Wonderfully well done. Never has La Folia been more entertaining. Very fine dancing by the maiden, and the sword fight also caps off a great performance ensemble. Brava and Bravo.
An enduring theme, from poor peasant dance to rock, the Folia has been taken over by numerous composers throughout history. You name them. Corelli, Vivaldi, Salieri, Mozart, Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Berlioz, Brahms, Liszt, Rachmaninoff etc. It appears in Latinoamerican, English, Scottish, Norwegian, Finnish, etc. folkloric music.
I think Folias and other Spanish/Portuguese music from that era are the best things to come out of Europe. That weird Spanish/Portuguese music from slightly before Bach (which he cites as his influences) of the Spanish Golden Age. It's by far the best.
