Thanks a lot for the info! I’m jumping into the same situation with a 1992 Toyota Celica Convertible putting in a gen 4 3S-GTE engine…. What were your main obstacles doing this? Thanks again!!
How much a set up like this cost? I have a 92 Celica GTS ,the motor need more power is old and I think is on its last days, it has a 360xxx miles on engine
Not sure if you are still reading comments on these older videos but I have a question about clocking the turbo down. Is there anything in particular that I need to look out for? Also I’m still trying to figure out how you got the intercooler pipe down in front of the Alternator, I don’t see any room for that at all on mine. I have a 1990 GTS with a 3S-GTE, but I’m going to upgrade to a front mounted intercooler. Also one more question, Did you have to buy a Fuel Pump Relay to get your fuel pump to work? Thanks!
For clocking the turbo pull the compressor housing off and remove the small pin that locates the housing in the factory spot, then you can put it back on in any direction. The wastegate actuator bracket was the worst part about doing it. The intercooler pipe is very tight infront of the alternator, he has all his accessories so it was very tight as well I didn't have any issues with the fuel pump, I would check the fuel pump jumper in the small fuse/relay box by the cruise control
I have a 90 celica GTS with manual transmission. I would like to have a 3-sgte swap. Where is your shop located, and how much would you charge to do the swap.
@@velocityperformance8574 thank you so much, is there any place I can talk to you? Me and a buddy are working on the same swap and would like some advice from a person who's done it before
Hey quick question I know it’s been a few years but I have a 1987 Celica gt FWD thats got a 5Sfe in it I’ve been looking into engine swapping it with the 3sgte but there’s only very few forms to read with little information. Question is will the 3sgte bolt right into the stock transmission (automatic btw) and if so would a 3sgte engine from a mr2 fight right in or would I need one from a all trac Celica ..? I only ask since mr2 3sgte are way more common than the all trac Celica. I really love the car but there’s very little mods and stuff out there for it I don’t really mind but I really would like to upgrade to a 3sgte instead of turboing my stock 5sfe Dont really wanna spend more in tunes / other ecu problems when I can just swap out for a 3sgte na turbo engine with lower miles
You will need a 3sgte flex plate, the 5sfe one won't bolt up. Everything else will let it bolt up to the trans and engine mounts. All the 3sgte mr2 or alltrac have almost identical blocks but for your purposes it doesn't matter. You will need the alltrac accessories like crank pulley, Alt bracket ect. Dollar to dollar it would be cheaper to invest in a ebay turbo kit and run a speedy ecu.
It is a gen 2 3sgte. I just removed what wasn’t needed for the microsquirt/body/AC system and tucked what I could. I have the BBG for this car and those are the wire schematics I used
Velocity Performance It’s been hard to find performance parts, Toyota engines were really never designed for modifications unless you had an all-trac. I’ve seen a lot of custom made stuff on RU-vid and all
Doing the same swap 93 Celica ST going from 4AFE to a 3SGE Beams Red top. I need help with the engine mount brackets. Also does the engine go in from the bottom? I can't get it in from the top. Find me on facebook project megan
Its not an expensive swap, but its just finding a doner with a decent motor. I drive a '94 Celica GTS, been looking for one for a bit. Good luck finding a decent MR2 to rip it out of.
@@danieldelphi6021 I had to make my own harness for every thing I've done so far, the toyota "BGB" has all the schematics you need. It used to be download able but I think it got taken off.
