Scored this killer Duster for $600. There is a reason it was $600 though! What are your thoughts? Was it too much? Is it too far gone? No matter, we will do something awesome with it!
in 1974, I was 16 years old, I bought a 1965 GTO, 389, 2-3s 4 speed for $500.... Running driving, body and frame perfect, no rust. Keep in mind this car was only 9 years old... and back then, that wasn't even a great deal... One year later, I was in the Air Force, I bought a 1970 Roadrunner, 383 3 speed manual, $1275. again perfect, no issues. I think God everyday I was born at the right time.
I was Lucky and i bought a 74 Plymouth Gold Duster that still has original paint ... Black with a white stripe with black bucket seats and interior..... The odometer showing 94 thousand miles and by the looks of the car its the True mileage..... It was the body and everything except motor and transmission....it was a 318 auto...car but fortunately i have a 360 motor and trans. out of a Dodge Dart of the same year.... I Got ALL OF IT for what you gave for Yours.....
I'm for anyone saving a Duster, but not that one. There are a few parts on it that are worth something...namely the grille and the power steering box...IF it's any good. Otherwise, it's just 7-1/4 rearend most likely, small drum brakes, no AC, etc, plus it has frame rust in all the bad places. It'll make a good sheet metal donor, good on you for getting it out of the woods.
I paid $2,300 for a duster which was the first and only new car I ever bought. I also got my first ticket 85 in 70 just before they lowered the freeway speed to 55 during the gas shortage. Who would think 50 years later the U.S. would be exporting oil?
I could only wish to find one for 600.00 ! If its a 318 ive got a nice gen 3 hemi to go into it i can make a tube chassis for it f the frames junk so ling as the body is this solid this is mint by maine standards ive seen cars like this sell for up to 5000.00 up here with no floor pans and a 340 in pieces on the side.a lot of flippers would band aid it together with a junk 318 and a cheap paint job and ask 20k but accept mabe 17 up here .
Check out this in 1980 I pay for my 69 charger rt running $ 65.00 dollars the one in the photo I GOT my first car before my bicycle only in USA n yes I still have it 👍peace cars lovers
....... On the drivers' door there's a linkage with a a 90 deg clip on it that has probably popped off which prevents you from opening the door from the outside, pulling up on that linkage should open the door. ................. Jim.
I haven't really looked into it much yet. I know it's the wrong year door for the car, but that shouldn't make a difference. It can open from the inside, so you're probably right on the money
If you plan to make that a driver you have allot of frame repair to do. Looks like it was bathed on salt before taking 20 year nap outside. No engine or trans?
It will either become a parts car, or some sort of chassis swap project. Still have not decided, there are other cars that are more of a priority right now
@@k3vbotsgarage786 Definitely worth saving and building. Mopars of any sort are getting fewer every day. Even base Dusters are getting lots more attention.
Finally.....a car with more rust than my '60 Studebaker! Even with the roached out frame, you can double your money should you decide to part it out. I say piss everybody off and rat rod it!
