person ansswer I did nothing wrong why not? Dog sniffs alerts even tho there are no drugs in the car boom it's taken asset forfeiture they hand you a piece of paper with the amount even tho you did nothing wrong and boom this sherrifs office after doing that to let's say 100 peoplee boom new boat cars etc for the sherrifs. Office no need for city budgets none of that... Open your eyes y'all supporting something beyond unconstitutional but yea okay

do a little research on civil asset forfeiture and you wouldn't have such a smile thinking its all somehow drug money edit: example san bernardino pd used asset forfeiture to stop 3 armored trucks and seized the money each time
