First time retesting this classic in probably 8 years. One of my favorites.
After watching the video back, I realize I’ve gotta work on my catch position / front rack!
The last score I can remember was a PR at 2:58 Rx…in a gym setting with people watching/shouting/judging.
Today I was solo, and targeted under 3:30. Happy with where I ended up at 3:18, especially considering I didn't have a clock to watch or anyone yelling at me.
I always approach “Grace” as all singles - no sets. Goal is to keep the muscle fatigue at bay, heart rate in check, and simply get back on the bar as quickly as possible after each drop.
Initially, I started out picking the barbell up immediately as it stopped bouncing. Toward the middle of the workout I noticed I was taking a step longer. I definitely slowed down, but not too much.
I was catching the barbell with my elbows lower, so I wasn't getting the best power transfer into the jerk, which forced me to press it out on several reps. Not the most efficient.
Otherwise this effort felt ok. I wonder if I could’ve beat my PR with people yelling at me to “go, go, go!” 🧐
Crazy how right after the workout I sat in front of the camera thinking I could talk...then it took me another minute to truly catch my breath!
