If he was so violently abusive, she wouldn't have had a chance to speak to him that way. An abuser would have beat her senseless for even attempting to act that way. Her EXACT tone of voice at 2:34 triggers me to my mother who also has BPD and would berate me in that way when I was a child. She would start off calmly badgering my character, and then any time I started speaking up for myself, she would raise her tone at me, just like Amber did to Johnny right then and there. There's absolutely no point in defending yourself after a BPD episode like Amber had, it just makes them angrier. That's why JD would lock himself away in the bathroom, because he couldn't defend himself until she calmed down from her manic episode.

That’s the trap they lay out. I’m a survivor myself and after a year of being degraded and insulted, made to feel like nothing- I finally snapped back. I’ve said some horrible things, things I still feel sick thinking about, but when you are goaded, pushed into a corner and taunted, that’s what happens. You can’t be defenceless forever, everyone has a breaking point. Thankfully I broke before things got super serious and I’ve been stalked and harassed ever since, yet I still have my freedom and that’s all I need!

Let’s be honest. Some of us are not even comfortable talking this way to our friends let alone an abuser. So the fact that Amber heard has the balls and is so comfortable around Johnny for her to speak to him this way speaks volumes. She did not fear Johnny at all like she claims.
