Actually in the manga she says it's her sister's (not clever, I know, but she panics bc she is so affraid of Incel), and because incel's father is Hatsumi's own father's boss, she becomes his slave so her father won't be humiliated (also if he starts a rumor in their neighborhood it's bad bc Incel's mother litteraly knows everybody and if she hates somebody everybody would do the same). I don't know, while anime culture is very sexist, I find that at last a lot of romantic anime has a female character with... Well... Character.

Kaylynn Davis yea it’s definitely more subtle in western culture but what I find disturbing is how much the aesthetic in these animations/movie plot lines are lowkey admired by western culture and for a lot of insecure men, preferred.

I totally agree. After learning in my cultural anthropology class that incest is a human taboo across cultures and not just a law-based definition, I found that so many different cultures have varying definitions of what classifies as incest taboo. For me it's definitely anybody that's blood related OR raised together.

If it was 2 adults who ended up becoming step siblings, whatever then, you're basically just a family friends. But if you grew up together thinking you were blood related, that is weird and gross
