Most Americans in big cities know that when the President is in town, all traffic flows stop so he and his entourage can drive unimpeded. The Supreme Court ruling on 07-01 made what was previously implied explicit. Essentially, the SC said the "quiet part" out loud

Obviously the Supreme Court was entirely out of its depth. But, they also just ruled that the subject matter expertise of federal agencies is also useless. Incredibly ignorant decisions.

Expand the Supreme Court.... before it's to late to save the democracy

The Roberts Court is corrupt, at least the six MAGAts are. This ruling was absolutely unnecessary. In fact, the case itself was absolutely unnecessary for the court to take up. The trial court and appeals court had ruled on the matter, with the appeals court issuing a very well reasoned opinion. The Supreme Court could have let this go to trial. Then if Trump was convicted he could appeal on whatever grounds he wanted, including supposed, really made-up, immunities. The appeals courts and Supreme Court could then evaluate those appeals. The country went through 44 previous presidents over 230 years since the ratification of the Constitution, without there being any issues about presidents being criminally charged by their successors for political reasons. Even in the case of Nixon, had he been charged with crimes it would have been by a DOJ under a Republican president, who had been Vice President picked by Nixon himself. The Constitution specifies certain immunities for members of Congress and the President. It does not grant the President any sort of immunity like those granted by Roberts and his cronies. Hamilton in Federalist No. 69 explicitly states that a former president is subject to the courts. The Framers were gravely concerned that a President would become a tyrant, and sought to limit his powers to help prevent that. Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearings said explicitly that no one is above the law, including the President. Looks like that was a lie of convenience. Mitch McConnell, for what little his word is worth, said that Trump was subject to the law. SCOTUS is as a matter of practice supposed to be as minimalist and targeted in its rulings as possible. This was not that. It actually gave Trump immunities beyond those his lawyers even asked for. The damage to the country and the rule of law from this could be fatal to democracy in America.

One hundred bucks says she has the same immunity for her official acts.

We need extraordinary action to this extraordinary threat to America.
