This car was purchased in Seattle, WA, and road-tripped 2,200 miles back home to Fort Wayne, IN. Will the Bluebird make it home, or will it bust trying?! Find out in this episode of K3VBOT's Garage! duty free music - bensound.com
I have a 71 Thunderbird 4 door that my parents bought new. Yeah, we still have it! It was in the driveway for 25 years and I decided to get it running again. I was a mechanic so I knew what to do, it runs great. That 429 Thunderjet, 360 horsepower! Hell yeah! I’m a Ford guy all the way!
That’s pretty darn cool I live in Boise Idaho area I bought a 70 Thunderbird back in 1995 parked it in the shed in 2007 and I am now resurrecting at and unfortunately the mice and birds I’ve made a mess out of it but the upholstery and everything inside is still in excellent shape so I hope to have it on the road in 2021
Love the road trip and definitely love the 70 T-Bird, one of the most beautiful cars ever made by anyone. I remember it when new and everyone went nuts for the chopped top and the beak. Yours is a real beater and needs much work but is a real beauty in baby blue nevertheless. I hope you have plans to restore it to its former glory and would definitely love to see that happen. My first car was a 64 T-Bird Landau in classic turquoise which I bought for $900 in 1969 when I was 17 and had just got my license. Best of luck to you.
That Thunderbird has potential. I just acquired a 1971 Torino with the 250 straight 6 in it and I'm setting up a game plan to put in a high HP and torque engine. Can you guess the exact engine I want to put in? Yep 429! So when your engine started overheating then knocking, I did what All motorheads do in that situation! Try not to get emotional and form a bond with a abused engine and tryi to figure a way to save her and give her a loving home. STOP THE VIOLENCE!
That’s not what he’s doing .. & He’s most definitely NOT A Motor Head He’s An Idiot.. poor water on top of it .. to cool it off rite… wow.. I’ve been turning wrenches for almost 50 years .. & that’s the first time I’ve seen that trick.. I wouldn’t go around telling people that .. I guess he’s got some money.. guys really not to smart.. But being S Millennial He’s Blissfully Unaware of any problems.. just poor water on it .. that’s the best way to cool that engine.. some people put the Coolant in the radiator. But hay .. in his mind it’s all an awsome trip
Well on that Thunderbird it does not have a fan clutch that thing is direct so maybe put in a fan clutch and modify a little the fan system it would do a whole lot better
We live 20 miles south of Seattle ! I feel very fortunate to have grown up here. Looks like you were in North Bend at Les Schwab. That store had its doors and windows blown in awhile back when another building nearby exploded ! lol The Snoqualmie Falls is amazing especially during flood season . We go out that way often to escape the city. Water boils in engines , better to use pre mix anti freeze. Also thats not a fan clutch its a spacer. Good shape over all.
You're right, Les Schwab in North Point is where I got the tires, and that's crazy to hear about their facility. I actually picked the car up at the McChord Air Force Base, so probably drove right past!
I saw a 71 when I was on my trip that was brown on brown with 75k original miles and spotless. It was a really nice clean looking car. They didn't want to trade haha!
@@k3vbotsgarage786 I drove a '71 when I was looking for my 'bird. The 429 in that felt a bit.... sluggish? I figured it was tuned poorly or maybe it was an early victim of the gas crisis.
Well with that compression on that car 10 to 5 to 1 yep yep yep you're hundred 60 horsepower yep yep yep boy that car has some power don't get discouraged with the cooling system you put an update coding system 360 horsepower that's what I meant.
I actually traded the 69 for a 70 that I plan to make a super bird out of. I have a lead on the original 440 for it. Videos of that will be coming as winter closes in :)
@@k3vbotsgarage786 DOH! Oh well, Superbirds are pretty cool too, good luck finding the nose and rear spoiler. I saw where somebody made a nose for a Superbird, in sheet metal, a couple of years ago, can't remember where I saw that, but I was impressed by the level of skill that went into that. The tools available these days (if you have plenty of money) are light years ahead of a couple of decades ago and guys are getting pretty crafty with sheet metal fabrication.
@@Boteris That I do not know. I never stopped to check the gearing. I would assume so based on the fact I don't think previous owner ever made modifications to the car. The license plate cover says "My grandchildren are cuter than yours" haha
It is for sale. I don't think the motor is "hurt", but I also have not dug into it. The coolant has remained clean since that one incident. I am in Fort Wayne, IN if you'd like to come take a look at her
@@k3vbotsgarage786 damn. I'll have to keep looking. I have ome currently. But the body and chassis are toast. However the 429 and C6 are still in good shape. Glad you got to enjoy the ride for a cruise. The galaxie was a good trade though.
@@tonynecas4825 I believe my buddy is going to harvest the drivetrain out of it, and then sell off the body. I can send him your way when he's done if you'd like?
@@k3vbotsgarage786 normally i would say hell yeah. But my 429 and c6 already have a home. And i couldn't commit to just coming and getting a body. Much obliged though. If you happen to hear of any other for a decent price hit me up.
@@k3vbotsgarage786 because it is stuck. I have the same car, and this is working by tempearature. when it is hot it locks the clutch, on cold let the slip a bit
I truly wanna see see more of ur cute smile & shenagans on here for realz!! Lol This was really a unique RU-vid video, you made me interested again bro 😉
