So who is making a $600 AK? Mine cost $800+. Don’t take this the wrong way but I think blue metal on wood looks good and the AK doesn’t look good in black on black, especially with looks like AR stock
Rob is the best creator for these videos. I feel like he is one of us. He reviews budget products, offers great customer service from his store, and shares all kinds of tips and tricks. This is the kind of channel the community really benefits from! Keep up the good work!
That was the idea. I didin't want this to turn "custom expensive" rifle video. Something what everyone can get their hands on and experiment without going nuts on prices...then again, if you can afford to drop serious coin on project like that, sure, why not?
@@AkOperatorsUnion "Used to be able to get their hands on" - This "Pay off the Judges Gov. Prickster" in Illinois stopped us from getting anything. He ought to be in prison for outright Bribery! The situation in Texas and New Mexico is NOTHING compared to the crimes being committed by Prickster on the 2A and tons of other stuff too.
Damn, so good to see your channel still thriving, love your content! I get so excited to see new content from your channel. Also love my GF3. I've been very curious about that Soviet Arms rail. Thanks for the ideas and God bless you, Rob!
I got a GF3 way back when you did your 5,000 roubd review. I had zero isssues with the rifle itself but the side rail was out of spec and refused to accpet any mounts. I sent it back to PSA and they said that accoeding to thier tests the side rails where fine. I posted a video on RU-vid showing them otherwise. They took the rifle back saying it would take 6-8weeks to have it fixed...I opted to get my money back. Then several months later PSA issues a recall about offspec rails. I may get another rifle from them but that experince left a poor taste in my mouth.
Yep, I posted about those rails being out of spec on their first batch. Sorry they couldn't get this right for you. I honestly don't get their actions on issues like this...
@@AkOperatorsUnion It worked out in the end. I was able to get an M+M M10 Import DIY kit from Atlantic instead. I really want to like PSA. I like that they offer budget friendly rifles that everyone can afford, but Quality control seeps through the cracks. I believe you said this or someome else did, but PSA needs to focus on getting QC up VS making all these different designs. Let the customer build what they want vs having 20 different GF3s to pick from. Still I am glad that you make videos like this to help new comers get into AK as well as those with limited budgets to have a quality rifle.
Dang I didnt see that recall was issued. I bought the GF3 shortly after Rob posted his 5000 rd rundown too. How common was the problem? Does it mean it just might be difficult to run optics?
Some people keep talking shit about the PSA GF3s. I have 3 no issues yet for the past 4 yrs. All I up graded was the trigger (ALG), replaced the recoil spring(ALG).
I was considering a similar build for my ZPAP M70. I painted it FDE/Brown, 3X ACSS Prism with wrap around rail, Zastava MLOK rail with bipod and vertical fire grip. I am planning to get a side folding adjustable stock after replacing the top cover with a railed hinged one. I love the mix of the best of East and West in a harmonic package which people with an eye for fine engineering and practically can appreciate. Happy Weekend everyone. Keep up the great work Rob!
Dang you, Rob! You're tempting me to re-SPR my AK. That's exactly how I want to run mine. I bought all the gear to spr my AK. Some from you(wink wink). I just may commit the SPR project again. That's a great rig!
Hmmm...I was contemplating this with my Vepr(that I purchased because of your videos years and years ago). It is accurate and not just "for an AK". Thanks, Rob!
This gives a new meaning to the phrase "taste the rainbow". Lol. That bullet drop looks like a basketball shot at that range. Good shooting my friend! #7.62x39
SPR AK gang. Love to see it. I did a SPR build on my Zastava M90, 4-14x PA scope. Slick setup, heavy but a great shooting rifle, and it works well with 5.56.
Great work Rob and Company! I get most of my AK accessories from your akou store! Thank you for your contribution of high value content and products for We The People!” The AK is a firearm for the common man and the one gun an owner can utilize for all tasks!
Thx for sharing the build details, Rob. To some it seems like minutiae, but it is helpful I think. 6:21 Even the vaunted and mighty Zenit is not without the limitations. Thanks for sharing!
Love my gf3, probably around 6k rounds deep with not a single malfunction. Front sight is canted, bullet guide has a small amount of wobble (rivet is snug tho) and I had to file a small amount of splash of the bolt carrier tail but otherwise this thing has been phenomenal.
I call that just getting to know her… it’s always fun tinkering with the small things we have to do to get our AK’s to run like machines. I think it makes me appreciate the tool even more that I a had to put a little personal touch and elbow grease into the equation. Maybe it’s just me…
@@Gator69420yea man, still functions flawlessly. I haven’t been running it as often with the current state of 7.62x39 but still runs like a top and nothing weird to report. Congrats on your gf5.
@@ninjaxams cool man thanks for responding! So many different reviews online and can never trust anything someone says especially in today’s world. I went with my gut feeling and got the PSA G5 Life time warranty American made I think a lot of these people Bash PSA due to early on issues that happened years ago and can’t let it go. They’ve def made some bad firearms who hasn’t 🤷🏼♂️but I think I made a good choice! How many rounds you think you got through yours ?
Always good stuff ... Ski is right about 7.62x39. If you shoot it at long range and master wind and crazy drops you can appreciate the flatter shooting cartridges much more. Nice alternative to playing with 22lr.
That's awesome, My GF3 has been set up like this for 5 or 6 years now. Its got an RS Regulate GK rail and RS scope mount with an Atibal 1-8X optic. No can yet but thats the next big purchase Im gonna make for my collection.
It’s like shooting a f!cking mortar, using that x39 at extended range lmfao! the round reminds me of those Wiley coyote and road runner cartoons with those acme anvils falling! Lol🤣👍🏻 I dunno I think that 400-500m cap on x39 seems sensible… but out of everyone on guntube, I think robski the one to show us the way to stretch past that. Even if it seems really impractical lol. since we are not all professional marksmen, I would love for you to break down some technique and process of the hows and how you were able to become so efficient at doing mid range work with x39, the arching of the bullet, holdovers, compensating, the overall finessing of the shot. i also would love to see you do some optic reviews and breakdowns- I think your input and analysis and explanation of some of the modern optics out there available to us, especially lpvos would be an invaluable resource, to have someone with your skill and experience testing, reviewing, and analyzing optics on the market-and pushing them to their limit.
Great video you are one hell of a shot! It would be interesting to see what the GF5 can do at that distance with the FN barrel in it. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN 🙏
Rob Sky, you are a true professional with the AK... the way you use the trigger speaks volumes about how professional you are. Thanks for your videos...let's keep learning
I apologize in advance if this was covered before and I can't find it. And this is the AK channel not the more precision shootingy VRSC. Use of .22lr rifles at shorter ranges (100-150m) for training? Transferable skills? Transferable bad habits? Thanks for sharing your knowledge Rob.
I preffer to use this setup over 22LR because it still forces me to deal with the recoil management on the top of the wind game. But yeah, from wind point of view, 22LR will take you places as well! ha!
Rob, I love watching your stuff, especially for your uniquely 'no bullshit' approach. When you make complaints, it can reasonably be assumed that they are legitimate issues. If you say something is good, moreso than most, I'm comfortable trusting something as good to go (at least enough to buy and verify my examples) I'm also incredibly happy that you got me turned on to the PSAKs back during your BR2 review. Got one back then, and haven't looked back. With your GFA prism setup, it's been an absolute gem for a couple of thousand rounds and is my go to SHTF AK (alongside some more NATO centric options)
I learned more from Rob ski on shooting my ak accurately than any other channel, the first time I hit exactly where I was aiming at yardage I did a little dance.
I have come to the conclusion over the years that anything a stock AR can hit, then a stock AK can hit as well. On my long range AK game. I periodically shoot a 600m target at a commercial precision rifle range in my area. This is to confirm optic zero and the ability to hit a target when on the clock at a 600yd stage at an AK 2-gun match. My only AK that has an issue with it is my 5.45mm when it is cold and windy. Full disclosure, the 7.62x39mm that is used for this is my TRA Tabuk sniper.
You must be delusional to pay more than 1000 for stock Ak with no expensive furniture. I only spend 1000 of PSA gf5 model because it has FN Barrel. Most likely best barrel Ak ever had.
I have red numerous bad reviews about PSA AKs, as they said "There is a reason why they are on Gen 5 and didn't stay on Gen 3 and Gen 4.". So to me, buying an AK from them would be an absolutely last resort, if new Yugo AKs would disappear (Gods Forbid), I would buy PSA. But until then, I would rather spend money on more reliable Yugo AK. Especially since yugo AK gives you are much stronger receiver as well as a bit thicker barrel.
Great shooting Rob, always a pleasure seeing you with an ak in hand. Loved the setup and your range looked fun, great idea with the light to show hits on target. Stay happy and healthy Rob.
Robski you are the GOAT of the AK. I have learn so much from you about AK. I to have the PSA G3 E. Pin and weld barrel and it runs like a dirty whore on a Friday night hahaha love it. Thank you Sir for all your hard work and time
I went full tactical with a psa-104 and love it got to put a good amount of ammo through it recently, gun snobs hate it but they aren't paying my bills or buying my guns so I could care less what they think, I've only got a holosun 403r on it for now but have definitely thought about something with some magnification
I've got a lowly Century Arms RAS47 that I paid $600 for, everyone laughs when I take it to the range, but I can keep 30 rounds in the size of a fist at 75 yards with iron sights and eyes with 5+ decades on them. The only thing I've done is put a Midwest Industries comp and magpul furniture on it. I've maybe got 1k-1200 rounds thru it and absolutely 0 issues. No ftf, no fte, no bolt peening or excessive wear...nothing.
@SierraBravo347 there's a difference between a budget gun and one that's been proven to have issues with no resolve from the company ultimately buy what you like and can afford that's what it's all about, but couldn't pay me to have a ras47
@@spoolyboi9434 I plan on getting a "real" AK platform rifle eventually, but since I've had no issues with this one, I'll run it til it dies. I like the 7.63x39 cartridge, so I'll probably go with an AR platform rifle chambered in 7.62x39. We'll see
This is what happens when a rifle is made well for a purpose. AK platform CAN be made to be accurate to fairly long ranges. All that's needed is adjustment of the design in the necessary direction.
Thanks for making such informative videos, I've been binge watching and what happened to the users guide part 2? I guess You Tube took it down, (The Gun Police)
What a cool looking rifle. Seems to be better quality than ones from poor countries like Russia. I never heard of high round Russian aks. I know Russian army is replacing ak 74s every 5000 rounds, not sure about 7.62 akms.
Damn nice setup! As a fellow AK shooter, I to love to "kit out" all my guns. I've got a video of some of my AK setups deep in my Channel videos. I've definitely took some inspiration from your setups.
Rob, can you do a video on the Soviet Arms handguard installation? Other than the shims, any other tips you have? Are the rails performing well for you?
