I did the same to my Predator 212! Forgot to put oil in it, ran it hard for 5 minutes or so, then remembered. Engine is still fine (knock on wood), and I treat it with respect now! I don't care what people say, Predator engines earn my respect.

When my buddy got his 212 for a go kart he put oil in it 2 years ago and didn’t change it until last month. I pretty much forced him to lol but the oil had no metal flakes In it. These things are pretty beefy engines for only $100
Where you take the governor shaft out of instead of plugging with a bolt well when using a fuel pump, use a pipe thread tap and put the fitting in their to pulse the fuel pump in the hole.
Quite the difference with the new valve springs...those old fi ford winsors are the same when they get high miles...put in valve springs and shims and 9 out of 10 run smooth and crisp as newish...my 88 was 5 ish cylinder now smooth v8 peace
The washer on the end of the pipe is for when you're racing and people are walking by they don't get a chunk of there leg cut out from the sharp cut on the exhaust
The Minitard all small engines are super simple iv been fixing my parents since I was like 10. I love when people toss out a great peice of equipment over it not running makes for a good deal
people do the same with weed eaters and stuff like that, throw away a practically new weed eater when all it needs is the carb cleaned. just takes a little bit of know how and youll save alot of money
Why do remove the oil sensor, I understand the governor, I usually leave the little gear in does it hurt it. I figured it's just spinning in there not doing anything. Also what is the purpose of the heavier valve springs?
Remove the sensor because it causes the engine to shut off when sharp turning. Heavier valve springs increase the rpms u can safely hit without valve float.
SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME.PULLED THE ROPE ,WAS LOCKED UP,REMOVED PLUG , FULL OF WATER .STARTED RIGHT UP AND IS STILL RUNNING. WAS SITTING A LONG TIME OUT SIDE WAS VERY SURPRISED IT WASN'T RUSTED TIGHT.
This was a fantastic video!!! I got a Baja warrior cheap off craigslist to build for a family member and the engine on it did the same thing (locked up the pullstart). I ended up just getting a new predator and putting the Baja engine in the corner of the garage for later. Now I'm going to go dissemble it and see if it is having the same issue...this video was/is a great help!!!
I have a non-hemi Predator that was on a pressure washer, stopped mid job and wouldn't start again for love or money. Being pressed for time I swapped the motor for another I had on the shelf and finished the job. That Predator has been sitting where I put it down when I got back to the shop, like you this video has me wanting to go tear it apart and see what's up with it.
Yep. I actually took the Baja to the local mechanic shop after I spent a few day on it. He got it to run, but it was left out in the ran with the other equipment after he finished it. I picked it up and got it to crank one time...then like I said above just left it alone after it locked up. I'm betting it got water in it!! Now I want to go take it apart and see what the problem is!! Let me know what you find about yours. Could be that pressure washer water blew back on/in it!
Could be, but as I recall, mine would pull over just fine. It just wouldn't fire at all. This all happened back when Predator parts were scarce, so I've never messed with it since pulling it off the pressure washer. Like you this video has me curious to see what's actually wrong with it, if something simple will get it running again it would be worth fixing to have as a spare or to use on a project.
Well I checked mine out on Saturday. The carb was clean, oil looks good, plug looks good and has spark. Since the air cleaner was off I shot a little carb cleaner in the intake, pulled the motor over and it fired. I put the air cleaner back on, clamped the motor down, turned the fuel on, started it on the second pull. I still have no clue what caused the problem, but aside from needing to clean the air filter and some fresh fuel, it's good to go. :)

Red beards garage I found if you take your blow gun on your air compressor and blow on that washer it'll blow it right off you can get your pics behind it just makes it way easier trust me to try it out sometime thanks
The washer on the exhaust header is so you and drill holes to match bolt on mufflers. Great vid can't wait for Monday. Want to see that three wheeler progress I seen on Instagram
Cool video very entertaining like always. But one thing I noticed is you didn't even look at the gap on the spark plug you just slapped it in out of the box, I know they are pre-gapped but still roll... check that gap 🤪
You should really strive to make 25 - 30 minute videos. I enjoy all of your vids but it is a bummer when they are only around 15 minutes or so. Love the channel!
Sir. what is the kit for air filter? I was just givin an old Murray go cart with a Tecumseh 60 hp engine on it and It also needs break caliper and pads and a torque converter kit. what should i use. any help would be awesome

I’m dying to get rid of the gas tank on my predator 212 you know the casting years that are mounting for the gas tank can I cut those off because I think it is so ugly looking with them on
Hey I'm building a Honda GX35 engine on a blades Moby 33cc gas scooter. What does a CVT transmission do? I know how to put just the engine on the scooter and make it run and drive. Is the CVT transmission a upgrade? Online there about 80$.
I'm a little confused about bypassing the governor. Is it dangerous to just remove the arm without tearing the guts apart and removing the gear inside?
Yes, that is extremely dangerous. You have to split the case take out the plastic gear inside you can’t just cut the top governor bar off. Because when you cut that off, guess what happens a giant 45° elbow of metal is floating around inside your case while your crank and piston is moving around! If I have to tell you why that’s bad pay to have somebody else do it for you!
Hey red beard if I take my Governor out of my engine will it blew cuz I had an engine blow on me before cuz I bypassed the governor. I do have a torque converter and stage 1 performance parts. Love ur videos keep up the good work

Dosent look like any predator iv seen. Might be a 1st gen with little valves is like to see if it is the side cover and block architecture is a little different than most of the predators iv seen

You can take the fly wheel off and drive the shaft that the governor rides on and then you can just put a bolt in it. That way you don't have to mess with that little ring
hello i would like to ask what size the belt for the motor (clutch) is. we live in mexico and we have a car just like yours but we are having a hard time finding the belt. can you send me the size or letters on the belt?
And your not building shit for under $50! If you are....... You better have ALL the parts you need sitting around. I re-did a mini bike and just for little stuff carb cleaner, nuts, bolts, washers, sand paper, grease, gas, spark plug, so on! Just going to your auto parts store will cost you atleast $60. Every damn time I needed something from the auto parts store it costed me $20. Just to re-do a mini bike costed me over $150
Imo predator engines are far better than a honda, literally your just paying for the name, and the predator motors have slightly more metal in their blocks compared to hondas.
