You’re not really going to find any real sentiment left for the old Republic of Vietnam in modern day Vietnam today due to three main reasons. 1. Most of those living in Vietnam today were born long after the war and effectively have no real collective memory of the war itself aside from those left from that era that are still alive. 2. Political indoctrination basically demonizes one side in favor of the other for obvious reasons, though honestly that’s not saying that the Republic of Vietnam was exactly that good or innocent either. 3. People in Vietnam really don’t give a crap about politics until someone invades…and it’s usually the Chinese that tends to be at the end of the stick in that scenario due to the historical beef.

All vietnamese, doesn't matter if they are commies or anti-communist, still view themselves as Vietnamese.

@@tiendinh2554 the entire reason the North won was because China and USSR continued funneling weapons and ammo to North Vietnam while the US Congress refused to resupply South Vietnam. Both armies were *completely* dependent on foreign powers to win. At the end of the war, South Vietnam was basically out of artillery shells and they could barely even operate their air force, problems the North did not have because their benefactors were still arming them.
